My partner and I have just spent 3 nights here and just cannot find fault. We were upgraded to a Privilege room with port view, which was just huge and comfortable and the view was in fact lovely; bonus points for the Nespresso machine and free soft drinks in the minibar, replaced every day. The hotel is a short walk to the Old Port - there are a couple of routes - and St Charles station is about a 15-min walk. There's also a tram stop all but outside on Square Belsunce, and (conveniently) a Carrefour City at the tram stop and a Carrefour Market at the adjoining shopping centre. We filled up on drinks, snacks and pastries here rather than having breakfast at the hotel. As I say, I really can't fault the hotel. A special mention to Monica at reception, who was very friendly and offered us a welcome drink and special shower gel made with local lavender.

paid up front, then had to pay more before we could check out of the hotel! Reception staff were worst I have ever encountered. The only decent person in the hotel was the Maitre'd who also worked on the bar, he was very helpfull and gave us advice on where to go and what to do.

We chose this hotel because it had car parking facilities close to it and most of the tourist attractions can be accessed easily. Although you have to drive the car round the block to the car park you can take the elevator to the shopping area adjescent to the hotel to reach your car or get back to the hotel. There is a separate door next to the hotel,s elevator leading to me elevator to the car park from the shopping area. If at any time you find the shopping area is closed for exit when you come up the elevator you can ring the bell located near the door leading to the hotel lobby and they will let you in. This was not explained to us by the reception but we figured it out by chance! Our room was spacious but the carpets in the room and the corridor could do with proper steam clean or replacement. The toilet was in a separate adjescent room. The exhaust in the toilet was not functioning or if it was not effective at all. Special thanks to Monica at the reception who gave us some valuable tips for our sightseeing and for the further onward trips. Breakfast was reasonable but nothing exceptional. We did not see any vegetarian choice for dinner so we gave it a miss.

The hotel has a great location, super nice rooms and a fantastic bed, the staff is very friendly, and it has obviously been renovated recently so that it is clean, modern and functional. I will definitely come back.

This Mercure Hotel was very nice and the FOH staff were very friendly. We went for the privilege room with breakfast and were very happy with the size of the room as it has plenty of space, a comfy bed, good bathroom and nice views. The breakfast was nice but we did find that there was a lot of empty spaces as if they should have been a lot more out and that the cooked food was limited unless you requested something from the chef who wasn’t always around. We also found that although English was in some places in the hotel notices and signs were not so much.

The hotel is right in the city centre of Marseille. That is the advantage. The room was basic and clean. The room service works very hard really. The downside of the hotel was the direct neighbourhood. Scary people right in front of the hotel, people I have seen in the banlieu of Paris. You must like it. The receptionists are all very helpful and even praised my lousy French. Do not book a room on top floor, since there is a very noisy air conditioning on the roof. I was able to change the room even after midnight. Great service. Quiet? Yes, it is. French breakfast with an English corner. Bring your own tea if you like PG tips.

The staff were great, very helpful and accomodating. The room was good, hard bed, ample washroom. Nice to have a window. The breakfast I would not pay for extra, if it does not come with your room. But nice to have if it does. The parking is a little hard to get to and find (yellow zone). Best thing to do is to stop by the front desk when you arrive and they can provide you a map with instructions. Very easy from that point forward.

I only have one good thing to say about this hote, it is the location. I booked and fully paid a privilege room. It is a short walk to Vieux Port and the link to shopping centre is convenient. This was a real hotel of extremes.

Getting away in December is quite a new experience for us, okay we are behind for Christmas but we had a spare week and fancied a break. We wanted to go back to Marseilles as our previous trip was very short but knew December would not be an ideal time, how wrong we were. Believing that we wouldn't be spending much time outside we selected the Mercure because of its comfort & warmth & proximity to interesting shops and the port. We were not disappointed with the hotel, the welcome was friendly and we were treated well. When we called into the bar there was a friendly greeting & a smile, it was pleasure to stop there even before getting back to your room. As for the cleaning staff they could not be faulted, if we met them in the corridor they would enquire (with a smile) when our room would be ready to clean, a nice touch. The Mercure Marseille Centre Vieux Port is an hotel you would have no hesitation to visit again.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a conference for 5 nights. Below is my review: 1. Location(5 Stars): Is very good. It is a short walk to Vieux Port and the link to Shopping Centre is convenient. 2. Service(4 Stars): Staff were courteous and efficient. However, the front desk is a bit under manned. 3. Breakfast buffet(4 Stars): Good. 4. Function Rooms and Service(4 Stars): Good 5. Rooms(2 Stars): The room was below par for a 4 star hotel. The room size, window and wardrobe is small. It will just fit one person but the wardrobe space and space for luggage for two is too tight. The toilet does not have a shower that can close and the floor tends to get wet after every shower. The water pressure is very poor. For Asians, the lack of a bidet hose at the toilet is also a problem. 6. Value: Good
