How do I start. For a five star hotel, we seek for ultimately good experience. I am torn between happy and sad thus the grade of unsatisfactory: The bad: 1. The room was so small for a 3 person. We booked an event with them using their business lounge with 30 guest. They know we are 3 guys and still book us with the smallest room, the room when we arrived had not been set up. We were right there when they are setting up the 3rd bed. Though the housekeeping were kind. 2. You need to ask from reception Dental and shaving kit when in fact it should be mandatory even in 3 stars hotel. 3. The reception is not consistent. Some of them were not so kind. When I asked about Lounge access, they will arrogantly say if you are VIP yes you can while in other hotels, lounge access can be given or can be requested depending on the activity or room you booked. 4. The pillow maybe are dirty, I got breakouts when I stay there. The good: 1. The hotel is near the road so expect noise but as long as the windows are closed, you’ll be fine as the windows are so sound proof, I was amazed to be honest! 2. The breakfast was quality. But you’ll get tired of it if you stay 4 days.. they don’t change breakfast menu unlike other 5 star hotels. 3. Housekeeping is okay, place is okay, have gym and jacuzzi we were able to use.
Stayed at the hotel just over 2 weeks ago.. enjoyed every minute! The rooms were so comfortable, the facilities were great, the staff always helpful and courteous. The lobby is beautiful and spacious.. breakfast was fabulous too! Very centrally located in Tverskaya street and close to Mayakovskaya Metro station.
We had a very nice 5 day stay in this hotel to get to see and know Moscow. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well air conditioned and the bed was good. There was no noise coming from the street so the sleeping experience was very good. Hotel breakfast was a buffet style, really broad and delicious. Also hotel location was very good, a little away from the most expensive places around the red square, but close to a Metro station which we used extensively every day (eg. 2 stops to red square (5mins)). Hotel Wifi also worked properly. Overall a very nice stay and based on this experience, a hotel, that we would choose again to our next Moscow visit.
A really well positioned Hotel in close proximity to Red Square and most essential sites and things to do. The Metro is easy to use and nearby. A great variety of good restaurants in easy walking distance both on sides of the 6 lane road way accessed by underpasses. Clean comfortable rooms excellent room service. Good breakfast....but very unsure what happened to the egg chef....overall an older hotel but very comfortable with great staff and service.
i have stayed there a few times . on last stay i was especially impressed as I was emailing the front office manager, Natalia Makarova with some specific requests, She took the time and effort to to answer me promptly and take care of everything i needed. The personalized attention to detail is highly appreciated. Nice breakfast and great executive lounge with a full dinner service. I will be back there for sure.
Unlike many of the other reviews I found the hotel location lacking. We saw many other hotels with better location to major attractions and the finer shopping and restaurants The hotel was fine however as in ST P. language was an issue Breakfast offering was varied and good quality
The hotel is a typical big Marriot which means you know what you get before you arrive. It reflects brand expectations well: comfirmatable well sized rooms, breakfast, bar, gym etc. It is not bad, but also not specificalyl memorable, kind of like driving a Ford Focus. "It does the job". What sets this one apart is the super location; a short walk from the very core of Moscow, the shopping and tourist districts - realy, its worth staying here alone for that. The service is a bit hit and miss - bar staff a bit slow or not attentive; check in staff friendly but not going out of their way to be extra caring, breakfast service a little sloppy, taking too long to clear plate setc. For the price paid it is fair; for ther location great. But do not expect to be "wowed"....
This property is really very beautiful surrounding by nice staff members. Breakfast was big with lots of choices but the service was not good. Lack of experience and everyone running as if it’s marathon day. But really very beautiful place and calm as well. If you go there , please enjoy your holidays without expecting great service
As I expected, big hotels always missing attention to details. Location is superb, rooms need remodeling. Sofa in a room had oily dirty soiled armrests. Sink in the bathroom drained slowly but it was fixed promptly upon request. Carpets in hallways kept the old smell, moist and cigarettes (some guests still smoke even though it is not allowed). The good thing, you can air out your room easily as you can open windows in the rooms. Air-conditioning works well and it is quiet. Executive lounge has a beautiful second floor but if you dine there you might not get any service, so most dine on main floor. Staff is hit or miss, some lazy some attentive. If you want your room clean at certain time - you better let the hotel know, as they try to neglect staying guests and priority is given to those who already checked out (which is understandable as the hotel nearly sold out and it needs a quick turn around on inventory) but yet - if the hotel is full, hire extra maids! One time in particular that ruined our stay, was when we returned to the hotel after running errands around the city and heard in a hallway loud conversation among two people. At first we thought we have noisy neighbors , but to our disbelief argument was coming from our room. The door was wide open - for anyone to see our belongings who was passing by. I asked the employees what were they doing in our room? I was told that they check housekeeping job (hmm, room was cleaned at 8-9am and we already used it between then and now 15:00). That was a weak explanation, we had no mini-bar either, so there was absolutely no reason for those two women be in our room in our absence (especially room was used by us after morning cleaning!) Moreover, instead of leaving graciously with apologies , a woman who introduced herself as a housekeeping manager, demanded for me to prove if I am staying in the room. I had to demonstrate if my key to the room can open it. That boiled my nerves! Lesson learned - always keep 'Do not disturb" sign on your door. Just because you paid for the room and expect privacy observed at all times , employees might think otherwise. Concierge is wonderful, bar personnel is excellent. A large property, and no one knows your name nor face - if you are looking for recognition - look elsewhere, here you are just a revenue. ...next please! I will avoid staying here next time I am in town.
We had booked two Deluxe rooms, but got upgraded to Executive (though without lounge access). The hotel was kind enough to give us connecting rooms - one double & one twin. Rooms were large & clean, even if the decor was slightly dated. Bathrooms were very good sized too. The hotel is situated on Tverskaya Street in the heart of Moscow, & the Red Square is a 20 minute walk away. The nearest metro station, Mayakovskaya, is not only very convenient, but also one of Moscow's prettiest. Apart from the great location, surrounded by cafes, shops & convenience stores, the hotel itself is lovely - large, with a spacious lobby, lovely on-site restaurant & bar, & smiling, efficient staff. Breakfast, at the Samobranka dining room, was an elaborate affair likely to satisfy all. Overall, recommended!
