Was nice to stay, big apartment, kitchen with utensils, bathroom with bath, but very poor connected to Valletta - only one bus that comes about once in 30 minutes and makes a circle movement, that means it takes about 10 minutes to go there FROM Valletta but appr.40 minutes to go from there TO Valletta
Having lived in Malta I was not aware of this place. The location is very central but quiet. The rooms are big and clean, for today's standards cheap. You have a kitchenette to prepare your own breakfast as the restaurant is unfortunately closed. The pool area is quite big and well kept. It is the only one place in Malta where I woke up because of the noise of the birds.
This hotel was probably amazing in the 70's. Unfortunately it is in need of modernising. Apart from this, I couldn't really fault it. There was plenty of parking, it was clean and comfortable. Clear instructions were given to us for transport links and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I feel like previous reviews have been unfairly exaggerated. It was very cheap and I certainly had value for money.
The hotel is situated in a dark neighbourhood where there is nothing to do. The rooms were very dirty and full of cackroaches and little animals in the beds we all got scabies. Also we were the only one who stayed in the hotel it was very lonely. Also you can't eat in the hotel or neighbourhood...
My Dad and I stayed 2 nights each. Our rooms were absolutely disgusting- mine stank of mould and both rooms were absolutely boiling hot- the fans are very old and there is no air con. Beds were absolutely awful too- they must be ancient. No cushioning/ mattress to speak of- just like sleeping on a bed of rusty springs. Both of our showers leaked (a ridge around outside of the bath meant water pooled into here and then straight on to the floor). Not only was this disgusting, it also was really slippery and hazardous! My bedroom area was carpeted and lead in to the bathroom- it was no wonder to me that the room was so damp and mouldy as the water was pouring onto the carpet. Mouldy walls and everything in the rooms generally was just SO old, run down and disgusting. We were told we needed to pre-order breakfast the first morning when we went to reception so we had to go without (we arrived late the night before and were not told this). Next morning we called at 8am and asked to order breakfast, they told us that it was a bank holiday so were not providing breakfast (again- we were not pre-warned about this) Amusingl/annoyingly the man on reception acted as if it were the most ridiculous request he had ever heard when we asked! Also- a disused well outside of our rooms meant it was impossible to sit outside in the evenings due to THOUSANDS of mosquitos. It was a breeding pit for them! This meant we had to stay in the mouldy, smelly rooms as there is not even a bar to go to in the evenings. This place urgently needs modernising- stay anywhere but here until they sort it out!
This place would have once been a lovely resort. Unfortunately it has been left to run down to the extent that it is dirty, tired and needs a major renovation. We moved rooms twice before we got a half-decent room. But really, the standard overall was very poor. Thank goodness for one manager who had empathy for us and "upgraded" us. We would not stay here again unless they do a complete makeover, and that includes some of the staff. Don't be fooled by the photos on the booking sites, they don't represent the true picture today. They must have been taken a long time ago when the property was new.
If you're looking for something affordable but still with good vibes, this is the place. Sundown Court Leisure Resort has nice pools and a restaurant available everyday. Free WIFI only at the reception
The hotel is very WELL situated in a quiet area with a few sport possibilities :-). A reception is open 24 hours, staff are very friendly. The weakness of the hotel is no possibilities to buy coffee, water, etc. in the hotel.
Pool: not clean, too much people because hotel sell tickets to all ,most users local people. Hotel room: penthouse, sounds good but no air conditioning. lot of space but you can´t sleep at all, too warm in July. You can walk in Sliema but traffic is terrible, so best is to use taxi always.
Unfortunately there are 2!! And this seems to be why reviews are mixed! One is in SLIEMA and one is in KAPPARA! DO NOT go to one in KAPPARA. We are currently going through with a complaint as holiday company gave us all details for SLIEMA resort and we ended up at KAPPARA resort. A run down concentration camp sort of place, up a mountain, in the middle of nowhere with a 6 lane road to cross to get anywhere! No TV room, no breakfast or meals, no bar open most nights and pool that was full of moss and foliage looking like it was last cleaned in 1970's where the place belongs!! SLIEMA is in a totally different part of the island and IS near a harbor but the one in KAPPARA is no where near anything! BEWARE when booking. The only reason there is an ODD good review on here! The travel agents are even mixing them up!!
