Booked and paid through expedia, made 9 calls to the host without a response while waiting outside the apartments..An hour later, the host called me to say the apartment was double booked...Taken me a few days for my money to be returned.
Expedia should ban such hosts that are fraudulent ...This is typical behaviour of hosts in Mombasa who are ruining the tourism industry in the area..
Our stay at the Swahili Beach Apartments was lovely. The staff were very kind and receptive to our requests, however, there are a few things that we’re missing in the unit.
1. Water was said to be provided, and on the first day it was, however on the second day we were told that water was only provided for the first day. After a bit of back-and-forth, the staff agreed to bring more water for that day as well. After that, we purchased our own water.
2. Air-conditioning was said to be within the apartment, and within the bedrooms it was. However, in the main living areas of the apartment, there was no air-conditioning, just a small fan. when we had brought this up to the reception and requested a secondary fan for proper airflow they agreed and brought one to us promptly.
3. Housekeeping was very good and came every day to make up our rooms. After our first evening in the unit, we left for the day and came back to a clean apartment with very few towels. Following this day every day that we returned, we returned to less towels. Although we had never asked for our towels to be taken after each use, we appreciate the sentiment, but it would be nice if they would be replaced and not just taken.
4. Toiletries were set to be provided, and though there was hand soap there was no body wash no shampoo and no conditioner. Instead, we were left with hand soap as a dual purpose cleaner for all of our cleaning needs. I agree that this is economically sound, but not very functional.
