Good stay, Hostel is close to many things like the San Miguel market and walking distance to the metro. The staff are very good and always happy to help and the rooms are nice, clean and secure. The only reason I haven’t given a 5 is because during our stay, we noticed large numbers of young school groups and found them to be loud now and then.
hotel or hostel? they have shared rooms and double rooms and even an apartment for rental. We booked a double room but later decided to upgrade and asked the staff for help. Ina is super friendly! She made so much effort, check this and that, and finally got us the apartment. The staff were all genuinely friendly and so cool.. they are relaxed, respectful, (unlike those five stars hotel who doesn't care abit about you but asked "did you use the mini bar") Ina warmly welcomed us to the apartment and trusted us .. I asked for any rules to take note of, she was very relaxed just said "enjoy yourself!" Before this, we stayed at a four star hotel at the Gran Via, staff barely spoke English.. here at The Hat, I had this feeling of checking into a hotel downtown San Franscisco. The place has really nice decor and chill out places - rooftop, reception area, breakfast was good. Lots of healthy stuff - yogurt, fruits, juices. Location is excellent, turn a corner you're at plaza mayor, or the market hall, or the plaza del sol, .. and hence many choices of food places.
This is a wonderful place to stay in Madrid. The Location is ideal for seeing the best of Madrid. Hotel staff very welcoming and great atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent too. We very much enjoyed our stay here and recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid. Thank you for a good stay.
It was my first stay at a hostel and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. When travelling alone or group it is nice to be in a young environment. I loved the young and funky vibe the hostel has. Everything is very clean and new, the rooms are spacious and decent. The breakfast was super cheap and good. I usually stay in hotels, and I was happily surprised with my stay here. Next time when coming to Madrid with a friend I will certainly stay in The Hat rather than a hotel as it is way more fun and you get to meet people from all over.
We were staying nearby looking for a rooftop bar to enjoy in the sunshine. A lovely little bar on the 5th floor, lift access available but much quicker to take the stairs. A really quirky terrace with reasonable prices. €3.50 for a very nice glass of white wine. There’s open areas along with an enclosed area to shelter from the breeze. Very nice friendly staff.
Cozy atmosphere, neat design, rooftop bar as a plus (but there is no city view from there if you were hoping to get it). A lot of backpackers are here so the company is diverse and fun. My room was quite small for 6 beds, I would say it was too hot inside, but clean and comfortable though. Very friendly staff, thanks a lot for your help and hospitality! Uh, and they organise something every weekend, like sangria night or Indian cuisine workshop — I loved this!
Travelling on my own as a women in my 50s who last hostelled in my teens I hoped the hat was as good as it looked on line. In fact it exceeded my fairly high expectations. Great location, very stylish and well designed, really friendly. I stayed in a female 6 bedded dorm. The bed was really comfortable with its own light and socket, good quality bedding and linen. Immaculately clean. Good value eat all you want buffet breakfast for €3:50 with fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, juices, teas and coffee. Very thoughtful staff, one of the breakfast staff remembered that I was vegetarian and prepared some cheese toasties along with the cheese and ham ones handed out at breakfast especially for me after the first day. The social spaces were great places to sit and read, use the reliable free wifi or chat to other guests. Free sangria and snacks at 9pm encouraged mingling. I would definitely stay again.
The Hat is a very hip, centrally located hostel in the heart of Madrid. This is defintely the coolest, cleanest, best hostel I stayed at in all of Europe!! The staff was REALLY nice (they offered me breakfast even though I wasn't checked in, and let me switch rooms when my first one wasn't ideal because of my bunk mate.) It was really clean, the breakfast was good, the beds were comfy (only hostel ever with 2 pillows!!) and best of all, the common room offered free snacks and sangria. The tour guides and staff were all especially nice. I wish there was The Hat in every city <3
This hostel is really friendly and well located (2 min from Plaza Mayor). The hosts are great and do their best to promote events among the guests, there is a “happy hour” with sangria and tapas, pub crawls, etc. The space is well designed. Breakfast is nice for the price you pay! The only less positive aspect is that the rooms are a bit cold and the AC does not always do the trick.
I’ve been to many hostels and definitely love The Hat. I love the atmosphere, location, stuff...Also the bed is so comfortable that it’s rarely seen at hostels based on experience. Highly recommended.
