Hotel Quartier Latin Montréal

1) Property is next door to a strip club! Interesting how this wasn't mentioned anywhere in the hotel's bio but word of warning - You will hear their their loud music all night long! So if you need your sleep you will want to really think about this. I did complaint to the front desk and to their defense, they did offered to move me to another room. But I just didn't see how this could possibly change things and opted to check out early (and each the cost of an unused night) 2) Homeless people roaming the streets, sometimes in small groups. This is scary and intimidating especially if you are traveling solo or traveling late/early when it is dark. You will be approached as you walk down the street for money or sit outside in one of the cafe's or bars, etc. Funny how they all have the same story: "Excuse me, I have now been living on the street for 4 days and haven't had anything to eat. Could you please give me some money". But if you get suckered into this you will be out of all of your cash by the end of the block. 3) The hotel rooms don't have individual air/heat controls. Instead the front desk controls a centralized unit that heats the entire building. Meaning if you are cold, you can't adjust the heat in your own room. Or if you are roasting (like we were in July), hope you enjoy sleeping in 86 degree temperatures with no fan. Really..pony up some extra bucks and stay someplace else and enjoy your trip

Great location. Awesome for the price. Comfortable bed.

Have a great time there. I will recommend the area. Very exciting place.

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room was small but it was a perfect size for me because I was traveling alone. My room was next to a club or something, and I could hear the music till very late. It did not bother me, but if you are a light sleeper, it could be a problem. The location is great. I took the express bus from the airport, and the bus stop is just a few minutes away from the hotel. The same is true about the metro stop. There are tons of restaurants around where you can it. There are a lot of people outside even late at night so you don't walk through deserted streets

Hotel was in a great location, many restaurants within walking distance, perfect for what I needed, which was a one night layover.

When we first saw the hotel, we were excited about staying right in the middle of the Latin Quarter. However, we were disappointed with the service we received. The night attendant was outwardly rude to us! It seemed we were bothering him every time we asked him a question. As for the room, it was clean and had all the amenities expected of a budget hotel. Our room was located in the back, away from all the noise of St. Denis Street. I would recommend this hotel, but I won't because of the bad service we received. It's a shame, considering how comfortable this room was.

The best point about this hotel is its location which locates near the Big subway station 'Berris Uqam'.

the room was small, but clean .very good staff. the stay was very good. will go back.

Great value as long as you don't expect too much. Staff helpful. Amenities reasonably clean with everything you need for a short stay. Room quiet considering the noise level just outside.

The location of this hotel is pretty good. The Berri-Qaum Metro station takes just 2 minutes walk.

This hotel is adequate and located in a very beautiful and fun area of Montreal. The hotel smelled like cigarettes most of the time and the room was extremely small. However the croissant breakfast was very cute and overall I had a pleasant stay.

If you want an inexpensive bed in the Latin Quarter, here you go. It is right on Rue St. Denis, next to a couple clubs. You can roll into bed and still hear the clubs, if you like (no air conditioning other than the open window - probably fine for most places in Canada). As for the rooms, they are quite small and pretty worn (deep gouges in the sink, mine didn't have the knob for hot water either, but the shower was ok). They do include a light continental breakfast which is a great value at that price. I was traveling alone which was good. I'm not sure I would stay on that road with my wife and kid, and we would not have fit in the room.

While Hotel Quartier Latin Montreal was ideally located on the main street with restaurants, bars, and shopping - and incredibly inexpensive per night - these conveniences were not enough to balance the low quality. The bath towels were paper thin. The bedspread had cigarette burn holes in it. The pillows were lumpy. There were no electric amenities (hair dryer, alarm clock, lamp). The hallways looked like a prison with the room numbers written in large, red block letters on gray slab doors without peep holes. The breakfast was 1 cup of orange juice and 1 cup of tea or coffee with EITHER a muffin or a croissant (neither fresh). But worst of all, I was awakened from a dead sleep in the middle of the night by noises more appropriate for the Gentleman's Club located next door to the hotel. When I called downstairs to complain, I was told they would "probably subside in about 15 minutes." Montreal is such a lovely city, but this hotel was the exact opposite.

Receptionist was friendly. The room was quite cold. After speaking to the receptionist, he gave us a heater and increased the room temperature. Complementary breakfast was reasonably good. Rooms are clean. Satisfied overall.

the staff was friendly and helpfull and the breakfast service was very good

Nice hotel, great location above a crepe shop. The staff wasnt rude but they werent friendly either but for the price I wasnt really complaining. Good value.

The hotel has a very good location and, even if it's shabby, the price was fair. But don't expect having a good breakfast : first of all 15min before the time they are supposed to close the kitchen, you can't get in. you have to go back to your room. It was the worst coffee we ever had. And we won't even talk about the food... Moreover, the man in charge of the breakfast was very unkind.

Perhaps there is central air, but definitely it was 80 degrees (f) in my room and the only "A/C" control I had was a fan (at least they provided a fan) Opening the window was problematic because of the noise from the other rooms. The hotel is a four-story walk-up, with the lobby on the 2nd floor (the first floor is garden-level). It is a GREAT location for shops, cafes, theatre, and the metro. The wifi was indeed free, but it was spotty, slow, and unreliable at best; mostly it just didn't work at all.

The hotel has a great location for its price but you get very loud guests and young kids trying to party all night. Rooms are small and clean. Staff is friendly.

The Staff was friendly.
