A delightful mountaintop retreat! Hospitality with a Capitol H - we will be back!

This hotel is not great at ALL. We went to check in and this place is like a barn. This is no lodge. Did not get a key to the building so we were locked out until we walked around the building to find the owners room to knock on. We got in finally and went up to our room which was supposed to be the Wedding Suite. The door literally said "Woman's Dorm." There was NO AC at all. The AC Unit only blew hot air. Got myself locked in the bathroom because the doorknob fell off. When you take a shower, it feels like you are about to fall through the floor. I would not recommend this lodge to anyone.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that the lodge did not meet your expectations and hope that the rest of your journey goes well. We would appreciated another chance if/when you are back on Mt. Spokane.

This review is almost comical. When the guests arranged for a late check-in, they were told that the main entrance would be locked at 10 PM and to please enter through the door on the uphill side of the lodge. Upon arrival, the guests only tried to enter through the front door. A staff member heard the group milling around outside and shaking the front door. He let them in immediately. For the record, there is no “owner’s room” to knock on unless you are already inside the building and two stories up. Staff could not figure out why the reviewer might have made this comment. The sign on the door to the top floor suite does say “Women’s Dorm”. The stenciled name has been left there as a tribute to a bygone era when the lodge operated in a different room configuration. The AC unit was in its proper place, vented, and “on” prior to the guest’s arrival. It is a large portable unit (10,000+ BTU’s) that must exhaust hot air through a window. The guests moved the air conditioner (away from the window) to the main portion of the suite where the AC unit could no longer vent hot air to the outside. It simply could not cool properly after being moved. Staff would have quickly re-positioned the AC unit if we had been notified about the “hot air” issue. The door knob is from about 1950. It dates to the original hardware used in the lodge and must have been “tired”. It has been reinstalled and is working properly once again. Showers from that same era have flexible pans to keep them from cracking. There is nothing wrong with the shower and it has never leaked in the 15+ years that we have operated the lodge. Thank you for allowing us to address your areas of concern. We hope that none were major inconveniences during your stay at Bear Creek Lodge.
