Staff - The staff was very helpful. There was a girl called Yasmina at the front desk who helped me out with all my queries. She even got me a portable charger to charge my phone Location - less than 5 minutes walking from the old port, where all the bars and restaurants were. The hotel was clean, cozy and quiet even though its situates on a street with small restaurants. There is a nice shawarma / donner kebab place just below the hotel The hotel is about a 25 minutes walk from the railway station. I walked with my backpack
We had a double room for 3 nights. Comfortable supportive mattresses, great linens. New bathroom, lots of hot water and nice double shower heads with strong water pressure. Very clean. Quiet. Cool comfortable air conditioning (we were there in July), great for restful sleeping. Great TV. The breakfast buffet was included, what a delightful difference from American hotel style included breakfasts: very good expresso, coffee and tea available all day along with croissants and chocolate croissants; orange, apple and grapefruit juices, fresh fruit, French style yogurt with all the trimmings - almonds, hazelnuts, raisins, brown sugar, honey, almond syrup, fruit syrups, etc.; toast, croissants, chocolate croissants, pastries, fruit jams (jars of real fruit jams, not the plastic packets!)meats and cheeses, several types of breads. Lots of restaurants (including seafood and ethnic) and shops within walking distance on the scenic Port. Get a city card and take a boat ride to the two islands in the harbor, see the sunset and ride back. Ride the train, trolly and electric trams everywhere, see the awesome museums highlighting the city's ancient history as a seaport during the Roman Empire. Many wonderful Roman artifacts, medieval forts and neighborhoods, and historical churches to see also. Take a boat tour to the Calanque islands national park and see the turquoise Mediterranean water. Underwater shipwrecks and WWII planes for those who enjoy diving and snorkeling. Really a great city to relax in and enjoy the fresh seafood and Mediterranean sunshine ...
Our stay was for two nights. We arrived in Marseille and had to drive around the block a couple time cause it is definitely not easy to see, a small door with a Silver sign that bounces off light and becomes unreadable. Look for the number 16 instead as it is the only way to recognize it. Checking in was fast and easy, but then the parking: you have to park at what seems to be an abandoned shopping center across the street, the parking has only two elevators (escalators don't work), so be mindful to park on the red color side of the parking lot and as closest to the end if you're carrying bags, we came out the opposite side after walking around in circles for a long time trying to get out of the parking lot, to fin we had to drag our bags all around the block in the scorching sun of July. To top it all, hotel only gives you 20% discount on parking, so be prepared to pay quite a bit. The hotel room is spacious and clean (we booked a triple) bathroom is huge, which is great. No towels or toilet paper upon arrival. For the rest, the room was great. A bit of a dodgy area immediately outside the hotel but it's only a couple block away from where everything's happening.
For the price paid, we had modest expectations of this hotel and as it turned out, that was a realistic approach to take. On the plus side: located a short walk from Vieux Port and the Canebiere; good public transport links; clean, reasonably comfortable, modern, quiet room with efficient air con; helpful friendly staff; OK breakfast. Less good things: no toilet roll in the room on arrival; main entrance security door did not work; hot drinks machine in the breakfast room did not work, wifi signal strength variable; too few staff. The area immediately around the hotel is a bit shabby and there are no traditional bars selling alcohol, but there are plenty of friendly kebab restaurants/cafes where tasty cheap eats can be had anytime of day. Next time we go to Marseille we probably will spend a bit more on accommodation and go elsewhere, but if I had to go back to this hotel, I would be quite content provided the same or better value for money could be had.
Booked in here for the weekend. It was fairly priced and the location was very central. Close to the old port and within walking distance to the Les Dock Village and shopping mall along the port. The only downfall of having a central location was that at night you can hear everything going on in the streets, even with the window closed. The room was basic and didn't have any character to it. It initially stank of smoke, even the sheets. Assumed maybe the housekeeper smoked in rooms? We aired out the room by leaving the window open all day and night. Reception ladies were nice and greeting you each time however the reception area didn't seem too inviting. Small area and not very well lit. Our stay was pleasant enough as we only wanted basic which is what we got.
I had booked an accessible room as I am a wheelchair user, although I am able to walk a little. The bathroom was excellent - good height toilet for me -although maybe a little high for wheelchair transfer -and excellent walk -in shower,it has a slightly sunken tray so is not quite level access. The staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was very nice and worth the money. The only downside was the somewhat temperamental lift and the lack of an armchair in the bedroom. Would definitely stay here again.
The location of the hotel is very good: close to the vieux port and very close to the bus station. Nice staff, good quality of the breakfast, comfortable bed. The room requires more maintenance: the chair back was broken, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken; after the shower the bathroom floor is completely wet.
The hotel is ideally situated in the inner center of Marseille. Airconditionning was not working in my room on the third floor. A positive thing: the hotel offers a " happy hour" for free. You can then taste local snacks and drinks. Overall, the price was acceptable.
This hotel has all the standard best western amenities that you expect But there is a lot of noise from outside, which makes it hard to sleep at night It's located on a very busy and loud street with lots of traffic I was wearing earplugs and still found it hard to sleep with all the noise I wouldn't recommend it or come back here
Moved on to this Hotel to be nearer the Port\action. The staff were very good and so too the location. My room looked smaller than 15sq that I had booked. But, I was only there for a night. The problems emerged i the morning. Breakfast was "ok" with a good coffee machine, mobile charging unit. I was going to shave and turned the mirror over, to find out that it was broken. The Air Con stopped working. I informed the staff and they came straight away to fix. I saw flies in my room, but thought nothing of it. But, during the day I realized that I had been bitten by them a lot. It was rather painful for a good couple of days. They have a good storage for luggage.
