Holiday Inn Morelia3.0 out of 5.0

lobby has a lot to be desired. Needs some paint. Receptionsits need to be hot more courteous>. Bell boy was very polite and explained all amenities. Hotel offers tennis courts and courts have broken down nets. Hotel has good location. It sits in front of a shopping center where you can get food at later hours. Breakfast bufete is good but often ran out of sweet bread and orange juice. You would have to wait a while until they noticed they where out and would bring more out. Hotel is clean and for the price can't complain much. Not to Holiday inn standards
You will not find anything different from other Holiday Inn hotels: average food, average service, cleanliness and employee badly learnt kindness. Since Morelia is a small city, almost everything is close to the hotel (even the Holiday Inn express is walking distance) Pool area is very small and very cold in the mornings. The bed mattresses have a protective plastic cover between the actual mattress and the bed sheets that will make you sweat, and be uncomfortably hot. Other than that, if you stay for a couple days and not spending all the time at the hotel, it will meet your needs.
The hotel is old and does need some refurnished (old carpet) but they have excellent service. The rooms were very clean. We had a room facing the gardens and it was great. There is a nice and clean pool which was excellent for our 8 year old. But a bit too chilly for our toddler. The breakfast was quite okay with a variety of fruit, chilaquiles, and other options. And also you can ask for eggs any style or pan cakes. There is a mall just across the street with lots of restaurants and shops. We walked to Solar de Villagran just a block away and had a great meal in a lovely place. The things we did not like was that they have plastic disposable cups for water and coffee in the rooms. In my personal opinion it looks very cheap and not very environmentally friendly. Also while they are cleaning the rooms all the linens are left outside each room so it is not a nice view of the hotel with all the dirty linens while you are walking down the aisles. Overall it was a great stay.
It is really discusting that no one in the hotel speaks English. This is a chain hotel not a local one. It is not acceptable even front desk does not speak English. Terrible food. Not recommend to any one.
The hotel is centrally located close to the shopping strip in a quiet neighborhood. It has a parking garage so you can actually leave your car there and walk to some of the city's attractions. The room was nice and clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom clean. It is an OK hotel for a night or two in Morelia. It is very much to the Holiday Inn standards.
Location of the hotel is pretty safe as it is located in comercial district. Size of room good. Entrence door good standard. But all this means nothing if you concider that the lock of the glass door to the backside was broken. Breakfast was good normal Holiday Inn standard, better than Express standard. The worst that happen to our group was that we found a bedbugg in the morning of our last day. We presented this to the reseption, but they where not suprised and we didn´t get an excuse. Last thing was that the Taxi we ordered for 4 persons with luggage through reception, showed up being for 3 persons. Might not be problem of hotel, but it created delay for us to get a new Taxi to the airport.
Just across the street from one of Morelia’s main shopping center, the Holiday Inn Morelia is located. The location is fair, as it is close to downtown or the industrial zone, making convenient for leisure and business travelers alike. A plus is that as a guest, parking is included in the rate. The hotel is dated, and it shows in the lobby, the corridors and the carpets in the bedroom. The lobby is large and has a strange distribution, but at least is functional. There is a restaurant and in the morning they open a space for buffet breakfast. This is very crowded during weekends. Food for breakfast is fine and room service is also acceptable. The restaurant is okay too, but the service is slow. The gym lacks maintenance, as some equipment was not functional. Also, it is too small and is uninviting. The hotel also has a pool, which seems nice; never tried it. In addition, just next to the hotel are some gardens and a running track (400m). It is in very bad shape but managed to use it. The rooms are enough for a business travel. Not big, but not too small. The bathroom is marble, however the WC is not very functional and the shower is consistently regular in several rooms. There are some drains which look disgusting. The amenities are standard and are the same than all the Holiday Inns. The beds are comfortable and come with duvets. Usually all business travelers will get two beds. It seems that’s the way to go with the chain. As the property is not very new, to get energy contacts is not so easy. Moreover there is internet, but sometimes does not work properly. The room is okay, but they never seem to clean certain parts as behind the doors. Knowing it is average, I would stay again just because its comfortable location.
Not a bad place to stay in Morelia. The hotel is centrally located, huge lobby is nice, two dining options, great breakfast buffet with real Mexican specialties like chilaquiles (yum!), professional staff and clean bedroom. Only drawback is that wifi was very poor and I had to work from the lobby. The decor is dated and halls need work
There is a mall across the street. Music outloud and Windows are not sealed so don't expect to sleep until 3 am when the bar closes. Bed is formless same as pillows so expect a back pain in the morning. Smell on the hallways is weird. Bad experience
I stayed with my mum for three nights. First, I asked for handicap access and was sent to the third floor, almost the last room. Two medium towels for two women? The card next to the washbasin says to leave the towels on the hook if you want them not to be washed, they were taken each night, and not replaced. And they were rough, like they don't use any softener. Day I arrived, no bellhop until I was at the reception counter. Last night, 10PM, my keys were disabled. I walk the most long walk down to the desk, and the woman there tells me my reservation was for two nights, when I had paid for three. After much discussion, she double checks and realises that I am right, enables the bloody things and gives them back without so much as a good night, let alone the apology I was due! Morning comes and there is no coffee service on the desk, and it took half an hour and two calls to the desk to get it. To add insult to injury, the iron and ironing board stayed out since I arrived until I came out. Will I ever go back? NO!
