Postives: 1) Location - great for exploring the area between Jokulsarlon and Skaftafell, right next to Hofskirkja. 2) Free and fast WiFi connection. 3) Buffet breakfast included in the room price. 4) Kettle in the room with complementary tea and coffee, but no milk. Negatives: 1) Even though breakfast was scheduled from 7.30-9.30, most of the food ran out before 9 o'clock everyday. 2) The room and bathroom were very small - it was difficult to fit two people and the luggage in. 3) No fridge in the room. 4) No TV. 5) Room was not cleaned/serviced during our stay. 6) There was a big gap around the door, letting the light in from the corridor during the night. 7) One thin pillow per bed - no extra pillows were available.
Room was very small but clean. Thank you for the Birthday note and bottle of Champagne - nice touch! For the price I was a bid disappointed with the room size and Breakfast choices. Staff was friendly and attentive. Traveled around Iceland and stayed at nicer places at half price. Next time would consider another place.
We stayed one night as part of a tour. The rooms are basic and tiny but clean. There is no screen on the windows so if you get hot (as it did in August when we were there) opening the window lets in bugs. There is a list of fees for damaging things or stolen towels, etc. which gives it that hostel vibe. The meals were good but there is no place nearby or at the hotel to get a snack if you're not there at mealtime. It was okay for one night but I wouldn't want to be there longer.
Had a one night stay in this cosy hotel. We stayed here on an overnight group tour of the area and the hotel was included in that rate. My single room, looking out on the mountain behind, was very small. It had a private bathroom but the toilet area was so small I could hardly fit in! The shower was a good size. However, it was impossible to prevent water from leaking onto the floor. The bed was a bit soft for my taste but had a nice thick duvet. Our group had a buffet dinner in the dining room. I opted for the soup/bread meal which was more than adequate with a homemade thick soup and crusty bread. The breakfast was OK with cold selections only e.g. hard boiled egg, salad, cheese, meat, yogurt with toppings. Note that this is a very quiet area with no shops or restaurants within walking distance. The hotel does not have a vending machine for drinks or snacks.
It’s a clean hotel with nice staff, but it has very small rooms, most with shared bathrooms, views to the parking lot if you are lucky - The pricing is even for Icelandic standards not worth it. For a hostel it would be amazing, for a hotel in that price category not.
We ended up here since Hof 1 is one of the fewest in the area of Skaftafell and because We wanted to try some Icelandic dish. The furniture could have been improved; when you get there, entering from the main door you would notice the waiting room is utterly characteristic furnished in typical Icelandic way. The dining room is not at the same level as the waiting room, fewer details, more anonymous, I would say. The food we have tested has satisfied our palates, even though it was not a proper Icelandic food (vegan burgers and a couple of Icelandic beers). The service is great, always careful to the need of clients! I would come back here once again if I do another trip to Iceland, hopefully, they would improve some details. I am conscious to have been to a restaurant that has high potential to grow in the next years!
The ratio quality/price was the worst during our 15-days-staying in Iceland. The price is ridiculously high for a double room with shared bathroom and only breakfast included. We paid nearly €400 for two nights and the stuff wasn’t even able to seat us for dinner. Bad stay, not recommended to anyone.
We book 3 rooms, 2 single rooms and 1 double bed room. The room was super nice and cosy, with private bathroom in each rooms. the breakfast was good with many selection. Now the currently hotel name is called as Hof Adventure hotel. the views for the double rooms was super nice!!! it is facing the mountains.
We spent one night here, and it worked out great! We arrived too lated for dinner, but the complimentary breakfast was good quality and offered a variety of items. The rooms were clean and updated, and the beds were comfortable. There are no bathrooms in the rooms, but there were 2 bathrooms near our room which were easy to get to with little wait time to use. The hotel is conveniently located between Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park. I would stay here again!
When I found out that our tour stayed overnight in a tiny hotel in Hofn I figured it would be a bit run down. I was happily surprised. the rooms were very well appointed and very comfortable. the onsite restaurant was very nice as well and the food was good. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Just the right start to a day filled with outdoor adventures!
