The area was in a bad part of town.

Bathroom was moldy, bathroom door hinges are rusty, door was coming apart. Holes in the wall by the sink where someone pulled a shelf out of the wall and left it on the floor.

Convenient yes, but I had strangers pounding on my door, couldn’t get to Walgreens or the Burger King without being stopped and asked for money. The room wasn’t clean and customer service was horrible.

Got a room with a dirty bathroom. Asked to have someone come and clean it and was told they had no one available - did I want to switch rooms. Finally was able to switch rooms.

I rarely leave reviews but felt obligated to convey what experience. My wife and I checked in. No real issues. The attendant seemed a bit apathetic, but such is life. We then proceed to the room, which smelled like death upon entering. I needed to use the toile, so I proceeded to the bathroom, which I learned was the source of the stench. The bathroom was utterly disgusting. Just horrible, I cannot describe the toilet and its contents. We went back to the office and received a new room. We then dropped off our bags (after a quick bathroom check) and headed to Beale Street, haunted by that first bathroom. Of course, when we returned, we observed there were toenail clippings all over the floor. Plus hair, lots of hair. Fortunately, the bed was fine, so we slept, agreeing we would never discuss these events again. Note: You may ask why we decided to get a second room, which is fair. The friends we were traveling with were on a budget, so we let them pick the hotel rooms on the trip. Fortunately, their room was okay, albeit somewhat dirty. Their issue was some late night partying in the rooms next to them, which caused them not to sleep well. Unfortunately (maybe fortunately), the promised coffee in the office was non-existent, so they didn't get to have that luxury. In the end, I would not recommend this hotel. Further, I am never staying in a Motel 6, nor will I make the mistake of letting friends decide on the hotel without some kind of vetting by me.

Horrible place! Dirty rooms, holes on bed sheets from cigarettes, no shampoo, no microwaves, smells smoky and filthy! Lots of strange and homeless people around. Unsafe! Lobby is only through the teller window

If you've never been to Memphis and don't really know the area and you're on a budget, it can be tempting to choose this hotel because it is centrally located and Motel 6 is a trusted brand. However, in this case it may be best to spend the extra money and go elsewhere. Yes, it's easy to get to and the room comes at a good price but there the positives end. The whole rear side of the hotel seems to be populated by long term residents of various kinds but mostly the scary, seemingly drug-addled and desperate kind. My stay was only for one night, and when I got there after a long day at the zoo, I was so exhausted I slept through the noise and loud music that others have reported. The flat screen TV featured a decent cable package and a "Back to the Future" marathon on the Paramount channel made for a lullaby apparently. Unfortunately, the room comes with bed bugs. I found three, squeezed them and it made blood spots on the sheets. Chances are low I brought them back with me to southern Illinois, but all the same I washed all the clothes I brought there in hot water and dried them on high heat and discarded the back pack i brought my things in. The short of it is, if you want a truly horrifying hotel experience, choose Motel 6, midtown Memphis.

Terrible all over. Drug-infested, no mucriwaves, no fridges, rude guests, cesspool of a town. Only redeeming quality is friendly room cleaning ladies

Can provide video to support this review: The outside of the hotel is dirty with some litter in places, but mostly the concrete and metal surfaces of the stairs and walkways just need to be cleaned. The elevator door malfunctions, immediately closing on guests. The walkway balcony has a wooden railing top surface that is broken/breaking/buckling/unsightly in several spots. Lots of caution tape used instead of proper landscaping. Armed rent-a-cops seemed unprofessional. When I got in the room, the smoke detector appeared to be in good order, but a previous guest had deliberately blocked the fire alarm with toilet paper mache. While this would not silence the fire alarm, it would make it less loud. Broken tub drain, broken & dirty toilet seat, cracked bathroom door A/C filter was very dirty needed cleaning. Same w/shower fan vent cover. Exposed wiring under sink could kill a toddler. vinyl baseboard molding kicked in at the base - unsightly Broken plastic towel hanger found under one bed, covered in dust All around edges of walls it was dusty and dirty - needed cleaning. human hairs and dust found inside towel rack and at back of bathtub where the shower spray won't reach. no soap or shampoo provided in shower. ugly condensation spots dripping/running down the wall. Walls were dirty with dirty hand prints inside bathroom and hotel room. large (6 inch diameter) piece of sheetrock surface torn off above one of the beds. cigarette burns in sheets

i loved the fact it was 6 mins from Beale street... I hate the fact that after 6pm even if u call they put u no show and take a day from u I had to pay for another another after I paid orbitz for 2 it’s awful

There was a regular tub and shower in the bathroom.

rooms were not ready until about 5. the rooms were recently re-done. there was no fridge, m'wave, coffee, or shampoo

Friendly staff, comfortable room. Location isn't walking distance to the city center.

I didnt like anything about my stay other than I survived it. Very unprofessional. The rrom was dirty. No blanket on my bed. Cigarette burns. I was told i couldnt switch rooms . Front desk is just there to take your $ after telling her i didn't have a blanket she told me she had to call the owner in order to give me a blanket. I was also told i couldnt get a refund. after yelling at her son to go sit down . The elevator should be deemed out of order. The urine smell was breathtaking. People were sitting on the stairs asking for money.. Drug activity on the grounds I was done. I spoke with who i was told was the owner he told me he would give me a discount that no one knew about when itt was time for me to check out.. i insisted on front desk to call the owner. I couldnt believe my stay. I felt like i was being punked or in the twilight zone!!!!!!

Everything is what I expected. The pics of hotel was true
