We booked a family holiday here over the Christmas period, and were not disappointed! Its a beautiful riad, very clean and the rooms we had were spacious with private terraces. The two people who dealt with us were Kareem and Yasmine, both very sweet and very helpful. I booked this place because of the great reviews and knew that it would be slightly different to a hotel but was very happy I decided not to book a hotel. The rooms were cleaned daily, breakfast made at our chosen time and to our request, and even though there was no 24 hour room service we were still well looked after. Yasmine made sure we got our hot water and milk for tea in the evenings (old British habits die hard!). The rooms were much more spacious than we would ever have gotten in a hotel, and we basically had the pool to ourselves which was lovely. We probably would not have slept as well if we had booked i the city. The only slight drawback is the distance to the main tourists destinations and the city. I was under the impression that the riad has its own bus shuttle service but this is not the case. However, it was fairly easy to hail a taxi from the main road. Another slight issue was the plumbing in one of the bathrooms, there would always be a slight smell from the toilet and the shower would always go from hot to cold every few seconds. I was also under the impression that the hosts would speak good English as our messages exchanged before the trip seemed to be in good English, however, French is the main language spoken here and communication was a bit of an issue. I wish I had learnt some French before going! Overall we had a lovely time and are very grateful to Yasmine and Kareem.
I was very impressed with Kasbah Dar Ilham. In my opinion, its better than a hotel because it feels more personable and more intimate. I loved my room with the balcony overlooking the pool and I slept peacefully. My only advice is to order your food about an hour ahead of time because the food is ALWAYS fresh so it takes a bit longer...but other than that, it is definitely worth the wait because the food is very good ( just order a bottle of wine while you wait by the pool :) Thank you Aziz and Abdel for making me feel welcome and making my stay great. I would definitely stay here again.
A group of us stayed here for a friends wedding and couldn't be more pleased. Fatima was so sweet and accommodating and the hotel couldn't be more beautiful. Would recommend this place for someone looking for an intimate and warm environment. Thanks so Much !
We stayed at the Kasbah Dar Ilham for a week in August and it was the most bizarre "hotel" I've ever stayed in and the reasons follow: 1) Dinner times Be prepared to know what you want for dinner and what time you want it at breakfast. Lunch and dinner must be ordered at least 4 hours before you want It so don't expect to be able to change your mind depending on how your day went. Even when you do plan what time to have dinner - don't expect it to be ready on time which begs the questions. Why do you need to preorder and name a time 4 hours before? 2) Missing menu items They might have a whole page dedicated to drinks including champagne, red and white wine, beer, spirits and a range of soft drinks but don't let this fool you. They only seem to have lemonade and water available with the promise that they will have some more drinks "tomorrow" but tomorrow never seems to come. Don't be expecting a nice cold beer in the sun! 3) Repetitive breakfast You will enjoy the breakfast if you like bread, bread and cake every morning for your stay. There's not even an option for fruit so if you have a gluten intolerance you won't be having any breakfast to start your day. On our last morning, we had arranged to have breakfast at 7.30am as our taxi to the airport was arriving at 8. Somebody turned up at 7.55 so not ideal. We didn't have breakfast that day. 4) Water availability On more than one occasion (4 times during our week stay) the water in the room refused to work. The taps wouldn't run and neither would the shower. Pretty annoying if you have planned to head out for dinner but can't have a shower after a day in the sun because the water won't work. I've never been to a hotel where the water fails. 5) Fresh beds Again we stayed for a week - our room was made up once. Granted one day there was a sandstorm and so we didn't leave the room. However, we took multiple day trips and when we came back the room hadn't been made up even though there was adequate time to do so. This meant- no fresh towels, no toilet paper, an overflowing bin and cockroaches. 6) Evening queries Don't expect that you will be able to find anyone if you have a query. Everybody leaves at about 8pm and the lights are all turned off. Heaven forbid you might need a bottle of water at 10pm when it's been 40 degrees all day. Even during the day it can be quite difficult to find people. Good points: Nice pool. Nice guy who works there who seems to try. Nice room - if it got made up a bit while you're there.
This is a peaceful alternative for those who do want to be in the city. The highlight is to be able each morning to wake to the birds and the sun on your private terrace then to have a leisurely breakfast on the main terrace, which is beautifully presented. There were hardly any other guests, so frequently we had the whole terrace and the huge pool to ourselves. The hotel is quite far out so factor this in. It wasn't a big deal for us as we were happy to book their driver each time we wanted to go in and we would frequently stay out all day and not return until evening on the days we were exploring. If you are returning after 8pm you will be charged 300Dr return which is a bit steep and can add up; however it is a personal driver who will turn up when and where you like. The place has more of the feeling of a luxury guesthouse than a hotel. So for instance you will normally need to get up and find someone if you want a drink rather than expect service. For me this is not a problem but it could grate. My only complaint is that I had trouble getting hold of anybody after booking to arrange our free airport transfer - they were not responding to emails so in the end I had to call from the UK. During this process I became worried they had not got the booking so this aspect needs to be improved.
We have just returned after a 3 night break having stayed here last year and loved it then .... We still love it and we will be going back ... Picked up from the airport by the free hotel shuttle bus driven by the lovely Jad .. Check in and welcome at the Riad easy and smooth .. Upgraded to a gorgeous room overlooking the pool .. Spotless room .. Huge bed ! Just lovely. We ate here and the lovely ladies in the kitchen certainly prepared some wonderful food for us .... Recommend the chicken tagine and the mixed kebab ! Just love this place and can't wait to go back ... The guys that manage it , the ladies in the kitchen , Jad , the lovely cleaning lady , and the gardener .. Thank you so much for your hospitality and see you again 👍
Just returned from an amazing trip to Morocco. The hotel was perfect for our honeymoon, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the market which makes it so peaceful. Staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Worth every penny for a true taste of Morocco.
We stayed at Dar Ilham for four nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and gave excellent advice on day trips etc. The breakfast was fantastic. The location was away from the hussle bussle of the city and we were upgraded to a room with a great view of Atlas mountains. Would highly recommend this hotel.
We booked first for 3 nights, but ended up staying with them more than 10. My wife and I have been in this amazing place, quite, elegant, and perfect service. They do a lot of attention to small details, and this is what we are looking for during our trip. A big thank you to all the staff and of course we will be back soon. Best Regards Lorenzo
