The best thing about this hostel is that the rooms look like what the pictures on the website look like! The rooms are very clean and spacious and ours included a bathroom ensuite which was great. Friendly and helpful staff who allowed us to print Visas and plane tickets at reception as well as poured well priced cold beer at the bar! Out door area with music was also great for socializing. Location isn't bad, there is a restaurant close by and it's about a 10/15 minute walk to the train station.

Went with a tour and they booked us to stay here. For a hostel, it's decent. I've stayed in many and this was one of the better ones in terms of sleeping arrangements and personal bathrooms but there are several other reasons why I had to give 2 stars. The staff are okay, not very friendly and always seem annoyed when you ask them a question but fine I can deal with that. The absolute worst, deal breaker is the fact that you will NOT get any sleep here. The hostel is right on the train and trains zip by nonstop. It is so noisy and irritating. There is no air conditioning so you have to keep the window open for air, especially since we were in a room with 6 girls. I do not recommend that either as you run out of toilet paper quite quickly and they have an attitude when you ask for more. The halls stink of vomit, urine and body odor and there are stains all over the carpets. Like I said, the rooms are pretty clean and the bathrooms which is why I gave it a 2 star, but due to the lack of sleep, dirty halls, rude staff and distant location from much of anything good, I would never stay here again.

Stayed here on our first night in Munich prior to Oktoberfest. Check in was fast, lobby bar was fun and the service was good. The issue was we were first paired with a 70 year old french lady, I mean as a Canadian I've learnt to speak French by watching CBC and reading the back sides on our packaging so we could sort of figure her out. The real issue was at 2 in the morning a lederhosen clad person joined us in our room and proceeded to vomit in the toilet, shower stall, floor, in their bunk, and all over our senior roomies sweater. This was real great and I assume the regular hostel experience and/or nightmare. The hostel bar is 24 hours so be aware that you will hear that sweet dance music all night.

The room was quiet enough, but they didn't provide bedding upon check-in, for some reason I had to go back down and request it. Then it was a 4 person council as to if it should be free. Then it had holes in it. Water isn't free. They don't accept credit cards. They don't have a great system for check in. Honestly I don't care for Munich at all and this place just embodies everything that is annoying about this town.

Really cool place, I would recommend it especially to young people. Food was mostly good except for a few things but generally speaking it was good (I come from Italy so I've very high expectations when it comes to food). Breakfast was excellent, there's a lot of stuff to eat. Rooms are very clean, big and luminous. It only takes 5 minutes to Laim S-Bahn station that is very well connected to the city center and there also is a bus stop next to the hostel. Had a really good stay here!!

hello. 3 nights stay in A&O Munich Laim from 20 to 23 July 2017. The hostel and its location : it is located 10-15 mn walk from the metro station Laim which is at very few station from the central station ( hauptbahnhof ) of Munich which is the best point to start your discovery of Munich. when you are off the station, walk to your right where you will find lots of bikes parked, then keep walking to the right, you will find a long street, keep walking to the direction of the north, you will find a parking full of used cars for sale, and then you will find the A&O Munich Laim. think of buying a 3 days Pass to enjoy unlimited usage of the metro and consider 30 mn ( slow walk and metro after few minutes of waiting ) to be in the city center. the hotel is clean. it has a canteen where you have breakfast ( not included in the price of the room ) , a reception area where you can sit and have a drink , an elevator, ... the hotel was full of young travelers. Reception : fast check in. helpful staff. one of them printed my bus voucher for my trip to Ljubljana for free. The room : Opened with a magnetic card. I was in 6 beds dormitory . the bathroom was clean and so was the toilet. liquid soap and the shower gel were provided. Breakfast : It is not included in the price of the room, so you pay to have it. it is an all what you can eat buffet, more salty than sweet, but it ensures you a good start of the day. wifi : works well in all the hostel it suits the small budget travelers ( like me ) who are looking for a place where to sleep and discover the city.

It is quite close to public transport, which made it easy to get to. I arrived early in the morning but was able to hang out in the lobby for a bit. I was disappointed that I had to pay to store my luggage in a locker, other hostels have offered free luggage storage. I was also disappointed that sheets and such are also an extra fee. Some of the front desk staff are nice, others not so much. My bed was comfortable enough.

I have a family of six and the A&O chain is perfect for us. This is another well positioned and well run hostel. The room for six was exactly as we expected and we all slept comfortably. We will be back or continue to use their facilities.

5nights stay in here. 1st 3nights, we have a big room for 6 people. Room with street view is good and quite. Good sleep for night. Another 2 nights, we have a small room for 6 people with railway view. The room is very near to the railway and noise for all night. Room is clean but small toilet & bathroom. Far from railway station. The kitchen is the main point which I choose to stay here. However, disappointed to the kitchen. Small, dirty and incomplete utensils.

Adequate hotel, generally pleasant stay. My friend found some weird stains on his comforter so that should be taken care of by staff prior to guest arrival. The hostel/hotel is far from center of Munich. About a 25 minute car ride. If you are wanting to stay and have good location to center, don't stay here.
