Staff really friendly, rooms spacious and clean. Shower hot and lots pressure. Lovely smelling soaps 😊 Location only drawback but still close to free circle line tram and Bourke St Mall. A very pleasant experience!
Central location , but tired rooms. Decent breakfast, helpful staff. Ideal for trams and city centre. Noisy at west facing side in early hours. Would return fro the location mainly. Many bars and restaurants nearby to eat at.
We stayed in two bedroom apartment. Bedrooms big and plenty of room. Bathrooms need a bit of updating. Fantastic location. Only negative is on such a hot day I think the air conditioner should have been on so you walked into a nice cool room. It took a few hours for the upstairs bedrooms to be at a comfortable temperature. We also had problems with our TV which staff tried to fix but couldn't. We were offered an another room but same issue with cooling. It would have taken hours to cool down.
The Crossley Hotel is in a good location for shopping in Melbourne, access to China town and a short stroll to City Circle tram. We found it to be very clean, the breakfast was great and we slept well.
Just had another great stay at this hotel. I arrived early on Thursday morning and when I checked-in received a complimentary room up-grade which was gratefully accepted following a 0300 start and a flight from hell. I just have one small issue. On my return to the room on Thursday after a day "out and about" in Melbourne I discovered there was no soap in the bathroom. There were little containers of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and bath/shower gel, but no little cakes of soap that guests get in hotel bathrooms. Simply thinking it to be an oversight I was happy to "make do" with the bath/shower gel for one night however when I returned to my room the next day once again I discovered it to be "soap-free". On this occasion I located the Housekeeping Supervisor who was doing his rounds and asked if a) the hotel provided soap and b) if I may please have some! The chap was rather surprised that no soap had been left in my room on two occasions and happily provided me with some from the Housekeeping Cart that was still in the hotel corridor. The towel-rail in the bathroom is only about a foot long and it is therefore almost impossible to place your large bath towel, hand-towel, bath-mat and (if using) face-washer on it if you want to re-use the towels the following day. I was travelling solo and found the towel-rail unfit for this purpose. Couples wanting to hang towels for re-use would find it impossible to do so. The hotel is accessible only by a flight of steep-ish stairs, thus rendering it unsuitable for wheelchair users or others with mobility issues. Staff are happy to provide assistance with luggage if required (and if they see you) , however installation of a lift from street-level to the top of the stairs would be helpful (however may not be possible due to structural/engineering constraints). The hotel does not have its own carpark so it is impossible to access the hotel via a lift. Would stay again (this time I would bring my own soap - just in case!)
My wife and i recently stayed at the crossley again and why do you ask, because we love the location, all of the staff are excellent and we got a good deal considering it was peak season, the breakfast is excellent, and the staff are very knowledgeable, they organised the bus to take us to chadstone shopping centre which was a big help thank you for your efforts, the room was spotless and nice and quiet we had a corporate room which was very compfy, thank you we loved it highly recommend this place airport shuttle drop off and pick up is a breeze to all the staff keep up the great work thank you
Excellent Location in the heart of Melbourne. Close to everything. Clean room, comfortable bed, good desk. Good bathroom. Staff is friendly and helpful. The parking is a bit overpriced but at least you have parking.
We checked in, got our keys and went up to our room. Key wouldn't work and so I went back to reception who checked that it was indeed the correct key. The receptionist then came up with me as if doubting my ability to use a key. As before it didn't work and she produced the pass key. This too did not work and so clearly the lock was broken. This turned out to be very advantageous because it resulted in an upgrade to one of the corner rooms which was very large and spacious as per the pictures you see advertising the hotel. My daughters were in a standard room which looked rather tired by comparison. Great location, close to everything with a theatre at one end of the street and Chinatown at the other. The free tram stops close by. Breakfast was buffet style, cold apart from toast, although keep your eyes open for the croissants which have bacon and cheese fillings. They come at random intervals and go quickly. I never managed to catch one. The reception desk was very helpful and gave me some money saving tips on getting ourselves around. There is no bar but downstairs is a bodega which stays openlate.
Our trip to the Deep South Capital of Melbourne was a on the spot decision to get away from it all over Christmas. That decision was well founded indeed.Great move. The Crossley Hotel isn't a 5 star hotel but its an Hotel worth of many stars. Rooms were spotless the bed was great (Huge) the pillows were terrible (You know what I mean) but the hot water was endless and it was very quiet. What more can you ask for when you also have really great staff down below They were so friendly Breakfast was also continental but slightly over priced. The lifts actually worked al the time. A/C is good too. Locally the restrauants were fantastic The Shark Fin Chinese across the road was to die for ,and the Mrs Palmers up the road in Lt Bourke St was the same . Cannot fault the food both were great and my wife and I had the most enjoyable time at Mrs Palmers with the British Tourists. Balmy Army Fun Fun Fun The walk home was down hill Thank goodness!! The Trams local trains were terrific and once you mastered the Myki travel card you were home and hosed The Puffing Billy was exceptional Jump on the 8:05 to meet up with the puffing billy and its so cheap compared with the tourists bus thing. Ballarat, Sovereign Hill' was the same fantastic hop in a train from Spencer St. then the local bus the your at the front gate The rest of the day is yours Fast train too. Save $$$ The trams to any where in Melbourne were great Simply swipe on swipe off .The Markets were also a fantastic day but get there early. OK Jump on a Jet Plane and enjoy
