It’s very cheap so you can’t expect too much, but it’s clean and less than a 10 min drive to the airport. You get a free transfer if you land in Manila airport. It is very cheap for the return journey back to Manila airport.
This hotel is in the slum of Manila, it is a building in the middle of a residential run down neighborhood with no shops and only fast food. No closet in the room or anywhere to hang the clothes, no bedside table or lamp, the roosters are in full swing from 2:30 AM and so are the dogs and cats. Wrong phone number listed on Booking.com, super old noisy A/C unit, terrible WI-FI connection, tiny bathroom, no shower curtains so water everywhere when showering, no smoke alarms in the entire building I noticed! The worst mattress I have ever slept on, toilet seat was lose, the neighbors’ kids playing outside and locals sitting outside talking in the evening. Terrible picture connection on the TV and hard to watch the channels, slamming doors all night and guests coming and going, a strong smell of food in my room from the outside. These are not apartments as the name of the hotel suggests, they are rooms in a building. I would not even call it a hotel! The ‘elevator’ if one can call that is the oldest thing I have ever seen and has no door. Not sure how it passed the safety regulations but this is the same hotel that has no smoke alarms so... The elevator makes a lot of noise each time it lands on a floor. No mosquito nets on the windows. At 2:30 AM I got woken up by loud voices from the lobby (my room was on the 3rd floor!!) When I went downstairs to check out at 4:00 AM and the voices could still be heard, I learned it was 2 guests (a man and a woman) sitting in the lobby drinking beer (at 4:00 AM!!!!!!!) talking SUPER loud. I asked the receptionist who was not very friendly, what was going on and told her I got woken up by those people. She ignored me and I then asked her how it could be possible for the hotel to allow guests talking that loud in the lobby area and drinking at that time of the day. She told me the guests were waiting to check out. Oh, so that makes it OK then? Their voices were traveling all the way to the 3rd. Free airport pick up, a fridge int he room, close to terminal 1 but not to the other terminals. Friendly staff apart from the woman who works at night.
You book Alicia Apartments because it is close to all the terminals. You also are attracted to the low cost. It is a low cost stay over hotel. However you are superbly looked after from pick up to drop off from the airport. The family that run the place where so caring and courteous to my family. They put up with storing cases. Allowing us time together to drink some beers in the evening. To even let us charge phones etc way after we have booked out and were waiting for flights using them still as a base. They even opened their home to let us use facilities. Top people! Would use again and again. Even allowed my Filipino friends to meet us there and communicated with them to make it happen.
Good for this purpose. Free pickup ordered by WhatsApp. Took 10mins to arrive. At hotel there was a paper to fill with all info: breakfast time (delivered in room), checkout time, drop off time and terminal number. Drop off is 300 pesos, at least to terminal 3. Room is clean and looks recently renovated. WiFi is working good considering it’s in Manila, not perfect but still ok. No complains from me. Lift feels a bit weird comparing to European standards, and ridiculously slow. Drinks for sale at the frontdesk. Pizza delivery etc possible from all major chains available. Area seems like normal Manila village. Not the poorest but certainly not the richest as well. Didn’t really get a good look but this impression I got from the taxis window. I’d think twice going out at dark alone. For my purpose this is very good. Money well spent.
This is an inexpensive hotel in a poor area near the airport but I knew what to expect after reading reviews. What i didn’t expect was how frugal the breakfast would be - the slimmest toasts I have ever been served (only 2, and no refill because they bring the breakfast to your room) - and above all that I would not be able to connect to the internet, neither with my laptop nor with my iPad. I actually did connect after going downstairs in the middle of the night to exchange messages with a US client. Not acceptable, this is vital for my work.
A very basic hotel in a poor neighbourhood. We stayed 2 nights which is unusual as most apparently are just stop overs. Very noisy with Cockerels crowing whenever regardless of dawn. Also shuttle running throughout the night. Kettle in room but no tea/coffee except at breakfast. We got soaked and I went to reception in bare feet and was told to wear slippers which are not provided. The lift to access the upper floors is dangerous with no door or gate that must be closed. No room service took place between our 2 nights and our breakfast trays were left in the rooms attracting ants.
Stayed for a stop over for connecting flight too Iloilo and the hotel was comfortable and close to airport, was clean and staff were helpful I would defiantly use this hotel again the pick up from airport is free going too hotel but cost 200 pesos to return.
The communication was smooth and good, my WhatsApp messages got fast reply. The breakfast was on time. The drop-off shuttle was on time. The check-in was smooth. The receptionist who greeted me was friendly, she answered all my questions with a smile. She also suggested me to buy a sim card close to the property, rather than in the airport, it's much cheaper. I got my sim card 47 PHP. They have a pizza delivery, she helped me to order my dinner. The room is large, the bed is comfy. They have a refrigerator. I didn't know that their shuttle offer is only one way. So I have to pay extra for my second shuttle, it costs 200 PHP. I already confirmed my time of arrival, yet they said they couldn't contact their driver to pick me up, and suggested me to take a cab/ grab. But since it's not so late, so I prefer to wait at the airport. Not so long after that, they solved our problem and sent me a shuttle. Internet was bad in the room.
This place is a good option for one night stay if you land in Manila little later and have flight the following day. It is close to the airport and provides free ONE WAY shuttle from the airport. On the way to the airport the shuttle took us to wrong terminal (3 instead of 4) and left right away so we had to take a taxi to get to the correct terminal. Took us 15-20 minutes. The area where the hotel is located doesn´t look the best. Room was very clean but kind of small with very small bathroom where we had troubles to close the door. A/C worked well. Breakfast very simple but good. We would recommend this place for short time period only.
On the plus side the room was very very clean. The bed was comfortable. The AC worked well. The staff was very pleasant. The WiFi in the room was intermittent. The location can fairly be described as impoverished residential. I arrived at night and I have to admit I felt a bit uneasy as the van navigated the maze of side streets to get there. However impoverished dies nor mean dangerous. I went out at night in search of a restaurant and felt completely comfortable. There are not many restaurants within walking distance. I found only one local restaurant. It is definitely not a tourist or commercial area. I would stay here again. The free airport pick up is a plus.
