It was lovely. Very close to everything. The staff was not always available. It was a pleasant stay.
I enjoyed how comfortable the room was and the small kitchen that was provided
Put us in a room that hasn't been remodeled and the bathroom floor was like walking up to Machu Picchu
Overcharged with zero notice anywhere, anytime. Noisy place. Convenient parking. Heater had no temperature setting. No food or stores nearby. 3 of the front desk personnel where rude city snobish. No elevator , all rooms require stair climbing.
We were very happy with the experience. The only complaint would be that the bathroom fan and the vents need do be cleaned.
I waited for over 30 minutes at the front desk and nobody ever showed up or answered the several times I called. I ended up having to leave and pay for another hotel room somewhere else!
Pros: comfortable, clean beds; useful kitchenette; good location near the UM campus, the stone bridge, a nice assortment of restaurants, and downtown; and, considering opening day weekend for the viqes and the first weekend after the beginning of classes, quiet. Cons: slightly ramshackle in places; smoke detector missing; poor cleaning behind the toilet seat; just one entry point off a busy one-way street.
The room was spacious and I was glad the window could be open fully. The bedding was clean but clearly over used and it would be better if the sheets are replaced more frequently.
It was our first, but definitely not last, time at University Inn. Such a gem not far from downtown Minneapolis and Target Field. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, just the ambience for a joyful trip to the Twin Cities. We'll be back.
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise, given its reasonable room rate. Our room was clean and comfortable, and included a kitchenette. There was good free coffee in the lobby, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was also very convenient to the university campus, St. Anthony Main, and downtown Minneapolis via the Old Stone walking bridge.
I arrived around 10:00 p.m. The exterior of the building and condition of the parking lot caused me pause. There were a couple men in the corner of the lot smoking what smelled like weed. Needless to say, that was a little disconcerting. Upon entering the lobby I found a pleasant desk clerk and clean, bright, environment. This is not an upscale hotel by any means. The kitchenette was a bit dated looking but the sleeping area was a bit more contemporary. For the price, this was an excellent value and should I be in the area again for business, I would return.
Friendly staff, no frills and very comfortable. Great location and free parking is a bonus
Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and updated rooms. The building looks like an older apartment building on the outside but the lobby and room was inviting and updated. Also very conveniently located in SE Mpls, right off 35W. The only gripe I have is that they charged $50 to check-in an hour and half early. Most places allow early check-in if their room is available. Besides that I would return again.
Clean room, friendly staff, very easy on-off access to 35, free parking, and an easy walk to Dinkytown and the U of M. No thrills. Lobby is very modest, rooms are very pedestrian, work out room is a few machines, no water no wipes. Overall, we've stayed a few times visiting our daughter who is a student at the U of M.and would stay again. We've found the hotel to be priced competitively and a fair deal.
This would be great as a place to stay for someone in their early twenties coming here to tailgate for a Minnesota football game. The rooms are clean and comfortable and updated. I had a suspicion that these rooms were converted dorm rooms...I was proven right when I was told students were living there.
Great location. Right off the interstate and easy access to downtown.
Clean, simple room with kitchenette. Free coffee and nice staff
Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Location works very well for getting around twin cities. Affordable! We were grateful that the predicted storm and 12 inches of snow passed us by.
Only flucky thing was false fire-alarm at 0500 am, but hey, alarm worked and got to meet a lot of nice folks in pajamas. They sorted it out - don't gather it will be a recurring issue. /kww
We would certainly return when visiting our daughter at University of Minnesota. Great front desk staff. They were all very helpful and friendly. Rooms are a bit dated, but clean and comfortable.
