Accidentally sent payment to reserve a room for two nights while at work. Was interrupted but was aware that time was short. I had set up a couple hotels and rooms for a rental but didn't carry through on them. On this one I did. Within 5 minutes knew it was wrong if not faster, had one night and it was the wrong one. Called and asked if the day could be moved one day. No answer as nobody responded at the hotel. the Orbitz guy tried but I received nothing. The person said the hotel was not responding. Received a message from a manager and it was basically 'too bad' it is our money. If it was a longer time for me to see the error, ok. But in this case it was 5 minutes. This was very bad form with no interest in the customer, only wanted money. Horrible behavior

We were in Monterey for a dive trip and wanted a clean relaxing place with restaurants we could walk to. Svensgaard's fit the bill perfectly. Added bonus was the kitchenette where I could prepare my daily oatmeal. They place cooler of breakfast foods outside the door between 7 & 8 am with pastries, cold cereals, milk, canned juice, butter & jam. There is a Keurig in the room and they are happy to give you as many coffee cartridges as you like. Also brewed coffee in the lobby if you prefer. The pool was nicely heated and good for swimming short laps as well as playing as a family. We were warned that parking was limited but never had a problem getting a space. Some guests took advantage of the pet policy and brought their dogs. There was no obvious room damage or other impact from the pet-friendly policy for us. On our first night there was significant noise from the room above until about 10 pm but otherwise our room was quiet. There were warm chocolate chip and raisin oatmeal cookies in the lobby in the afternoon and evenings.

My girlfriend and I stayed here one night. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, but the room was fairly standard. It was small, but that didn't matter much to us, since we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel. The staff was extremely pleasant, and very helpful when we checked in. They offered us a map, and had even baked cookies. The bed was comfy, but they could have used a second night stand, or an outlet near the beds for our phones to charge.

We go to carmel fairly often. We've stayed at several hotels, but have now started repeating ones we've stayed at before. Svengaards has a great location for downtown and is affordable. The hotel a has real parking lot, which is rare is carmel. The property is better kept than most of the other quaint inns.

Clean and cozy place within walking distance of Carmel's Ocean Ave, which has all the shops and restaurants. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean and comfortable. The walls are a little thin, so if you have a noisy neighbor, the noise will permeate, but otherwise it's quiet. They drop off a decent breakfast at your doorstep in the mornings, so there's no need to go to a common area to get breakfast.. the downside is that there is nothing warm/hot in the breakfast. I would recommend looking at Svendsgaard's Inn when you're making a reservation in Carmel.

WE have been staying in Carmel for years in normally sub par old rooms. We booked this last minute and were really happy with our large room, King with fireplace and kitchen, nice jacuzzi tub and shower. Close to walk to everything etc. We alaso tried their recommended restaurants Bistro Givanni for dinner and lunch at Grasings was amazing. The only thing missing was a hot tub. Staff was great! We will be back!

Pleasant stay overall. A little bit far from beach. I like the bed and BF delivery at door every morning...,, ...,,,,,,? ..,,,,...,,

Charming hotel in a great location. Also appreciated the 15 discount at The Bistro. Delicious

Loved the breakfast package dropped off at your door each morning it was placed in a small lunch bag that I was able to take it with me to have breakfast at the beach. The room (and bed) was nice and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location was perfect! Centrally located near restaurants and activities. It was very relaxing. Staff was great and helped us late at night when our keys wouldn't work.

I've stayed here the last two summers and it is a wonderful inn right in the heart of Carmel. Rooms are generously sized with fireplaces comfy beds flat screen TV refrigerator and a yummy breakfast that is delivered to your door step each morning in a cooler. The swimming pool is a great place to unwind after your journey around Carmel and the Monterey peninsula. It's dog friendly too!

Our entire e experience at Svensgaard's Inn was wonderful. Check in was fast and easy and we received great information and recommendations to help us enjoy Carmel as first time visitors. The room was spacious and clean with a surprise ocean view. Located within walking distance of the downtown area, we easily avoided Camel's parking issues by enjoying a quick walk wherever we needed to go. Another delightful surprise wad the mini cooler delivered to our room in the morning with breakfast items to share. What a great alternative to the typical continental breakfast!

Was doing solo trip on Pacific Coast Highway. Good deal for a clean, comfortable Carmel motel. Parked car and easy walking within the quaint village. Breakfast served in a cooler to room...was breakfast and snacks for two days for me.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Svendsgaard's Inn. The staff was courteous and friendly and the dog friendly rooms were great. I was a 10 minute drive to Pebble Beach Golf Club and a short walk to downtown Carmel. I highly recommend this place!!

This hotel is a European style hotel, very reasonable price and big parks lot. Room is clean and huge. Only cons is they don't provide slipper so make sure u have ur own slipper. Over all it is very good.

Svensgaard was really good value for money. Our room was clean, the staff friendly, and the location in Carmel excellent. The only downside are the breakfasts. Because they are served to the room, the options in terms of jams, breads, cereals etc are very limited. Not great for families with fussy little kids.

Nice motel with helpful staff. Large variety of breakfast were delivered outside our door in a in a basket. Would stay there again in the fall or spring.

Really enjoyed our stay here in Camel. Location wS great for roaming around town. Room was clean and spacious and breakfast was great.

We were in Carmel for a short stay. The Inn was ideally located for us to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room had a European feel. So many pillows! Very pretty gardens and helpful polite staff.

We had a nice weekend at the Svendsgaards. It was especially nice to have a light breakfast delivered to our door each morning between 7:30 and 8 am. Nice pool. There was a fireplace in the lobby with coffee and cookies available. We would return if in Carmel again.
