Intercontinental Maracaibo

The Intercontinental is well located and provides a standard business hotel experience. Unfortunately, there are plenty of quarks including not being able to use a Venezuelan credit card as a guarantee, the requirement to pay the entire stay at check-in, and expensive, mediocre restaurants. The steakhouse was expensive and the meat had no flavor. The Italian restaurant doesn’t have a menu. Instead, you must rely on suggestions form the waiter without any idea what you order costs. The coffee bar has light snacks, but beware of the prices. A small ham and cheese sandwich with a handful of fries will cost you 500,000 Bolivares or more than $100 on the official exchange rate. There are positives: the included breakfast buffet is excellent and provides ample choices, and the gym is well-appointed.

The experience was really pleasant for both of us, the only problem was that at the restaurant, pool area and incluiding room service don't speak english at all ONLY ONE EXECUTIVE IN THE LOBBY Its so dissapointing since my husband got in love with Venezuela sadly any international hotel brand in Venezuela so far can offer that.

I am a returning customer and I am just impressed with the safety and the comfort level of this hotel. The entire facility is handled with care. Great and professional service from the staff all around. Will return again in the future.

Overall best available!! Service at frontdesk, good although some amenminities asked for upfront were forgotten, they fixed this ASAP Rooms ready and very good Pool, very good, breakfast included also nice! For a country as Venezuela in the situation it is, at the Intercontinental not much was noticeable of it Great Job!

The hotel is very clean and luxurious. The accommodation is very good with good internet connection. The gym is amazing, very complete, you can have a full workout there. The pool is beautiful. The restaurants are great, amazing food. The service is outstanding there. There is bar that is opened daily and a lounge with live music on weekends. Just awesome!

From 13 to 15 June I was in this hotel and I summarize my experience, it seems to me a hotel of excellent standard, good quality facilities and cleanliness, it feels like a recent hotel should not have long built, excellent service, Room very well equipped, even had to connect the ipod to the alarm clock with a good working desk, telephone and wif connection with good speed, super complete breakfast, meals out of schedule are super expensive, I do not recommend it for the national traveler, limited Mobility due to being in a somewhat withdrawn area, it depends on taxis

I stayed at this hotel for three nights recently in May'17. I have stayed in this property before ( Please check my old review). However, on my latest stay, the property has really improved helluva lot. I was extremely satisfied. Please bear in mind. My review is basis situation in Venezuela in general . The good. 1. The room felt extremely fresh. 2. The bed was extremely comfortable. The AC was working well and efficiently. 3. The bathroom had good flow of water and was efficient. 4.The front desk was super friendly and polite. Well appreciated! 10/10 to front desk staff. 5. The staff at restaurants, coffee shops etc were efficient and polite. 6. The security of the hotel was good. For example, I had a guest, whom I wanted to take to my room but was first asked to register on front desk. Since room was booked for two people, no extra charges were levied for the guest - who was a relative. 7. The GYM is very very very nice. Old school type with lot of barbells. Perfect for doing deadlifts, squats etc. Pull up bars etc also available. I really loved the gym. 8. The location of the hotel is very central and very close to nice spots in the city. 9. The integrity of hotel housekeeping staff is 10/10. I had left my laptop, cash etc in the room. Nothing was stolen considering the situation of the country. This was highly appreciated by self. 10. Late checkout upto 4 pm was allowed to me at no extra cost. This itself made me really love and appreciate this hotel. ( My flight was at 8 pm and henceforth request for late checkout). 11. Soaps , Shampoos etc provided in the room despite the situation in the country. 12. The hotel has a night club. It has a excellent ambience in night time with really good music. The BAD 1. The internet signal was not the best. It seemed to break often. Stronly suggest to buy a sim card and use 4 G when in Venezuela. 2. The elevators were locked and one could only use them by swiping the card. Sometimes the elevators were not able to read the card repeatedly. 3. The room safe was not working on arrival. However, a technician was sent and the room safe was repaired. 4. The hotel has a night club on the property. I went there one night. The security was not ready to believe that I am staying at the hotel and was harassing me to pay some enterance fees. The hotel manager is requested to talk to security staff of the night club to treat us - foreign guests at your hotel with respect. Final Notes - I will definitely return to this property. The experience was 10/10 despite some minor hassles. I left the hotel with a smile on my face. Tips - Ensure you have a local credit card on their system so you can use the restaurants etc without a hassle. Ask them to send a taxi to pick you up from the airport. Ensure you have a local cash. Good living at Intercontinental Maracaibo, the best hotel in the City, does have bar, nice comun areas and ocean view room, in carnival they offer pool night and very nice music whit the important DJ.

If you are an IHG member we trying to redeem a night , walkin customers have preference. Family asking why you are taking long really makes up for agonizing service experiencia. They should be instructed on how to treat a member

Good choice among others in the city. VIP Lounge is just working 2 hours from Mon thru Sat. Decent WiFi. Not so many amenities in the social area. Personnel works hard and they are very friendly and resourceful
