Very unpleasant and unprofessional experience! The sheets were not changed after the previous guests and there were dirty mattresses and pillows were maybe 30 years old! I informed the owner about it but he seems not to care at all. We left and found a much better place, after this experience he keeps on harassing me and calling me names through Airbnb.

If you like to have your butt kissed and need room service, there are plenty of places for you to go on Moorea, but if you want to stay in a charming spot as the guest of a really great guy, then this is for you. The cottages aren't super fancy, but each one is unique, hand built, comfortable, and full of charm. Mark will go waaaaaay out of his way to be sure that you have everything you need and is super stoked to help you find those amazing experiences that make a trip so special. Rent a kayak or SUP to get out on the water to watch the surfers rip out at the best break on the island, or see the dolphins frolic in the lagoon. Short version - If you're a cool, interesting person who likes other cool, interesting people, then I hope to see you at Mark's next time I'm in Moorea. If you're difficult or have a hard time enjoying yourself, you may want to make other plans.

I don’t understand some of these bad reviews. We stayed at Mark’s Place for 5 days and loved it. Our unit was fully equipped with a nice terrace. We had a rental car (better have a rental car to fully enjoy Moorea), and discovered the beautiful island of Moorea every single day. We rented canoes at Mark’s Place and early in the morning we went to see the dolphins in the pass. About 20 dolphins stayed jumping and swimming around our canoes for at least half an hour. Such an experience. Many nights, we stayed outside star gazing. Other days we drove to other nice beaches of the island, bathed and sunbathed, swam with stingrays and black tip sharks, hiked up the abrupt rocks to the Belvedere, went shopping in the local Tahitians grocery shop and had drinks here and there. Marks is a nice and cool person. A hard working man. He has built all the houses himself. An incredible task by itself. His family is Polynesian. They are awesome. Every one is different, original and colorful. I compare them to a Hobbits village and wish Mark would make it even more Hobbit-style. The place is in nature and we liked the proximity of the mountains and the forest. It is clearly different from air-conditioned homogenized resorts. It has good internet. His prices are reasonable and fully inline with what you get. We will go back.

I stayed in Fare Fetia from Sep. 7-9/18. Great location, beautiful property. The bed, sheets & pillows were uncomfortable, but the gorgeous outdoor shower & garden made up for that. Roosters and dogs barked all night and morning every day - ear plugs are a must!!! YouTube video shows a tv, but there was no tv in my room. Mark was great at first, although perhaps a little inappropriate at times (telling me about the other guests being "wild & crazy" b/c they had dreadlocks and were vegan). After I missed a tour I had booked through him (slept through my alarm, since I had just arrived in French Polynesia after 2 days of flying), he was highly offended and confronted me about it, taking it personal. Saying things like "I thought you were different", "you just seem a lot different than when we first picked you up", and then going on to say how he worked so hard for ppl to book tours, went out of his way to make that tour happen for me, and that maybe he "should stop for a while". He went on and on, telling me how everyone was waiting on me and the tour company only came to pick me up especially, so and so forth. It was an awkward and uncomfortable conversation, but it did end amicably.

Ferry ride from Tahiti took 30 mins and bus driver dropped me off at this very idyllic spot . An assortment of different accommodation is situated in the grounds overlooked by mountains and close to the sea. Moreau is a lovely small island and easily explored by bike or car ! The owner Mark was friendly and gave time and opportunity to welcome me to this small family run business .

Stayed 2 nights at Mark's place this week. Couldn't have been better! Mark is a great host and does whatever he can to make your stay as comfortable as can be. Conveniently located: 10min walk to the nearest (small) shop, 5min ride on push bike to another one that is larger. Nice and clean bungalows. Would surely return there on a next holiday at Moorea.

I experienced from first hand the unstable and terrible ways of the owner of this place. He tried to scam us on a rental ( doubled the price between when we asked him how much to 5 minutes later when we were paying) when I called him out on it he lost his mind, took his shirt off and wanted to fight me!! Super sketchy guy, and not a good place to begin with! Avoid staying here at all costs, you don't want your vacation ruined, Read the reviews, and be warned... This place SUCKS!!

We stayed at Mark's Place from 4th July to the 10th July 2017. Mark's Place is unique, cool, interesting, calm, peaceful and worth your while getting to. All places in life, which may pose a little bit more effort getting to and a little it more getting from, are always worth the experience. The bungalows are a piece of art, for those who appreciate carpentry, aesthetics and thoughtfulness, please stay at Mark's Place. My sister, my daughter and I had a very special time at Mark's Place. Mark is a wealth of information on the local area and especially where good food and shell collecting is (never taking shells that Hermit Carbs need)! We will never, ever forget what a wonderful time we had at Mark's Place and now, I really miss being there. So, to finish my review off, stay there, do the usual things when travelling (mosquito coils, citronella, long sleeves), enjoy the evenings looking a the stars in peace. It has been my pleasure reviewing Mark's Place. From Bernice

One of the most accommodating hosts we have ever encountered, Mark was ready to help us with any activities we wanted to do and had great suggestions for how to spend our time. We used the kayaks and bikes all day! The surf was pumping! Had a really good session out at ha'apiti but snapped my leg rope. It's an epic spot and shouldn't be missed and the crowd wasn't to hectic. Mark was happy to lend me one of his as there are no surf shops on the island. So I could continue surfing. We really enjoyed the bungalows as they were the island feel we were looking for with comfort. Mark does a great job working around the clock as it seems to keep all of his guests needs fulfilled. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an island style getaway! Thanks again mark hope to see you soon!

Mark's place is an AMAZING place for anyone who loves nature and quiet places to relax. All the "Village" created by the bungalows and the beautiful park is lovely and enjoyable. I stayed in Fare Tiare. Kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped. Bedroom and living room are confortable (great bed and couch) even for the small space available. The only "bad" part is that you're really far from everything. There's a magasin (shop) nearby but it's probably the worst in whole Moorea. The nearest Beach is Panapo, 15min by bike (you can't get there walking). However, all these "bad" things are covered if you Rent a scooter or a car (we Rent a scooter with Mark's assistance). So, you MUST rent something to move, but it's completely worthy. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel experience, I wouldn't recommend marksplace (there WILL be bugs, you're in the middle of the jungle), but if you're looking for a great place, with amazing nature experience and wish to know Moorea besides the hotels and luxury, this is the place for you.
