The hotel is actually predominantly a time share. The reception staff are not helpful and each private owner is not based here. It took hours to check in as our "owner" Brian took our booking via booking.com and is not part of the staffing here. Check in after 4pm and check out 12pm. We came for breakfast this morning and was told that it wasn't included. Another $10! The hotel needs updating and is worthy of 2/3 stars.
My initial stay got off to a shaky start. The front desk staffs were extremely slow. It took them for forever to get out bags to our rooms. As suppose, as a New Yorker I expect everything to be somewhat fast and not so tranquil. Overall it's a very clean, warm and comfortable resort. Yes, I would stay there again.
Climbing up the driveway to the resort is reserved for he fittest. Resort was of little help. Not very friendly reception. Room was decent but needed updating. Restaurant served good food though a little pricy. Nice pool (never used it) and the grounds were fairly clean. One redeeming feature, they provided breakfast, included in the price of the room. Once you check out, service is zero and the shuttle is a ripoff. Overall, look for a better place
This property needs a facelift and Wi-Fi during my stay was not working at all. This hotel is very close to Mystic mountains and Dunns river. You get discounted price for Mystic mountain attractions. I had to cancel my last two days of stay and there were some dramas. But finally they agreed to reimburse the two nights of stay. You can save lots of money if you utilize other cab services like 'Juta' or 'Jcvtt' rather than drivers associated with the hotel.
I stayed here with my daughter in November, the apartments Are a lovely size and close to shops and activities, cleaners came in every other day, very quiet when we went, ate at the restaurant and we had the same taxi driver every time we went out. Was nice having a prepaid mobile
The suites at Mystic are being sold to investors in a bid to acquire capital to enhance the appearance of the property and to diversify the looks of the rooms. The location is amazing as you have a fabulous view of the town of Ocho Rios and the Caribbean Sea. Take a trip and spend a night, you ought not to regret the views you find from this hilltop!!
Clusters of apartments sprawled across a neatly kept complex with a great pool. Good restaurant and bar on premises. Gated driveway with security. About 4 blocks from Jimmy Buffetts, shopping and the beach area. If you dont leave in a cab, remember the Hotel is on a giant hill that you will have to hike to get back on the premises!
The resort in photos on the Mystic River Resort and spa website make it look really nice, but in reality it's so different and I struggle to believe that I am staying at the same place as the people who post the recent reviews on here. There is to much to say, so see a list below of things that were just off in my visit to the resort. -Reception lady was nice on arrival (but you soon learn that this is a one time encounter as she is not seen again and you get really unhelpful and not pleasant staff.) -room was missing the following: ~iron (but there was an ironing board)classed as a Luxury item and would not be provided. ~only had one glass in a two person room ~no hair dryer ~advertised as all areas wifi, but only provides wifi in the bar and when I asked when the wifi would be back up I was advised that it wasn't and there was wifi in the bar. ~wifi in the bar was out most of the time also. ~no toilets in the bar, reception, restaurant area. Basically you have to go to your room if you need to use the rest room. ~there was one toilet not signed and at the back of a conference room. But this was hard to find and only out desperation we located it after dinner. ~ the rooms are basic in decor but very dusty and dirty. The bathroom has been under repair several times and not a good job but a slap happy fix with loads of silicon. ~no hair dryer as this is considered a "luxury item" and not held at the resort ~no room service ~no kiosk ~the resort looks to be only one percent occupied and we are still placed at the back of the resort. The walk is baldly lit and uneven. ~all tiled areas (everywhere) are death traps when wet. ~the staff are so bored that they spend most of their time sitting around talking in their phones or to each other. Even though there looked like there was work to do. Ie messy pool area (same beer bottles and trash even 24hrs later and very murky pool.) ~the staff are the only ones who party at the bar and every male interaction has been quite inappropriate for staff of a resort to a guest. A guest anywhere should feel safe and not have men saying sexually inappropriate things etc. To be honest I haven't felt safe here and didn't want to go down for dinner but there is no room service, so you have no choice. ~dinner was classed as 'fine dining' but was very average and uneatable. ~waitress had to come back and double check the order three times and we were the only ones in the restaurant. ~no hot water in the room ~luggage will also be damaged when they take it to your room. Needless to say we have checked out and were advised that the manager would be contacting us to discuss the refund....still no response so this shows you how serious this resort is about customer service and ensuring that guests continue to come. In short don't go here unless you want to pay a high price for less than back packer accommodation and services. To be honest the reggae back packers in ocho rios is 100 times better than this place.
Very nice 2 bedroom penthouse apartment with a nice view of the pool with swim up bar... 3 very cold AC units....hot water... wifi and cable TV.... well worth the price!!! One bedroom is upstairs with a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and then another bedroom with private bathroom... nice size living room and kitchen area with fridge, stove and microwave....my friends and I would stay here again.... property is secure and safe and they have a nice bar and restaurant on site!
We found this apartment for rent on VRBO. Its an one bedroom, balcony, pool, restaurant. Our apartment also had full kitchen, living room bathroom and extra bed in living room. The resort also rents apartments. We never got to the bar or restaurant, cuz we just cooked and one night went to an barbeque place n short walk away, that was good. u can walk downtown in about 15 minutes. The driveway is very very steep. Easy to find, nice view of the city from the some of the balconys depends what building. We were in one of the first that overlooked pool (most do) and restaurant/bar. It was quiet there too at the time. April 2016. There was 4 of us with an 5 yr old. Not much to do for n five year old at the resort except swim.
