Posada del Dragón

Stayed here for a week in April. Room was small but clean with a small balcony overlooking the street. The reception area is also a bar which was often busy with guests and locals. Location was great with a plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and just a couple of minutes walking distance to Plaza Mayor. Only negative was noise from the street at night but this is to be expected when staying in this area of the city.Loved Madrid and would stay here again.

This is our second stay at the posado Del dragon and it didn't let us down. This hotel is a very quirky place but well worth a stay if you are passing through Madrid. We ate in the restaurant on our last visit and the food was excellent with a good atmosphere.

This review is for the hotel itself, not the restaurant. When you walk in, the front of the establishment is the restaurant. The hotel is built behind and above it. If you have a ground floor room, like we did, your door opens to the dining area of the restaurant. I can't speak to the other rooms above, but I can speak to the ground floor room we had. Room: Our room was dark with no windows except for a tiny side panel in a side room. The bathroom is literally part of the bedroom, it is not a separate actual bathroom, which was a strange layout that I was not a fan of. Wifi was also spotty and only worked in one corner. Cleanliness: We spent perhaps an hour taking care of all the flies/mosquitoes/misc bugs in our room. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. Yikes. Noise: Because the room opens up to the dining floor of the restaurant and is next to the kitchen, expect loudness until very, very late at night. Like 2AM. In the early morning, expect to hear the clanging of pots/pans/dishes/everything because, again, the kitchen is right next to the room and they are opening up shop. Location was good. That's probably it....truthfully can definitely find a better place with your $$$.

I stay in this hotel for two nights. Rooms are small but very cozy and clean. We sleep very well. The employees are very kind and polite. The hotel is very well located, centric to most attractions in Madrid.

Many of the reviews out there end up being more about the restaurant than the hotel itself so I hope this helps any future travelers. Yes, you check in at the corner of the restaurant's bar - so just walk on in with your stuff. Check-in is easy and you'll be lead through the first part of the restaurant to the elevator (there is also a key access door to get to upper floors). The rooms all affront an inner courtyard-very charming. They are boutique oriented and artsy. Simple amenities include mini bar, bathroom soaps, hair dryer, safe, toiletries kits and soft towels. Our room's bathroom was as you walked in, with the sink to your left and frosted glass shower and toilet. Let's be clear here: for those who like your bathroom privacy this may not work for you. Unless you get a street facing room, you'll have no windows-other rooms have frosted glass panels that face the covered courtyard, but they don't open up. The AC is there and works, but that's it for air movement. Staff are super friendly, you're offered a welcome drink upon arrival and again, like all others have said, the location can't be beat. You're in a hip, but not over touristy area. Many locals enjoyed the street as well! Wifi was very spotty-this absolutely needs improvement. It also simply seems that this is a bar first, hotel second. If you want a place to stay and don't look for hotel service or amenities, this works for you. You may have a room that can hear the restaurant downstairs (or next to you if you're ground floor). If you like to have those typical hotel options, you may be disappointed. We stayed 3 nights in early July.

We enjoyed one of our better meals in Madrid within this restored hotel. The pork with avocado was unusual and very tasty. The cod with peas and beans was equally as nice. In fact we enjoyed the meal so much, we went again before we left Madrid!

We were only in Madrid for one night so wanted to make sure we were in a location. This was a great location and made it really easy to walk around and explore. At night, the street was full or tapas bars so we went from place to place and had a drink and a snack at several of the places. Perfect! The hotel also had a really cute restaurant and bar on the main floor! The hotel itself was great. The staff was lovely. The single rooms were very small, although that wasn't a bad thing. They are compact and efficient, and since I was out exploring, I didn't need more room than what I had. The bathrooms were very nice, clean and well appointed. Great stay here, and great value for money!

This small hotel is wonderfully well located in the most interesting part of Madrid, and is in easy walking distance of most of Madrid's key attractions. The rooms are tiny but very functional, and the breakfasts are wonderful. Great staff, too. Highly recommended.

First off, the location of this property probably couldn't be much better. It's on a street jam packed with bars and restaurants, and the hotel itself is literally in a bar. We got a major kick out of checking into a hotel essentially at a bar. Definitely edit yourself some on the neighborhood bars - a lot of places that look pretty mediocre. Anyway, the hotel itself is great. Rooms were very modern, clean and quiet despite the fact that you're, seriously, in a bar. The staff were also just fantastic. Our last day, as we checked out we asked them to call us a taxi. There was a bit of a wait, and the gentleman at the front desk gave us a cafe con leche to enjoy while we waited. Sad we were only here for a short time!

My husband and I stayed at La Posada del Dragon for two nights in May 2017. We decided on this hotel for our short stay in Madrid after reading various reviews, and we found that the hotel lived up to its positive reputation. Upon arrival from the Atocha train station, we weren't sure if we had the correct address, but we walked into the restaurant and quickly realized the check-in desk was nearby. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the street, which was perfect. The location turned out to be ideal for our short visit to the city, and the restaurant downstairs is one of the most highly rated in the neighborhood (and has delicious food and drinks). We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Madrid.
