Sea Dell Motel2.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at the Sea Dell in July 2019 and found the staff to be pleasant and professional. I booked a queen XL by calling the Sea Dell directly and the room was ready when we arrived at 3pm. The grounds are very attractive and the exterior and interior of our room looked to have fresh paint in bright "Keys" colors. The room and bath facilities were clean, bed comfortable, wifi presented no problems, and TV well situated for viewing. The AC was more than comfortable (we even made the room less cold for our stay) and not nearly as noisy as some other places we have stayed in the Keys. We appreciated having a nice mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave in the room. When vacationing in the Keys, we trailer a small RIB inflatable boat. We had no problem parking this at the motel, however the grounds are not really suited for large motorboats. The pool was clean and a welcome place to relax after spending the day in salt water. If you are looking for a comfortable, affordable "Mom and Pop" type motel, please consider the Sea Dell. We will be staying there again when in the Keys. Marathon is centrally located and the Sea Dell is easy to find in the center of Marathon.
The staff are really friendly, they provided great restaurant recommendations and check-in was nice and easy. The pool is beside the highway but great for a morning swim. Location is good, you can walk to bars and restaurants and Sombrero beach is a short drive away. The rooms are a good size, a bit basic but they have everything that you need. The iguanas are huge and we loved sitting outside our room watching them. This is a motel, it is not fancy but it is friendly, clean and charming.
Very affordable motel just about an hr from Key West. Rented double bed room and it was as advertised. Same price on hotel website as it was thru this one. Front desk staff were very friendly. Would recommend for future visit.
Our main focus of the trip to the Keys this time was to visit the Dolphin Research Centre. And from Ft Lauderdale I didn't fancy a day trip. I checked hotels and Sea Dell was the cheapest along the Overseas Highway and also had good reviews. So I booked. We ended up at the back on the adjoining street in room 12. It was a small double bur came with microwave and coffee maker and plenty of coffee/sugar/creamers and more free from reception. Check quick and informative. A bit quirky and maybe a bit dated but that was its charm. Would I stay again? Yes.
If your looking for luxury, this isn't it. Its the keys & a lot of places are very laid back. The room is a nice size, bed & pillows ok. A lot of TV channels. The room is kitchenet style. Bathroom so small! Faucet in room moved back & forth & leaked. Only when on. There is a few quirks. If you can live with it then not a bad place. Staff nice.
Staying at the Sea Dell is like stepping back in time to an era that was much slower-paced and laid back than the present-day Marathon. The Sea Dell offers all of the basics: laundry, heated pool, and parking right outside of your room. In addition to in-room pots, coffee is available on most mornings. The owners are very “hands-on” and the staff is friendly, efficient, and helpful. There is no restaurant on-site, but there are plenty of great places to eat and drink in the immediate area, some within walking distance. A binder on the counter contains updated menus of all of the restaurants in Marathon, or ask one of the knowledgeable employees for dining advice. Located in downtown Marathon, “in the heart of the Keys.” Very reasonable rates.
This is no Marriott and that is good with me! I wanted clean and good ac...and it was a yes on both. Sure its older but it was definitely clean and has a great staff that was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice so stop and enjoy a piece of old fla....i will be back...oh...and i called from key largo...i was on a motorcycle....and the held a room for me on my word....who does that anymore....i love that they still believe someones word means something!
What a fabulous little Motel right on the Overseas Highway with very clean rooms, Priced Right and an awesome pool and very nice friendly staff. I stay here two or three times a year and always enjoy my visit.
In another location this would be a 3 star motel, but the keys are expensive and this place is fairly reasonably priced. This 1950's throwback is on a busy commercial strip. The grounds are nicely decorated with numerous shaded picnic tables in the courtyard. Most rooms have sliding glass doors toward the courtyard. The pool was warm even in January. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated but a bit dated. Numerous amusing "jack-leg" repairs were in evidence but everything was functional. The handicapped room #23 is large and sunny but suffers from traffic noise. The beds were of high quality when new many years ago, but one seems to have suffered from either jumping children or a very heavy person. I would definitely stay here again :) Please note: The office closes at 11 PM and you are on your own for breakfast, but there is coffee.
My husband and I stayed a week here and it is very quaint. The staff was welcoming and helpful. One of the main reasons we picked this place was for the location, in the middle of the Florida Keys. Shopping, restaurants and sightseeing are easy to access. The beds and pillows were comfortable for us, and it was clean. We felt safe and were happy with this motel. We would stay there again. It's not fancy, it is a motel, but it fit our needs.
