Wanting to enjoy a cocktail or two with my girlfriends we stumbled across this unassuming rooftop bar above a hostel. Once you get to the top you will find a bar with a great vibe and inviting atmosphere. Shame we couldn't spend more time here. Only let down was the limited menu. Would definitely recommend.
I've had a great experience since the very first moment of making a reservation via email with Ina who were just adorable and helpful. If you make the reservation on the hat website or by mail, you'll get a coupon for a free beer @ the roof top. The room was very clean and the location is great and close to major plazas and subway stations.
Was in Madrid with 3 friends. The Hat has a great rooftop with good drinks and a good vibe. The location was great and very close to the subway and only a 2 minute walk to the Grand Place where there are awesome places to eat, drink, etc. Our room was perfect and the staff was great. I highly recommend.
If you're budget conscious and on the fence about this...just do it! This place far exceeds anything you might think about hostels. The location alone would give this five stars, but the breakfast, accommodations, city tour, personal map, and staff are truly unique. While mentioning the staff, I have to single out Aaron! Aaron works the front/lobby and couldn't be more caring and helpful. It seems like he was more of a host having us at his home rather than just a Hat employee. Thank you to Aaron who helped make our stay even more enjoyable. When back in Madrid, I won't hesitate to stay at The Hat!
This place has nice, clean rooms. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. They have lots of stuff you can use (bike rental/free trips/pub crawl etc) which is great. You can include cheap breakfast. Rooftop bar is a big plus. This place is right in de center of Madrid so location is also great. Overall great experience!
This was my first hostel, and though I must say I was nervous, it exceeded my expectations. The staff is helpful and nice, and the atmosphere is designed to connect solo travelers. It is very well-kept, up-to-date, and chic. I loved the art and decor. it's so close to everything--we participated in a walking tour and saw most of the popular attractions. There is a cool common area and rooftop bar. The beds are very cozy! I never felt uncomfortable. I enjoyed my stay here, but ultimately shared hostel rooms aren't my thing. I would definitely recommend the hat to others, though. The guests are overall very respectful and mature.
We spent 2 nights at the hat 🎩 perfect location. Great roof top bar, highly recommended the staff were mostly polite and friendly good breakfast rooms were clean I cannot fault this place and would return
Poor service and staff is completely not cordial, we asked few thing and was not able to solve our problems. The only good thing was the location and the building, it is very central and from the outside is very beautiful.
A wonderful hostel with hotellike feel. The hostel felt safe and staff was friendly and helpful. Interior was beautiful, very clean and the roof top bar was like a cherry on the top. Even though the hostel was crowded, it was not too noisy. I was so pleased, that I could see myself even bringing my kids here for a stay - that is much said! We had smallish rooms, but it did not bother us. The biggest downside was the wooden bed which made quite a lot of creaking sounds whilst turning in your sleep or someone climbing to the upper bunk. Overall, I would recommend the hostel and stay again! Well done, the Hat!
This is a nice and conveniently located hostel. Just a few blocks from Plaza Mayor, The Hat Madrid has a really good atmosphere, and a friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived, the guy at the reception gave us a warm welcome. As we were early for check in time, we saw that we were so tired from our trip that he offered us to take a shower. Also, we were given a map of madrid made by locals that has great recommendations of places to visit, restaurants, bars, neighborhoods, etc. I used it during my whole stay and it was really helpful. As regards the rooms and common areas, the design is really cool! They are very neat as well. However, I have to say that one restroom and shower for an 8 female dorm it's not enough for me... If you stay here, don't miss visiting the bar at the terrace. It's so nice! And paying for breakfast it's totally worth it. You will eat a lot! Also, check their website before doing the reservation: in our case, we booked our room there and got a complimentary beer we could drink at the terrace or hall. I would totally recommend this hostel!
