Surprised my the negative reviews. Good staff, rooms and breakfast. Do think serving lunch and dinner at the weekend would be a good idea though. Location is great for quick access on foot or tram to the heart of the city. Definitely would return.

I booked this hotel as the pictures looked nice but from start to finish it was awful. The GPS did not recognise the address so it took 2hrs to find from the airport. After finding the hotel you enter a parking lot and park to find there is only one elevator that gets you out to the correct floor of the hotel. When you arrive in the hotel you’re told that the hotel only serves breakfast which was not good when arriving late afternoon and odd for a so called 4 star hotel. You’re then giving a free drinks voucher to which I was told it was for a cocktail. To much of my surprise when going to the bar you’re met with a barman who is rude and reading whilst a customer is there and then get told it is for an Ice Tea. After explains that I don’t like Ice Tea and could I have an orange juice instead, he replies no and carries on with what he was doing. Very rude! I would never ever stay in this hotel again if I was to visit Marseille again. Please avoid.

First impressions of the Golden Tulip were great. A really modern hotel in a good location (especially for wife's, with two shopping malls across the way !) Both trams and bus's were a few steps away The young ladies in reception were wonderful, so helpful and friendly .Rooms were spacious and ours had a nice sea view. The beds were the most comfortable I have slept in. Unfortunately on the six days we stayed the restaurant was closed for FIVE ! On two afternoons there was such a noise from drilling workmen we could not use our room and had to go to the lobby ( to be fair drinks were provided there ). Enough coffee and tea were left for at least 4 cups but only two tiny milk containers-which were not enough for one cup. When we asked for more milk we were charged 3 euro' The swimming pool had no changing room ,leading to pools of water in the lift . There was a smart bar ,but it was never open ! Towels were supposed to be provided but were only present on one day. The maximum of one metre depth is just not enough to swim properly. Room lights went out at around 9pm on our last night for about 1 hour The one night we were able to eat at the restaurant, although the wine list only had around 6 choices per type ( red /white etc) the Chablis we choose was sold out! Lastly -don't bother with the "welcome cocktail" it was basically orange juice. Such a shame as despite all of this we still enjoyed Marseilles

OK hotel, but not a good value for the money. Parking is not that close to the hotel and very annoying to get to with luggage. It’s very difficult to get to the front of the hotel where you can drop luggage off (driving around the “block” takes almost ten minutes). The AC in the room is very poor and it was very warm. Our sink was broken on arrival and someone had to come up to fix it (which they did quickly however). The pool is also very poor; it is only 1 meter deep so you can’t even swim in it without hitting your knees along the ground. I wouldn’t stay here again for the price I paid.

Located in the newly developed Marseilles. Quiet and peaceful with shops nearby. Polite staff. Good breakfast Shower flooded every time. Air conditioning difficult to control Room windows do not open.

I was there for 4 days attending a meeting at the university. The hotel is a typical new 4* business. Nothing atmospheric but all works well, a bit to much pseudo-boutique style for my taste. I guess one should insist on a sea-side vew (I understand, if it is available, one gets it), otherwise the view is dreadful. Good breakfast. Things I did not like: Very few hangers in closet. Indoor pool is nice but far too shallow (1/2m). Strange to understand. When I was asked upon check-out if all was ok, I mentioned that and was told: 'Yes but you must understand that we French are smaller that the Germand'. They are not that small :) Personell sometimes fast-fast (that is the style here). Things I liked: Actually all else. Everbody was friendly. Room not very big but ok. All very clean. Pricewise it is completely in the average, about EUR 120 for a room. Good public traffic connections and good nearby shopping.

It overlooks the docks where the cruise vessels berth. So great view throughout the day. The staff is friendly and helpful. Though English is not a preferred language of communication, yet the staff tries their best to assist you with any issues you might have. Breakfast buffet was good, however it would be much appreciated to have variety of cuisines depending on guests at Hotel. Finding Iron-board in the hotel was a dreadful task as we had to wait for 3 days before we could lay hands on one. Once i saw a band performing in the lobby. The music was good. However i couldnt enjoy it to full as had to leave for meetings etc.

Good simple hotel for one night in Marseille on business. Simple room but all you need. Very good breakfast with a lot of choices coffee could be better and warm.. The coffee machine is not making really hot coffee. Service is great.. 20-30 min walk to the old Port of Marseille which is very nice. Recommended

I have visited Marseille on a business trip and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The hotel is clean but unfortunatelly I have requested several times in different days an iron for my shirts and suits but even if promised it was never delivered to my room. Of course I had to buy an iron in order to prepare my cloths before the meetings, which is not very practical...Next time for shure I will accomodate into another hotel in Marseille rather then experience second time this problem. It is a pity that the hotel is good looking and well maintained but the services are still so low..

I stayed in this hotel as part of a travel arrangement for the run Marseille-Cassis. Very nice new hotel near the renovated Docks and the new Terrasses du Port, two large luxury shopping centers with good restaurants as well. Only 15 minutes walk to the beautiful Vieux Port, and good public transport around the corner. Nice rooms and facilities, modern styling, good breakfast buffet and very friendly staff made for a great experience at a good price. I will be back!
