Another Great Stay in Marseille

This was my second time staying at this property. Victor is the best VRBO host. The apartment is spacious with a large private courtyard. The location cannot be beat. I look forward to staying here again.

Relive the magic of Marseille in this historic town! This lovely flat sits in the heart of the city’s historic sites with excellent food options and public transit just steps away. The port sits beautifully with its many sailing masts dotting the horizon. Victor adds a personal touch and is excellent at communicating.

Ideal location

We just loved the view from the balcony and the apartment was in a perfect location for exploring Marseilles and the surrounding area. We spent most of our time on the back terrace. The washing machine was a good bonus. It was nice to have a personal welcome from victor and get his advice.

Met by agent on arrival who gave us the lowdown on the accommodation and local amenities. Excellent location in the heart of the city a few yards from the old port. accommodation perfect for our needs, well stocked kitchen (utensils) which lead to a outside living area, protected from the frequent winds and sun, ideal social area. comfortable bed and lounge area. Marseille vibrant bustling. easy access to bus, metro and ferry services. Would not think twice of booking again.

Marseille - Vieux Port - 5 Day trip

Hosts Victor & Helene were great. We had a 5 day visit for a Bruce Springsteen concert (unfortunately cancelled due to Bruce being ill). This accommodation was perfect for us, very close to everything including metro, buses, shops and numerous restaurants. Outdoor terrace space was definitely a bonus and was used for breakfast and some sitting in the sun during the early afternoon(maybe a few glasses of alcoholic refreshments too). We were a little worried about the apartment being 'pet friendly' but you would never know as the place was very clean and no sign of pets at all. Secure entry to the building and the lift to the apartment was very easy to navigate. All in all, a fantastic stay and if the concert is rescheduled with a date that suits us then I'll be trying to book this same accommodation. Thanks again Victor/Helene

Awesome location, comfortable and clean, fantastic owner

The apartment is steps from the end of Vieux Port--the harbor can be seen from the sitting room and bedroom windows, while the terrace is on the city side. There are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance, as well as little food stores, Saturday markets, wine and gourmet shops. The owner, Victor, met us at the apartment, gave us tons of useful information about the area, and even helped us find the car park nearby. Can't say enough about his hospitality and help! It's wonderful to have the assistance of an English-speaking local when you're in a strange place for the first time. Highly recommended and we can't wait to return.

Decent place and near the heart of the old port area

The building is old and the place feels a little old. It has new paint, but is was just slapped on over lots of other paint jobs over knobs and screws and... it's just messy. The place just needs a lot of TLC still. The bed is comfortable, so that helps. The building as a whole is old as well and some of the lights don't work. the elevator is really small, so don't expect to fit much in there. Overall it's a reasonable place in a nice part of town to explore Marseille.

Comfortable and convenient - Highly recommended

Roland's apartment was just perfect for our trip to Marseille. Easy to access using public transport from the airport, and Roland was there to meet us as arranged and was even able to provide early access as the apartment was ready and vacant. It is very close to the Vieux Port which was lovely, and the view from the small balcony at the front was glorious. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the boats in the port. The terrace at the rear was certainly a great bonus. Warm in the October sunshine and we enjoyed the opportunity to take breakfast outside. A boulangerie just across the road was perfect for the morning croissant run! Although the apartment is quite close to the busy port, we experienced little noise being up on the 6th floor. The bed was most comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water, and kitchen utensils, although we didn't do much cooking in, prefering instead to visit some of the many places to eat in the locality. WiFi was efficient, and a washing machine and dishwasher added to the comforts. Marseille itself kept us entertained for the whole week. We made use of a three day pass on the public transport, and additionally the Marseille Pass which gave us a further three days using the transport, plus access to museums, the tourist train and the ColourBus. (We would have liked to visit Chateau d'If but the queues for the boat even in October were long). If we were to return to Marseille we would definitely choose this apartment again and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Marseille adventure

Roland was a wonderful host. The apartment was immaculate, well furnished, and a great central location on the the harbor. Bakery, coffee shops, and supermarket all close by. Parking garage very close and convenient. Short walk to endless restaurants. Roland gave us many exceptional recommendations for dinning. Would definitely put this on our list of apartments when we return to Marseille.

Wonderful apartment incredible location

This was our third trip to Marseille and this apartment surpassed all our expectations. The location is superb a minute from the harbor and all the local restaurants and bars. The apartment is very well appointed with plenty of kitchen equipment, towels, and even hangers! so many owners seem to think that guests don't bring clothes with them on vacation! The apartment also has a great terrace with a spot for afternoon sunbathing. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace every morning. It was very warm during our stay and having full air con was a bonus. Finally, Roland is a great host very helpful and friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. I would really recommend this accommodation as a great place to stay.

Roomy, light-filled, with terrace

We loved the amount and layout of the space, just a few steps from the old port promenade, but up and away enough to ensure quiet. Large French windows, high ceilings, excellent furniture and just enough decor to brighten it up. Big shady terrace just off the kitchen. Everything worked nicely.

Brilliant location in centre of Vieux Port.

The apartment is superbly situated within one minute of Vieux Port. Shops, boulangerie, restaurants, metro and buses all within a short stroll. The apartment is very clean, comfortable with lovely outdoor roof terrace for meals. Roland, the owner, was very helpful, (speaks excellent English!) and could not have done more to ensure we had a great first holiday in Marseille. Would certainly return in future! Nous avons adoré notre séjour, l'appartement était en tout point conforme à la description. L'endroit est tout simplement magique, la vue du port est vraiment de toute beauté et la cour intérieure nous permettait de petit déjeuner en toute tranquillité. L'appartement quoi que dans le coeur de l'action est très tranquille. Roland nous a donné de bonnes informations pour visiter Marseille ainsi que l'arrière pays. Je recommande définitivement cet endroit, très bien situé pour visiter la ville et facile d'accès, si comme nous vous avez une voiture. Notre seul regret.... notre séjour était nettement trop court. Arrived by Eurostar.Took metro blue line one,2 stops to port.Very easy to find apartment.Helene and Roland very helpful.Apartment situated right on the harbour .Very spacious, lounge well equipped,side balcony with great views to harbour.Great evenings sitting watching boats,not enough space for chairs but sitting on step ok. Tv and cable,dining table,comfy sofa,stereo.Kitchen very well equipped.Halogen top , full oven,microwave,coffee maker.Double doors to outside roof terrace.Very spacious.large table and chairs.Also washing machine in outside cupboard.We used it twice .Drying rack.Drying made easy .Lovely to eat there..Great artisan bakery across the road.Fresh baguette every morning. Bedroom very spacious.,comfy bed.plenty of storage.Double doors out to narrow balcony with views to harbour. We felt extremely safe staying here.2women.Street door had lock,then external door with key, then lift.then key to apartment.Bathroom very spacious.shower cubicle.separate toilet.iron and board. Lots to do in Marseille.We did lots of walking to a all area's.Took th ferry to Freile island.lovely.peacful.had lunch.8 Euro for ferry .fab. Also they have a little train again just outside apartment , 2 routes .1 to cathedral and 1 to panier.8 Euro..But it is all walkable.Fisherman arrive every morning on the harbour.just opposite. All in all very friendly hosts.Great location.right in the harbour .Fantastic places to eat and drink.A few streets away from the port you can find lovely squares to sit and enjoy. Lovely apartment in perfect location

This top floor apartment, with lift, is beautiful - tasteful decor and sparkling clean. There's everything you could need for making meals and coffee, very convenient shower room/toilet and delightful terrace at the rear. Wifi is fast and reliable and air-conditioning excellent. Restaurants, bakers, supermarkets and places of interest are within easy walking distance on each side of the Vieux Port - all totally convenient. Victor gave us a warm welcome, and it was great to meet his parents,Helene and Roland, at the end of our stay - thank you so much for a wonderful trip - we hope to be back!
