Let's be honest, expectations should not be high when you accept that you will be staying in a Super 8 in the town of Mokena Illinois.
So, with that in mind, we understood it was a small bathroom. We understood it was an old structure, slow elevator, and we even accepted the pervasive smell of old smoke and staleness.
We did draw the line at the fitted sheet with laundered but still evident stain across it. We did draw the line at housekeeping that removed the cases from our pillows but failed to put new ones on them. We did draw the line at the free breakfast which was some packaged danish, a few boxes of cereal, and some tiny containers of peel back top orange juice. I realize there isn't going to be much effort for something they provided for free, but when the Denny's across the street seems "four star" by comparison, then Super 8, you are truly making the minimal effort.
For all this fun, super eight also puts a 150 dollar hold against your credit card (ostensibly to prevent even more damage from the people who stay here) so that's fun.
We will note that "Jenna" (the late night lady at the front desk), was a lifesaver by providing new fitted sheet and pillowcases both at midnight on successive nights when we discovered the need for such (upon returning to the room), so we have appreciation for her but otherwise (even for Super 8 rates), nope we ain't coming back to this place.
