Right around the corner from the Dom. Close to public transportation, shopping and restaurants. Friendly personnel. The power went down several times one night. Small but clean. Limited selection for breakfast.

The room was tiny. Since I was by myself, you would not think this was a big deal. But it was just big enough for a single bed and my suitcase. The lady at the check in was rude. She did not want to give me my passport back right away. I learned traveling in the old Soviet Union to never let go of your passport. But the young man who relieved her at about 4 pm was pleasant and helpful. One can hear every wake up call on the floor and everything that goes on in the hall. The breakfast was pretty dismal (especially compared to the Hotel Kraft in Florence and the Venice Resort hotel). The location is pretty good. The rooms are advertised as recently renovated. But the walls were dingy. The TV did not work. Neither did the AC. There is a window, but it looks out on a closed cement courtyard. It was easy to trip or stumble on the floor of the bathroom since there were three different changes in the floor level. I would not stay at this hotel again.

AMAZING LOCATION! - approx 50m from the Duomo. Tons of great restaurants around. Nearby grocery. Great shopping everywhere. 20m from the metro line. Friendly staff (they even helped me track down the cell phone I left in a taxi). Air conditioning - hooray! Rooms are a bit small, but still comfortable. Not super clean/fancy (it's an old building), but perfectly fine. Great value - I'd stay here again if I return to Milan.

I only stayed one overnight, and was not in the room but to sleep, so the small room was not a problem for me. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. I felt very safe and I was around the corner from the piazza Duomo. Couldn't beat it for the price!

This hotel is small and efficient, nothing fancy. But it is in a super location right next to the Duomo and big shopping area. I walked to the Breva museum and La Scala. Hotel Rio is at the center of Milan (the Duomo is the center). Fairly clean and adequate.

Hotel was a block from the Duomo, metro and buses/trams. Also there was a McDonalds within a block in as you want a milkshake.Small, clean, reasonable price. Not fancy-but adequate.

This hotel is 1/2 block from the Duomo and very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Also very convenient to the Metro (1/2 block) and 4 stops from the train station. Breakfast was not great (but still better than continental breakfasts at most American hotels) and no mini bar. HUGE bathroom with bathtub but tiny room with twin beds pushed together. Overall, great place to "just sleep" but no frills. We'd stay here again - good deal for the location.

Staff was kind and helpful.....room faced street with trams going both directions and steady traffic ....never had a good sleep.....breakfast...coffee made to order and a roll....everything else is a package....super location..next to duomo...and price was what i could pay ....proper cleaning daily....tiny minifridge never made ice...and the tv had enough snow for the next winter olympics.....the claimed 3 stars are in a far, far galaxy

This location couldn't be more convenient to the historical attractions, shops, restaurants, and Metro. The hotel is functional but not fancy and was fine for budget travelers like us. When we checked in, the desk clerk told us she couldn't give us a double room the first night as we had reserved, something about a grandmother and son who couldn't check out because the grandmother was sick. Sounded fishy to us. They wanted to give us two singles or move us to another hotel. We stood our ground and got the room reserved. Not sure if it was a scam of some sort, but heads up. The rooms were very spartan and a little beat up. The bedroom was typical European - small, but the bathroom was huge and the shower was wonderful. Our doubles room was on the front of the building, streetside, with a small balcony. With lots of street activity and a tram running below the window, it could get noisy with the windows open, but the room was soundproof w/ them closed. We enjoyed the balcony, often retreating for a quick snack from the nearby grocery store/deli and watching the street scene. The room was very clean, the beds firm but comfortable, the towels big and fluffy by budget hotel standards. Air conditioning worked great. There was a handy small refrigerator in the closet. The room was quite clean. Overall, it was a good choice in an expensive city.

very friendly staff, very nice hotel. I recommend it.

I visited most monuments and went to lake Como

The location is amazing, the rooms are small but clean. The bed of my room was only a few feet above to top of the tram that stopped outside my window! Bring earplugs! The breakfast is very meager. It is right around the corner from the Duomo though.

The hotel is half a block off the Duomo square. When you get off the subway and are looking at the front of the duomo the street of the hotel is at the lower right corner of the square in front of the Duomo The breakfast is very basic croisant juice and coffee. The elevator is slow but there is one. I stayed on the fifth floor. I ran down the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator, but waited for it to go up the stairs. Sunday morning I had no hot water for my shower but there was hot water on Monday.

Hotel Rio in Milan is an excellent hotel for a budget traveler. This hotel probably has the best location in the entire city. We were just steps away from the main square. The hotel has very nice staff as well. However, if you are looking for comfort and a fancy hotel to stay in while in Milan this is definetly not the hotel for you!
