We visited Malta this month and for us , Sunflower Hotel was the perfect choice. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and well looked after. The restaurant provides all you can eat style buffet breakfast and evening meals are very good too. The indoor pool is nice and warm. My boys love it.
Well this was our second visit back to the sunflower hotel and was also on the occasion of my birthday. Both of these details had been emailed to the hotel ( from our travel agent) this information was confirmed back to our travel agent by the hotel. unfortunately to this moment of time and now back home in the UK nothing has been acknowledged during our stay, mentioned or offered. On our last visit 2 years ago it was our silver wedding anniversary holiday, we were upgraded to a large corner room with all amenities and on the table on our arrival was a carved apple with a heart on the side and in the hollowed out middle a tea light candle, plus a bottle of wine, fruit and wine glasses and a card signed by the manager and staff. So a let down this time. Anyway once again the hotel was fine but the rooms still need some TLC. (our room 616) The beds are very hard our backs for 11 days are very sore- could have slept better on the floor. walls had flaking paint and bathroom plaster missing, some loose electrical cabling from the bathroom mirror-cable from the hairdryer that is. the TV only has one UK station sky news which is repeated constantly. we turned it off after first day!! the food again was good. same as last time plenty to choose from-salads soup changing daily and choice of main dishes to choose. as a chef myself I just feel some of the hot dishes could and should be hotter, pasta dishes defiantly need to be hotter. staff are all friendly and pleasant from the chambermaids bar staff and waitresses especially Alexa and Elena. Dont get me wrong its a pleasant lovely hotel. clean and tidy, staff good and good food, just needs a little TLC. as I mentioned before. Both my wife and I are hotel workers and this was our holiday break but would we come back again for a third visit---honestly I'm not sure we would which I'm sorry to say.
Hotel is a little bit far from tourist center of Qawra/ Bugibba, that means 10 minutes by foot. For us, everything is going OK. There is no problem with the water (hot, good pressure), cleaning, fresh towels. Breakfest - quite good, like everywhere on Malta, exellent bread, some eggs, hot dogs, fruits, tomatos. Nothing special, but - ok. We visited hotel in winter, so the pool on the roof whas closed. Generaly - if you look for a hotel - travel base - is quite good choice for reasonable prize. The bus is very closely (very important!), but - the shortcut to the station may be a little bit surprised.
Not worth the price . Central heating not working and room was frozen. Heaters provided last nite and lucky us we weren't burnt during our sleep as the plugs melted. Paid for inclusive drinks but it was like we were asking for the moon when we asked for drinks. Not worth it.
Here for one month..half way through our holiday. Already wanting to book again for another holiday.. EVERY THING IS EXCELLENT.. Easy access to buses shops and the beautiful sea front. A fantastic 2.5miles stroll of amazing scenery.and the deep blue Mediterranean washing lazily against the rocks
Nice hotel very friendly and helpful staff, good food with plenty of variety on the menu, nice and clean everywhere. Music on several evenings and karaoke. Within easy reach of the local bus services which cover most of Malta
My partner and I visited Malta in January 18. The sunflower hotel is well located between the main restaurant/shopping area and the main bus station. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are what you would expect for the price. Basic but very clean and well looked after. The restaurant provides all you can eat style buffet breakfast and evening meals with the evening menu being the better value for money. They do a deal 4 meals for €9.50 each (breakfasts €7.50) and the menu does vary each night with choices from pasta dishes, soup, salads, beef, chicken, pork and of course the local dish, rabbit. Nice puddings and cheese & crackers. The indoor pool, although small is well kept and nice and warm. The roof top terrace and pool look very nice, being January a bit cold and windy but can imagine being fantastic in summer. I can recommend the hotel to anyone looking for somewhere convenient and isn’t wanting 5 star luxury. It is what it is. A high standard 3 star hotel. I have read reviews re hard beds, they are on the hard side but very comfortable and supportive. If you are looking to book I would try to get B and B then chose on the day for evening meals as there are some nice restaurants/bars on the island. Lastly the little pastizzi shops in nearly every town do fantastic pizza for €1 to €1.50.
Thanks for everything Gloria and John for all the advice. My Wife and I loved this place the penthouse room 518 and the pool Inside was just terrific. We hope to come back in a few years to visit all Malta. Finally, breakfast and lunch was pretty good all the time during our stay.
Hotel very out dated and dirty. Spent first 4 nights trying to get a nights sleep with people slamming doors and shouting in the corridors on our 5 night came back to the hotel to find cockroaches running around the hall way told the night manager and he was so blazea about it saying the hotel was fumingated on the Friday which we was at the hotel that day and no sign of any pest control any where and after my family had one late night out due to my mother's 70th birthday we get the night porter coming up to tell is to be quite . We feel as we complained about the cockroaches the night porter had a bit of a problem with us . Plus the surroundings of the hotel resembles that of a part of Baghdad. If visiting Malta stay in a resort hotel not a cheap knock off 3 star hotel like the sunflower
Definitely will come back reasonable price and very clean everyone will help you and make sure you have everything you need! Everyone spoke amazing English and treated us well, food was also ok even though I’m a fussy eater
