This was my first place of stay when arriving in Australia. My first hostel stay, I didn’t quite know what to expect when I was arriving but it surpassed all my expectations and was truly fantastic. I stayed in a room on my own and it so very spacious, exceptionally clean, the en-suite bathroom was pristine too with a nice shower in! I had an issue with my kettle not working I told reception and they advised me they would let housekeeping know as they dealt with that. As jetlag kicked in 3am came and I was hungry as I had no kettle I went down to use the communal kitchen, as it was 3am it was being cleaned but after explaining to the guy at reception he allowed me to go in and get some boiling water. My kettle was replaced the next day no hassle. The location is fantastic only 20 minutes on the tram to Melbourne City and the tram stop is right outside the hostel. Close to shops and good food places and most importantly a short distance from the beaches! I was too jet lagged to experience the social element of this hostel but what I saw it was welcoming. I had no problem with noise only the freeway with trucks and trams. This was a truly great stay thank you.

Really worth the other words needed to describe far the best value for money accomodation u can get just 20 mins off Melbourne.they even have a shared kitchen where u can cook and have food with others. Plus it's near to a beautiful beach.

Though it's a kind of budget hostel but I guess it's far better than many I have stayed in. Excellent location...just 15 minutes walk to famous St.Kilda beach...Luna Park..public transport, supermarkets, shops, cafe's, everything is within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance. The place is very tidy, clean linen, clean washrooms/ foul/damp carpet smell..real value for money..Very vibrant place..everyday there's something special scheduled in the evening..Already extended my stay for couple of nights..Cheers

The staff here are highly capable, the rooms are beautifully clean and well equipped and even as an older couple we had a genuine and warm welcome. We had 24 hour onsite parking for a very small fee and the facilities are great. This is a really well-managed, good value for money place to stay in a good location close to city. We have already returned and will do so again.

I stayed with my teenage daughter for her to compete in a State swim carnival. On arrival I thought we might have made a mistake and there would be a lot of noise at night. I was so wrong! We didn't hear a peep. The room was nicely appointed with a 'new' feel. The shower was fabulous! The bed was very comfortable. The shared kitchen is very well appointed. Whilst it was busy with young people from all over the world, they were a lot of fun. Carparking behind the secure gate was very inexpensive and I was very much surprised how much we enjoyed out stay. We often travel to Melb for swim competitions and will stay with Habitat HQ from now on. We've even passed on this little gem to swim friends!

I arrived at Habitat as a solo traveler and felt so welcomed from the moment I arrived - I ended up staying for two months. Tian behind reception was the first to greet me, he’s amazing and I got me signed up for the bar hop straight away. I really like that you can work for accommodation, the outside area is also a huge highlight. I look forward to returning in the Summer.

Can't recommend this hostel highly enough! Perfect for someone travelling solo! Tiann and all the staff make you feel welcomed as part of the habitat family and are always at hand if you ever have any problems or if you're in need of a chat! Fantastic place for meeting new people and has a great balance for those wishing to stay and work as well as enjoy the occasional night out! Keep up the good work guys! Eoin

Habitat is the friendliest hostel going, everyone is so welcoming, especially the staff!! I stayed in total for around 7 months and was so sad to leave. I would recommend Habitat to anyone, especially solo travellers! Have funnn.

One of the only hostels I have returned to more than a few times! The atmosphere is always friendly and sociable. You are made to feel so welcome from the start, special mention to Tiaan at the front desk. I’m sure I will visit again 😊

Overall a nice hostel, power outlets next to each bed, Lockers in Room, helpful staff and good location next to St. Kilda Pier and the tram stop. No refrigerator space in the kitchen. Overall would stay again
