Beautiful B and B. Couldn’t have enjoyed more. Alfonso was very welcoming and helpful in every way. Excellent location. Our rooms were more than acceptable. Kitchenette, WiFi, air conditioning. Breakfast in the morning
La Francesa is in a great location, walking distance to the beach and a bus stop to Malaga. Our hosts were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and what to see in Malaga. They spent quite a bit of time with us to provide directions to the locations we were interested in. Be careful to use the directions to the hotel provided on their website because google maps is incorrect.
This has been my fourth time at La Francesa Suites. It always surprises me. As usual, I feel at home: good, fresh and healthy breakfast; a nice room (I wouldn't be able to choose by myself, all the rooms are so beautiful and delicate!); a comfortable bed to have a deserved rest at the end of a busy day; and a fantastic perfumed garden, crowded by many varieties of rose trees and other scented flowers... When you visit it in the nearly morning with the fresh you feel the purity of air just in the middle of the city; when during the afternoon/evening you can lazily lay under the sun or the blossomed trees. There is also the discrete presence of the owner: always helpful, but only present if you need her, making you feel like at your own home. Calm is all around, you can't imagine civilization is so closed! But I must confess that at every visit I find something new, surprising. This time I discovered a new Solarium where to enjoy the dawn over the sea; a quite place for doing some reading, having a cup of tea or a fresh drink from the honesty bar. Definitively, La Francesa Suites is my place un Málaga. I'll come back once more, I'm afraid...
We just returned from a lovely three nights at La Francesa. The owners could not have been more attentive, and we would absolutely visit again. The room we stayed in overlooked the delightful gardens, and we had breakfast in the lovely terrace area as the weather was kind to us. It is a pleasant walk down to the town with its great selection of tapas bars and restaurants. This was exactly what we were looking for, and we hope to visit again.
My husband and I escaped the cooler weather of Glasgow to enjoy 3 nights downtime in Malaga. We did not want city or usual beach resorts and came across La Francesa via Google. What an amazing find!! We were met by a taxi organised by Ana the proprietor which was simply added to our bill. We were shown a choice of two very stylish, shabby chic rooms and we selected the south facing option overlooking the delightful gardens. Everything we needed was there. Peace, tranquility and a very comfortable bed. Beautiful walk in shower, plenty of towels, fresh water in the fridge and tea/ coffee. Breakfast was served in the hotel courtyard; fresh warm rolls, ham, tomato salsa, fresh squeezed orange juice and cafe con leche. What more could one ask for! A gentle 10 minute stroll to the district of El Palo for delicious tapas and later in the evening, fish restaurants offering scallops and the biggest langoustine I’ve seen! If you want a trip where you stay around the Spanish people, then this is for you. Go with a few words of Spanish in your arsenal; it will serve you well! We met no other Brits during our little stay and loved having a bash at my schoolgirl Spanish. We shall be back to enjoy the warm welcome and weather El Palo and La Francesa has to offer. Thank you Ana!
We had booked two double rooms at this place for 2 nights over the Easter weekend. When we arrived at 7pm - hardly the middle of the night - the gates were locked and there was no response when we pressed the bell. A guest leaving the property gave us the key code but when we got inside the grounds the reception was locked up and abandoned. No instructions, no note and all the phone numbers went unanswered. It took 40 minutes for Hotels.com to confirm that we would not be charged and we then had a mad rush to find two rooms in Malaga at a decent price. The hotel might be OK but a total lack of consideration for the inconvenience caused to guests warrants a zero rating. Avoid.
Malaga is a big place and it can be crowded and noisy, so we were looking for something a little out of town and blissfully quiet. We found it in the El Palo area just east of downtown Malaga and four short blocks up the hill from the beach. La Francesa is a lovely 4-bedroom B&B. We were delighted with the place and the owner, who was an exceedingly gracious host. Named for the French woman who used to live there, she decorated the front garden and back patio with citrus trees, roses, and fountains. One can park briefly along the estate wall to unload suitcases, but there is residential parking at the top of the rise just past the entrance. One enters on the west side of the building. Let the owner know when to expect your party and he will listen for the doorbell for when you arrive and ring. The entrance is a pretty bricked patio with potted flowers, overhanging colorful floral vines, and a charming gurgling fountain. Two umbrellas shade tables for breakfast dining and there is an indoor room for inclement weather. You will be asked if you want breakfast, which is continental, tea or coffee, juice, bread, and pieces of breakfast cake. There is also a door through the owner’s residence which leads to the front of the house to visit the gardens. We were two couples traveling together. Our friends got the La Colonial room with its own entrance on the street, and we got the La Lidia room decorated with bullfighting pictures. Both had kitchenettes, the fridge had chilled water, views of the front garden, and fresh terrycloth robes and slippers were available. The rooms were very clean and bright, the air-conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well, the bathrooms were modern with shower gel and other toiletries, we had a small terrace that overlooked the garden, the beds were comfortable, and it was quiet with only birdsong. The bus stop is just a couple blocks down on the main street, and the #3 and #11 busses for €1.30 take you into Malaga central just a short 5½ miles away. The beach boardwalk goes far both ways, and it is loaded with gelato bars, beachfront cafes with daily fresh-caught fish displayed on skewers next to small old row boats filled with sand and made into barbecues. Our favorite restaurant along the way is El Tintero at the far east end (see review). Overall, this was the perfect place for us.
Delightful place beautiful gardens a haven of tranquility. Easy bus into the City. Close to lovely beach and plenty of tapas bars. Made very welcome and cared for Will return. Highly recommended.Interesring decor comfortable nicely decorated rooms
On a recent trip for work I had the pleasure of staying at the Francesa Suites Hotel in El Palo. Aside from a marvelous location close to my office and also close to the beach, the hotel offers a great place to relax and disconnect with all the services you might need, but also the charm of a different time.
We stayed at the Francesca Suites whilst attending a wedding in the mountains. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our suite. Our room was exceptionally clean, with air conditioning, kettle, iron and hairdryer - not at all sure why this hotel is only two star. The breakfast was fabulous - a wide choice, very enjoyable with freshly squeezed oranges from the beautiful gardens. Our host organised a taxi to the wedding for us and recommended local restaurants. It is short walk to the sea in a residential area with several colleges. La Francesa Suites would make an ideal base to explore this very beautiful area and we wished we had had more time to enjoy this comfortable retreat. All in all a lovely break and we would definitely recommend to others and hope to return ourselves.
