The 2 of stitched together a trip through the East, and Montreal ( celebrating their 375th founding anniversary ) was on the list! This hotel fit our bill perfectly. Very European, in that is small, no elevator, and in an urban setting. No views to speak of , but comfortable, highly efficient, and great location near the Metro, hop on/off bus, walking to old Montreal, and all the bars and restaurants, let alone theatres, you would want. Agree that is can be a bit off-putting after sunset ( street people, etc.) but that is the default of most cities these days. We felt safe, and the staff were amazing. American plan, so expect pastries, in room espresso and juice in the mornings. Charming, and highly recommended.

We were on the ground floor, in room 103 at the back of the hotelThe room is quiet and private, very clean, and with a very nice but fairly small bathroom. This was a great location for walking to Vieux Montreal and the Old Port, Chinatown, and through a lot of Montreal neighborhoods, and it's a block from the metro station for easy access to almost any part of Montreal. We loved the in-room coffee maker and the lovely little basket of croissants, juice and muffins each morning.

We just spend two nights at Le Relais Lyonnais in room 103. Room 103 is on the main floor at the back of the house. Very quiet and away from the street noise. The Theatre St. Denis is directly across the street, so perfect if you are attending a concert. Many restaurants/bars at your disposal. The check-in was smooth and the very helpful gentleman provided us with a local map. He also gave us suggestions for vegetarian dining and jazz clubs. We were pleasantly surprised with a selection of small muffins/croissants each morning, along with two orange juice and water bottles daily. The fridge is a good size (holds a wine bottle and beers). The bed is very firm. Almost too firm... but I much prefer this over a soft bed. The bathroom is very modern and clean. I'm not sure how they keep their grout spotless! My only complaint (and not the hotel's fault) is the number of homeless people right outside your door. The first morning we got up, there were four people sleeping under the staircase of the main entrance. Scared the living daylights out of me! Also, when returning home in the evening, they follow you right to your door and speak in french very rapidly... you have no idea what they are saying, but they clearly want money. It makes you nervous. I'm not sure if this is reflective of all of Montreal. I would stay here again if attending a concert, but I might try a different neighbourhood if I was returning for another reason... just to try and get away from the homeless gangs.

We staid in Room 202 , at the back of the building, on a Monday night. The room was an average size, very clean and had all that a traveller needs. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with quality produce and spotlessly clean. The hotel was quiet in early April but I suspect that, in warmer weather, noise could be a problem as it is conveniently located in an area with a lot of restaurants with patios and directly across from Theatre St Denis, a major entertainment complex. A continental breakfast of juice, coffee, croissants and muffins was provided to our door. There was more than we could eat and more available if we should have wished more. The owners of the establishment were extremely helpful in providing us information on dining options. All in all, we would stay there again but would be prepared for late night noise if there on a fine weather weekend.

We were disappointed by this hotel, despite many good reviews on TA. We were in room 101, the front room on the ground floor. There's a lot of noise from the lively street, and also from the door next to reception which adjoined our bedroom door and caused everything in our room to shake every time someone went in or out. This woke us up early every morning when breakfasts were delivered. We had to keep the dark brown blinds closed if we didn't want to be in full view from the street, which made the room very dark. The noise from the street continues until very late at night, and traffic starts early in the morning. The breakfast was minimalist to say the least: 3 small pastries to share between 2 people, plus one 300 ml bottle of orange juice. No bread. It was left outside our room in a basket every morning, and we ate it in our room with coffee we made ourselves, as there was no communal area. The coffee machine in our room and the capsules provided were very good. However there were plenty of places close by where we could get a proper breakfast. Reception was not always manned. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around and begging in the street outside, and numerous obvious drug users, which made the whole area seem quite seedy. I wouldn't want to stay in this area if we return, even though it's quite close to the Berri UQAM metro station and the terminus of the airport bus.

We went there as a couple for show we were attending at the Theatre St-Denis. The hotel is a really nice little place. The room was very clean and furnished with taste. The hotel is really well located, right in front of the Theatre St-Denis. The pricing was surprisingly low. We will certainly go there again.

We arrived around midnight on a Saturday. We found on street parking pretty easily and headed off to the hotel. An awning welcomed us to the front entrance. We obtained our keys and headed upstairs to our suite. The shower was great. Nothing special but an excellent value in a really great spot for dining. There are hundreds of cool bars and great restaurants within a $8 cab ride. We would go back.

This was an amazing little gem on the border of the Latin Quarter and Village. My friend and I had rooms 301 & 302- the only two rooms on the third floor (also top floor of hotel). One had a balcony overlooking Rue St. Denis while the other had a big terrace in the back of the hotel. My only regret is that we were there in winter and couldn't enjoy the outdoor spaces. It is walking distance to Old Montreal and metro system is a block away. Next time I'm in Montreal I will be staying here!

We stayed for two nights and it was the ideal hotel. Very clean, room was well appointed and it's in a great location. The Orange Line Metro is a block away that takes you to the Centre of Montreal plus close to the old quarter as well. The airport bus (747) is a block away as well. This takes about 45 minutes in good traffic. Albert at the Desk is very helpful and has good local knowledge.. Definitely would stay again.

Charming, clean, warm and comfortable are just a few words that I can think of when I think of this hotel. We only stayed for one night (NYE) but that one night truly made an impression on us. Walking distance to the subway and Old Montreal this place will be one I will recommend to any and all who plan on staying in Montreal.
