This is a gem of a boutique hotel. The staff is wonderful, so friendly and attentive and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The hotel has free parking which is almost unheard of in downtown Miami. Unfortunately, while in walking distance of the waterfront area, it’s not the best part of town. I would not necessarily feel safe walking around alone. My daughter and I stayed in the Madam CJ Walker room which was just so charming. The beds had pristine white linens and were super comfortable. We walked to the Ice Cream Museum (a highlight of our Miami experience.) For the price (I paid $170 per night during spring break) it was perfect for our Miami trip.

I have nothing but good things to say about my stay at Dunn Josephine. The entire staff provided a warm welcome upon my arrival. Storing my bags before check-in and after check-out was not an issue. My room was beyond comfortable and very clean. The bed was hard to get out of. lol. It goes without saying I will definitely be coming back. I have found my new go to hotel in Miami. Did I mention the historical impact of the hotel? Go see for yourself. 10/10

Is this a 4 star hotel? No but nicely remodeled clean rooms. No issues with the room or service. Everyone was friendly and offered great advice. Location feels a step below but very close to downtown Miami. Some homeless but so does every big city. Plenty of police presence. There were people jogging and walking dogs alone. As a woman I wouldn't walk alone at night but felt just fine with my husband. During the day it was fine felt safe. 20-30 minute walk to water. 15 minutes to food and the metro station. Good place for a decent price. If you have issues with stairs this is an old building no elevator ask for a main floor room

The room was clean and ready on time, the neighborhood is clearly not a safe one you can tell as soon as you are approaching the hotel, the problem with me was that the receptionist at night big man, despite having the list of rooms that were occupied in front of him, though it was a great idea to go open my room at midnight, as a guest in a neighborhood that clearly doesn’t look safe, that can be enough to take away your peace of mind not allowing me to have a rest. Because I couldn’t not sleep after that thinking it was some other situation. As a solo female traveler I wouldn’t go back to that hotel.

We stayed at Dunns-Josephine Hotel for one night prior to our cruise, and it turned out to be a great choice. The hotel is conveniently located, only about 10 minutes from the Port of Miami, which made embarkation day stress-free. There is a continental breakfast available, along with snacks and beverages, which was perfect for us since we were heading out early for our cruise and weren’t expecting a large breakfast. I was a little nervous going in due to some of the reviews, but overall my experience was awesome and I felt safe on arrival at 2 a.m. Zo was pleasant, professional, and very friendly, which really set the tone for our stay. I would definitely stay here again before a cruise.
