Springhill Suites by Marriott Morgantown

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Staff was polite friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Close to many places to eat.

Booked this room after staying across town in another Marriot Hotel; room was pre-paid yet Springhill charged me again for the room. Front desk called and woke me out of a dead sleep around 4 a.m. asking about a fire alarm the previous afternoon. Couldn't get back to sleep so I checked out and got a room elsewhere. Have been back TWICE to get the room double charge taken care of with no luck. Am now forced to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

I was impressed by everything about the Springfield Suites in Morgantown West Virginia. The proximity to the highway, downtown, the grocery store and places to eat and the complimentary breakfast buffet. The gym and swimming pool were a plus! cannot, however, recommend it to any of my friends because of the Gideon bible hidden in the bedside drawer. Offensive if you ask me.

Great location, as well as beautiful and well taken care of, the staff was polite and helpful.

The hotel was beautiful classy the lady at the front desklets just say was nNOT the nicest

we especially enjoyed the free breakfast and the pool

Just remember Col Kurtz's line towards the end of the movie Apocalypse Now, 'the horror ...the horror'. There are several issues with this place. The front of the hotel is adjacent to a fast food restaurant's outside ordering line. You get to hear every line of every order being placed there. So we asked to move to the back of the hotel where it was quiet. The rooms are nice enough but we came across an issue that I have seen once or twice before in end units. For whatsoever reason, I suspect a construction issue, the sounds from adjoining rooms are both transmitted and amplified into the end unit. What does that mean? It means that someone putting a coffee cup down in the next room sounds like a gunshot in yours. People knocking on the door of an adjoining room rattles your door. I'm serious. I mean the door rattles in the frame!. Oh yes...the door. This hotel is one of those that use heavy steel doors with no dampening so when closed they slam hard ..and very loud. Brilliant. One extra added attraction was gangs of kids, 8-12 or so running up and down the hallways screaming and laughing like it was their private playground and this was at 10 until 11:30 at night. For some reason the staff there is fine with that. The kicker was that the night we were there the temperature dropped to about 32 degrees. There was ice on puddles in the driveway . I go to turn the heat on at about 2 AM and the heat would not come on. I wasn't about to have some janitor come up at the time with the very little sleep we got that night. So I called the front desk and asked them to note it. The next morning we go down to where they served breakfast, which was pretty good but the area where you are was WAY too small. You are packed in there like sardines and can't move without jostling someone of being jostled. I used to work for Marriott and was expecting a decent stay considering the 4 star ratings from people. Now I expect that those folks with their high ratings of this place are the insufferable Yuppie parents of the obnoxious kids that kept us awake so long. Never again.

Went up for an eye procedure at one of the local hospitals and the hotel allowed me to check in early so that I could get to my procedure and come back and go right to my room. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

Clean,quiet,peaceful........wonderful place to stay!

The room is very comfort! It is quite easy for one to go to dream if he/she lies on the bed. One morething is that it will be better if it provides more types of foods for breakfast.

Only there long enough to seep six hours.

The room was clean but very small. The TV sits between the sitting area (very nice) and the beds, so you have to turn it to watch it and then it blocks the passage way to the beds/bathroom. Breakfast was good and plentiful and snacks are available 24 hours. There is little insulation and we could hear people walking in the room above us as well as hall noise.

My son & I were visiting Morgantown for a basketball tournament. I would rate this hotel in the top 10 I have EVER stayed in. Friendly, helpful front desk and the hotel was modern/clean - I give it 5 stars! You won't be disappointed staying at this location.

The room is very clean and tidy, spacious enough for three people, has all necessary amenities, but not a full kitchen, only paper plates and plastic utensils, no pots or range to cook meal. We were allowed to check in as early as noon time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was small, water was cold and not very clean. Breakfast is fine, with limited variety, but has some hot items. The only bad thing I can't tolerate is the very loud washing and showering noise coming from either side of the neighboring room, woke me up early in the morning.

We were traveling to Washington DC and used this as midway point. Great place to stop
