Check in was at the bar. Bartender was more interested in bar customers than dealing with guests.

This is our second stay here in two years and has always been comfortable and quiet with great hosts.

The hot tub was great and the breakfast was the best!

Most hotels in the Reykjavik area seem to fall into two categories: either near the city center, or off on their own where you need to rent a car. The Laxnes was perfect, as it's in a suburb about 25 minutes from the city center in a much less developed area (though there is a lot of new construction starting, so that may change). The views from the rooms are fantastic, and there are lovely nearby walks to some small waterfalls and the nearby area of Alafoss. Despite being further out, the hotel is serviced by all the Gray Line tours. This means if you want an airport transfer,to do any of the bus tours (Golden circle, blue lagoon, etc) they still come and pick you up right at the hotel for the same price as if you were in one in the city. For tours like the Golden Circle or Laxnes horse farm, it's even more convenient, as the buses just swing by on their way out, as this hotel is in that direction. To get to the city there is a stop for the 15 bus directly on front of the hotel. Buses come every 15 minutes during rush periods, and every half an hour at other times, all the way to midnight. There is a very good Straeto app where you can look up routes, track the buses, and even buy your bus passes. 2 of us used one app, as it lets you buy tickets for multiple riders. When looking up times, the stop at the hotel is Haholt, and the closest to the city shopping area is Hlemmur. We used the buses every day, and even during heavy snows they ran on time essentially to the minute

The staff were excellent towards us. The motel is just so so. Needs some repairs and a little updating and love. Location fine. Saw the best Aurora appearance out our window.

Took my family of four to this hotel. Had everything we needed, including free breakfast, which is a huge deal because food in Iceland is pricey. The staff were all absolutely wonderful - so helpful, kind to my kids. Helped us handle the activities we booked. It was a great stay and we will definitely be back.

good location with nice staff. However, this is a motel, not a hotel. The room upstairs widow has a lot wind noise and the hallway has strong scent. The breakfast is very basic.

Easy check in. Less than a block from a bus station and multiple restaurants and grocery stores.

We could see the New Years fireworks out the window! Clean hotel and verrrrry nice staff! Very helpful with tours and questions!

It's a budget hotel outside of Reykjavik so you really get what you pay for. There are no toiletries provides aside from liquid hand soap and shampoo, no pens for writing notes or postcards (we couldn't even get one from the front desk) but the room we stayed in was very spacious with a great view. Continental breakfast wasn't our taste but there's a great bakery just a block away.

Hotel was clean, comfortable beds, quiet. Good proximity to grocery store and restaurants.

Hotel Laxnes is outside of the capital which we liked. It is like a motel more than a hotel. There are about 26 rooms so it is small. The breakfast was very good. The room was basic but nice. Parking was right at the door. The staff were very nice.

Hotel Laxnes is only a short bus ride from Reykjavik, yet is remote enough to see the northern lights on a clear night. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy :-)

We decided to make the drive outside of Reykjavik and stay at the HOtel Laxnes. I was expecting it to be more isolated and in the country but it wasn't but a few minutes drive and we were in beautiful Icelandic countryside. Very clean and roomy room. Breakfast was typical scandinavian, which was fine with us. We were able to drive from the hotel straight to the Golden Circle. The drive from Reykjavik wasn't bad at all. Overall a good place to stay. we had a great view of the volcano from our room.

This is a nice hotel to use as a jumping off place to visit other areas of Iceland, but I would recommend staying in Reykjavik for city activities and touring. The breakfast was typical European style; the room was a nice size and had a nice view of the mountains.

Laxnes ( http://www.hotellaxnes.is ) is an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The location is convenient for Golden Circle travel. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious and much better than expected. Hotel is within walking distance to two supermarkets. We had a nice dinner in ‘White Knight - Hviti Riddarinn’ (restaurant and sport bar) across the street. Alafoss factory outlet ( http://alafoss.is/ ) is within 5 minutes driving. The regular prices are approximately the same everywhere, but in overstock section you can purchase traditional Iceland sweater for $30-40! We will definitely return to Laxnes hotel.

The staff is wonderful and informative which makes any travel great. Next, there are a couple of buses 15, 18 that stop in front of the hotel from morning until 11pm that take you directly into Reykjavik which is very nice! There is a GREAT bakery that is about a four minute walk from the hotel along with a 24 hour gas station for those late night cravings right there and two grocery stores that are also across the street as well. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely book the hotel in the future when I return back to Reykjavik. I felt safe in the area as I am a woman traveling by myself.
