We very much enjoyed our stay. The location was great with everything within walking distance. The staff were friendly and checking in and out was straight forward. It is very noisy at night but didnt bother us. The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. The only bad points was the wifi, it was rubbish and the 4g wasnt great either.
Booked on a deal for £5 more than a room in a “normal” hotel because of location and space available. The apartment was amazing, 2 double bedrooms and a nice lounge. All very well furnished and very clean. On first impression I was really impressed at my bargain. After my night out I returned to the apartment for some much needed sleep and oh dear. The sound insulation in the relatively new building is woefully inadequate making it feel like you’re actually inside the printworks listening to the music and I was sleeping or trying to with two rooms between me and it. Add to that the noise coming through the balcony doors from the birdcage taxi rank and between midnight and 7am you’ll be very lucky to get any sleep. Such a shame a minor but vital detail was skimped on during building as otherwise the apartments are fantastic. Great midweek and at weekends if you intend to party all night and sleep all day
Stayed here as a family for 2 nights: staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was great. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. Wasn’t massive but ample for what we needed. The place is a little tired, needs a refurb. Kitchen was grubby and units chipped. Only 1 shelf in the fridge and nothing to hold the milk in the door. Bedrooms were ok, clean bedding but hardly and coat hangers...not a massive problem, we managed. Great central location, right opp the birdcage and above the printworks. Loads of great places to eat and drink within walking distance. Struggled with room to leave luggage when we checked out as they didntWould only stay again if there was nothing else available.
Room was clean but noise was unbearable- had no sleep at all. Shopping crr directly opposite but that wasn’t issue - burglary alarms going off constantly, doors slamming shut. I was directly over reception and that door banged whenever someone walked in which was all hours. The communal areas, stairs smelt from fried chicken shop and people (didn’t look like guest) hanging around in reception (unmanned reception at night). Really unnerving, didn’t feel safe at all
We visited to watch a band play in Manchester. The pics on booking.com made it look upmarket and appealing. On arrival we were greeted by a nice gentleman but the building itself is in poor repair. We had to pay £150 damages deposit and the flat we stayed in had the main door handle wobbling (so we had to treat it with mega care to not loose the deposit) the bathroom had been damaged and a hodge job of filler used to fix it, and the bathroom window wasn't attached properly. On top of this we were right next to a night club and a loading bay so at 2am when the music stopped the loading then started at 6am... really relaxing! NOT. STAFF were nice LOCATION great if you want to be in town minus the noise ROOM needed some serious talc although the cleaners do a good job As others have said, not for couples or families!
The location of this place was excellent, right in the centre of town opposite the Arndale and the room was very modern however it was very noisy for most of the night, even with the windows closed. There were a lot of drunks shouting on the street below and there was a big club right opposite. The plus side is that the apartment style was nicer than a regular hotel room and having a proper kitchen was a bonus.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with 1 queen bed n 3 single bed. The apartment is large and has all basic amenities. It is located right next to Arndale Shopping Centre and on the same road as Hard Rock Cafe. All shops and clubs are very close and within walking distance. If you stay during the weekend, do take into account that there maybe a lot of noise from the clubs and drunk people.
works aparthotel , is a perfect location for a night out or shopping in Manchester , with arndale shopping across road and many many pubs clubs eateries ect , inc wetherspoon walkabout beerkeller tiger tiger yates, and much more , first we found it hard to find the entrance , so the apartments are in a building called the print works , and the single door way, entrance is opposite the bird cage club lit up blue , you will need id to book in and they take a £150 damage waiver returnable , we were on 5th floor,504 which was great away from road we had a small balcony ,full kitchen with fridge freezer , also hair dryer iron ironing board tv dvd player , all round decent apartment bit tired in places (there was a big crack across our bathroom mirror) but would recommend location perfect also there is a lift , Parking across road ncp 24hr parking cost all day and all night £18 max charge , also we went kocarting at Daytona karting only 4 miles away by old Trafford footy ground ..
We stayed here 4 nights and having an app Apartment made all the difference - comfortable bed, kitchen and seating area meant we could relax and have space - although not serviced - they will bring fresh towels
Stayed here for one night with 2 girl friends. Like someone else has mentioned - it was quite hard to initially find. Walked past it about 3 times before realising! Some extra signage would help. When we arrived early, we were told our room was ready for us, but we had to pay if we wanted to get in it early. We declined the offer, but it did make me wonder. I know with early check in a fee is sometimes charged as the cleaner has to come in earlier. However in this instance she said the room was already clean and ready, but we'd have to pay £15 to get in early. We're ok thanks, we'll come back at 3pm. In addition she tried to charge us a £150 deposit, which is more than we actually paid for the room. She said it had to be on the card I booked with, and unfortunately for her, I didn't have that kind of spare cash on my daily debit card the week before payday. She did waive the fee after some discussion (note I would have been happy to pay if it was a large group of hens etc, but 3 sensible women? Seemed completely unnecessary), but she did charge my card £1 so im keeping a close eye on it to see if there are any extra charges deducted over the next few days. The above two points were a bit of a sour start but it was fine from then onwards. The apartment itself was actually really generously sized and the beds were comfortable. I would note however that with so many security deposits being withheld (see previous reviews from other people) I couldn't see what these deposits were being spent on. When we arrived the cups were chipped, there was a hair straightener burn on the carpet, the wood furniture had chips and scuffs taken out of them - nothing major, but things that £150 could fix pretty quickly! There was a balcony that you could stand out on but it was only small. Location wise was ideal - opposite the Arndale, inside the Printworks and just round the corner from both Deansgate and the Northern Quarter. For that reason alone I'd say this is ideal for groups of people wanting a good night out, but note that The Birdcage is across the road. I managed to sleep fine whilst the bar was open (we got back about 3am and it was still open) but when they chucked out at 6am I did wake up - although not for long. And we were only on the 2nd floor so I suspect higher floors would hear even less! Would I return with the girls? Possibly, but I'd have to have the discussion regarding the deposit again. It left a bad taste in my mouth and would have been even worse had I booked the Penthouse, which wants a deposit of £400! They also catch you out in that they don't tell you about the deposit until you receive your booking confirmation, by which time you've probably already paid an early bird non refundable amount for the room. I've stayed in 5* hotels who've only ever wanted a £50 deposit! If it wasn't for this, I'd return in a flash. With my husband or family? Not a chance.
