For someone who travels to luxury hotels and hideaways all over the world (as well as works in the travel industry), I would highly recommend Goldeneye to the laid back but luxurious traveler! If you have ever day dreamed of the most ideal Jamaican beach vacation, Goldeneye would be what you most likely imagined...and more! What feels like a private island off of Jamaica, Goldeneye gives guests both a pristine beach front landscape, as well as the most instagrammable lagoon huts I have ever seen! From the second you arrive at the airport, Goldeneye provides door to door service (request Laurel Blair to pick you up!!...she is a wealth of knowledge on all things on the island, guides you to authentic spots for day excursions, and she made us laugh for days...we love her!!) that wisps you away to the fantasy island that the author, Ian Flemming, dreamed up his stories of James Bond's adventures! Upon setting foot on property you take on the calming island vibes that relax you into the Jamaican mindset. The villas/huts are exactly what you would want for an island getaway. Clean and colorful, the staff takes amazing care of you (Jenny Woods and Stuart Jones the on property management are wonderful, and are always around for recommendations and feedback to make your holiday perfect!), and from dining to housekeeping, they really make you feel like family anywhere you go on property. The crowd is chic and diverse, and many couples and families have been going back for years. If you like to keep to yourself and really get away, there are enough pools, lagoons, beachfront space to grab your book, a rum punch or two, and really get away from it all. I also run marathons so fitness is always important to me. You can run around the property through the trails (one big loop is about 1.5 miles), or Goldeneye has endless water activities to do as well (Kayaking and paddle boarding off your private dock, snorkeling in the ocean, or boat rides and a swim around the lagoon! If you would rather relax they have a beautiful spa as well! Great for a solo trip, couple or family! Will definitely be going back in the years to come!

The historic home of Ian Fleming turned high end vacation paradise by Chris Blackwell is simply the best. Everything about GoldenEye is special, There is an intimacy which is hard to describe . . . And the setting is just beyond. They continue to evolve and expand without compromising the experience, no easy task. We have been twice, and will be back again.

I post this review with a heavy heart - Selfishly I want to keep Goldeneye to myself and not share it with anyone else!!! Simply put - Goldeneye is the best resort destination that we have ever been to (and we have been to a lot!), and quite possibly one of the the best places in the world! Luckily it's not easy to get to. The drive from Montego bay is long - but our awesome driver Clayton (who is also a senior staff member and awesome human being) made it as painless as possible (cold beer, rum, and a stop for lunch at the legendary Scotchies for Jerk chicken on the way). We stayed in a lagoon villa, super cool & fun outside shower, which almost spoiled the clawfoot bathtub experience for us. Breathtakingly beautiful lagoon, our own kayak to paddle around in (to the spa across from us - MUST DO)/Button beach/general fun/exploring). The lagoon is so different from the beautiful beaches that it's almost a separate vacation. Read an earlier review about the rocky/coral sea floor as you go further away from shore - and yes that is true, but a small inconvenience to have the natural beauty and authenticity of this place. If you want a perfect beach I'd suggest going to thailand, and leave Goldeneye for us ;o) Bizot bar is super sexy, trendy cool and still manages to feel authentic. Chris Blackwell is a visionary and maestro of ambience - we actually got to meet him and spend some time together as he was on property at the time...still reeling from his humble intelligence and amazing charm! This is our 5th time to the island, and my wife was reluctant to go back as it is a big world and there's lots more to see. Jamaica is a draw for me particularly for the proximity, food, rum and music. This was the best surprise to find nirvana so close to home - we live in NYC. Ther Blackwell influence totally blows this up to the nth degree! The welcome drink - the goldeneye is sensational, and we had a lot of them from that point on. Food at all of the restaurants was surprising good - The patties & curried goat at Bizot was better and more nuanced than anyplace that I can remember, and I seek this stuff out! The main formal dining is Gazebo - very good, and probably the most high end place you will find on that side of the island. They do manage to pull it off in a relaxed island way, which was pretty impressive. Certainly helped that CB himself was holding court and chatting up the diners! I had Jerk rack of lamb one night, and had a special request of jerk lobster another - not cheap, but both remarkable and well worth the expense. Kayaking, snorkeling around the offshore reef and generally exploring the sprawling property kept us pretty busy for a few days. Never felt crowded, but admittedly we were off season. We went to the Blue Hole, which is a series of waterfalls and pools in the mountains - amazing and unspoiled, compared to the Dunns river falls, which is best kept for the cruise ship crowd which does dominate tourism in the area. That being said - Goldeneye is completely the opposite of a touristy place. The main entrance doesn't even have a name plate and is set back from the road- impossible to find unless you know it. I almost expected to see mick jagger & Keith Richards drinking at the bar (which I understand is not a historically unusual event!). Visited Noel Cowards house in the mountains - Firefly. Really interesting and visually worth the journey. Blackwall has the mandate to expand/develop it, and it will probably be amazing at some point. personally the draw of the beach/lagoon is too strong to want to be in the mountains, but it has its merits. We had 5 days there, which is about 3 days too short. The place made us feel like rockstars on our own private island! I honestly can't wait to go back - so we hope nobody reads these reviews, and we get availability !

It really is paradise, just more Jimmy Choo style than barefoot. Wonderful rooms, well designed and the lagoon huts are fabulous. Service is slow at the bar, but it is Jamaica. Cocktails fabulous and the weekly buffet amazing!! Very glad I've been just not sure I'd go back....

This place is really wonderful in most ways possible , the service was good especially w the help of Sherona and Fiona at the front desk very lovely to deal with and they helped to arrange a private dinner along w a birthday cake surprise for my husbands 40th, we also did some off site things that they did a great job arranging including lunch and a driver! all and all the staff was friendly and efficient NOTE we are on island time so things come in slower speeds but with fair timelines :) our room was a lagoon cottage and was beyond beautiful the outdoor Varanda looking out on to the swimmable lagoon with private paddle board and canoes was amazing the outdoor shower and footed tub were memorable features and the bedding amazing too however if you are a light sleeper request one located closer to the main office further away from the last beach as the locals in town celebrate life till the wee hours nonetheless the property was great the food was good too despite other reviews I read before coming the drinks were fab and the property's design was chic while keeping this organic theme using natural materials and keeping the grounds impeccable the planted fruit trees by past visitors is such a unique touch and the field spa was one of the best spas I've visited in a long while the product service hospitality and talent in the spa is impressive Karine was a great therapist I enjoyed both of my treatments I can't wait to go back

This hotel is beyond expectations! The vibes, the atmosphere and especially the staff makes all so special and unique. This surrounding of calm and laid-back sophisticated is exactly what I was looking for! The fresh food for the farm, the beaches, the rooms on the lagoon where absolutely delightful and perfect! Chris Blackwell had a vision many years ago and he was able to built and maintain this secret gem , one of the best hotel in the world! The way every single person treat you is over the top! Shelly Ann at Bizot was friendly , kind and made sure, we where happy during our stay. As well as Alex Masucci, one of a kind person, someone to tell stories likes no one else can, who keep us entertained, made us laugh to tears every days and took us out to eat in town! I believe we found a friend that will be in our heart forever.... Thank you Alex ! Specials thank's to Jenny Woods, Riccardo,Romane,Talca and the charming Stuart Jones who without all of them it wouldn't be the same at Goldeneye ! YOU GUYS ROCK and we will come back very soon, One love, Nadine and Olivia

Spent last week in Jamaica at Goldeneye resort, WOW. The nature, the people, the rhythms of the gorgeous island, the history of James Bond/Ian Fleming, the food, the snorkeling, kayaking, FieldSpa, the sunsets. We stayed in Lagoon Cottage 9, it felt completely private, even with cottages on either side. Waking up to the clear turquoise water every morning, going for a swim or taking kayak out, reading on the awesome covered deck...love. Breakfast at Goldeneye is included and was fantastic. Enormous fruit plates, delicious fresh cooked entrees...everything we had was delicious. Plus, if you love coffee you'll enjoy your own French press. Cucumber Bloody Mary isn't included, but I highly recommend. Lunch and dinner was very good. I'm vegetarian/pescatarian and they tweaked a couple items and made them without meat, thank you. All the food I had, especially seafood was fabulous. Only thing was it wasn't always clear what dinner options would be, or where. It was very slow while we were there, which was a plus, but not everything was open all the time. Understandable. The vegetables and fresh fruit here are all amazing! Bizot Bar, shout out to Captain Kirk...your crafted cocktails were fabulous. Wish I could have a Black Passion in hand now. He also custom crafted several drinks for us based on our likes, delicious! We enjoyed all our visits and banter at Bizot with Captain. One night Mr. Blackwell came by and chatted with us briefly, and sent over Blackwell rum shots. The rum is super good, we ordered multiple bottles after we finished the complimentary one in the room. Don't miss Snorkeler's Cove!! Grab snorkeling gear and go out, I was in awe of all the coral formations and fish that were literally right there next to resort. FieldSpa....is oh SO worth it. I won't say too much to spoil it, but the setting is absolutely heavenly. And the therapists, I was calling them the magic hands team. I had a sports massage, and I felt like I was in a trance at times...it was magical. ...oh I miss you Goldeneye!!! Chris Blackwell....well done sir! Everyone at the Goldeneye family, thank you for your warm embrace!! Clayton, Captain Kirk, Romaine, the Life Guards, everyone at Button Beach, all the fabulous waiters and waitresses who were so attentive, the grounds crew, our fantastic smiling softly singing cottage cleaner, turn down service...everyone, thank you for making our stay so fabulous!!! Extra love to Laurel Blair for her spirited fabulous welcome, for going out of her way for us...grabbing us beers on way to the resort, pulling over for Mikes bathroom breaks (ha! too many beers!!), for her stories and insights, and for her help with my attempts at Jamaican food! Ive made a new friend and I hope to see you again, sooner than later. One Love!

We NEEDED a vacation. With both my husband an I self-employed and numerous family hardships hitting us in the previous 8 months (not to mention no real vacation in a ridiculous 5 years) this was absolutely a need. Goldeneye delivered. The staff are the key really. Every single one - from groundskeepers to bar staff - were amazing. We were so thrilled with every interaction and really felt as though we made friendships we will pick up again when we return. Food and beverages were wonderful. After 9 nights you'd think we'd grow tired of the same menu yet we did not. We ate favourites more than once and ate new things happily. If there was any disappointment it was slight - the cancellation of sushi night was one - but honestly in the grand scheme of things it's a non-issue. The team that takes care of you at Goldeneye more than makes up for any minor imperfection. We are do grateful to gave found this beautiful getaway.

My wife and I went for my 50th Birthday. Me being a James Bond fan, GoldenEye was on my Bucket List! We rented a car out of MoBay airport and set out for the 2 hour drive, being from the US, the driving on the left in a right hand drive Toyota Corolla was a challenge at first, but 5 minutes into it, no problem Mon!!! Upon arrival at the property, which is well hidden and no sign out front, just a closed gate with guard with "Private" on it! We actually passed it, but once we knew the secret was safe with me! We were welcomed by Sherona, who personally escorted us to our Lagoon Cottage. Talk about Gilligan's Island?? Wow except every modern amenity available! TV, A/C, Wi-Fi, steps to the calm water of the lagoon, outdoor shower, fresh fruit, bottled water, bathroom/shower supplies, very clean, etc.... I can go on!! The restaurants were good and service was great, they even have their own "Captain" Kirk the evening bartender at the Bizot bar, we had many great drinks and good conversation with him. The highlight of the trip was the surprise birthday dinner at the Fleming Villa!! My wife and Sherona fooled me into thinking that the house was under construction, so I wouldn't be able to see it!! We were just to have dinner outside in the Sunken Garden overlooking the Caribbean, where Ian Fleming ate many times. Next thing I know is Sherona escorts us up to the house and we have it all to ourselves for the evening with Therese (Chris Blackwell's personal chef) and Nick the house caretaker, who doubled as our waiter!! A personal tour of the house, many pictures taken and a phenomenal dinner cooked just for us in the house's kitchen by Therese. All of a sudden we get a visit from Mr. Blackwell who sat, had a glass of wine with us and told us some stories about his life and how he acquired the property, also about Island Records and how he discovered Bob Marley, and he also produces Blackwell Rum (Good stuff!) After dinner Sherona (who stayed way past her go home time to make sure my experience was 500% perfect) and staff came out singing Happy Birthday with a cake. The rest of the days there were just perfect, there is absolutely nothing I can complain about, I would and will go back. Mind it, this isn't Sandals or an all inclusive. If you want peace and quiet this is the place, yes there are mosquitos, there is Off everywhere, a little inconvenience, but the benefit of this hidden gem far outweighs that!! One night while hanging out with the Captain, someone comes and tells us a Sea Turtle just came up the beach, we watched her dig her nest, lay her eggs, bury it back up, and then head back to the water, never to see her offspring!! A life experience!! All nests and marked and closely guarded. The next day we met Mel the Turtle Man, he took us to another nest that was ready to go, dug the hatchlings up and we got to release them into the sea!!! Another life experience. This trip and resort were by far the best I have ever had, and we've had some pretty lavish trips! There always was a smile on any staff members face when we came in contact with them, they are proud to work there! I also had a nice conversation with Ricardo (property manager) and Calvin the other concierge who goes out of his way to make sure your experience is great. But, if I had to single one out it was Sherona, I believe that she absolutely went over and above her call of duty to make sure I had a great time at GoldenEye!! Thank you again!! I can keep going on!! Please feel free to contact me with any specific questions!!

The genius of a great hotel is its ability to complement its environment, the culture, local food etc.. And this is what Goldeneye has done so brilliantly and soulfully. The Fleming / Blackwell backstory is so integral to its authenticity. They are two individuals that whole-heartedly wrapped their arms round what Jamaica is. And as a result, you have a very special establishment. The food is local and exceptional and great value for money. The staff are wonderful - so well managed and trained. Really friendly and very proud of their workplace. Management is immediately evident, professional, aware. They’re maintaining the place all the time - the gardens, the buildings, cleaning the beach. The rooms are fantastic - villas with indoor and outdoor bathrooms, and a view of the sea. Dark wood. Immaculately clean. White sheets. There is no a/c which we were perfectly happy with. They provide a mosquito net over the bed and there’s an enthusiastic fan on the ceiling. The laid back feeling which is so relaxing does not extend to the service or the standards... they’re rigorously maintained and if you want a hotel with real atmosphere that’s a million miles from the corporate chain bland offering... this is it. Exceptional.
