Excellent mid-range hotel, very modern, conveniently located. Very good service and rooms decorated to a high standard. There are two hotel buildings very near each other. Breakfast of good quality and varied choice. Would recommend for business or family trips.
There are pros and cons to this hotel. First the pros: The breakfast is outstanding! Many choices, with omelets made to order. Friendly wait staff at breakfast and Mimosa's included!! Lots of healthy options as well. The hotel itself is nice, set in two separate buildings on a side street off the beaten path. The rooms are fine, comfortable, nice bathroom, great shower. Now for the cons: The hotel had just switched their heating system over to heat the day we arrived so the rooms were hot and the temperature could not be adjusted. You had to sleep with the windows open which was noisy. Also, connecting areas and staircases adjacent to multiple rooms (at the back of the building) seemed a bit unsafe sleeping with windows open. The single rooms had no view and the layout of the hotel is very odd. However, the size of the room was fine, not spacious, but comfortable. Front desk staff was not overly friendly. What makes this hotel great is definitely the breakfast!
Good location in relation to Metro and bus stops. Not far from The Prado Museum and the park but provides a quiet experience. Well appointed rooms, modern, mini bar, walk-in shower, however, my room is quite small, no place for suitcase, which is not a deal breaker. There are two buildings, staying in the second one requires going to other for breakfast. The breakfast is very impressive, with everything you could possibly want, including omelettes made to order, gazpacho with a selection of toppings, gluten free selections, fresh and commercial yogurt, you can't possibly go hungry! PS! Windows open but no screens.
My university regularly books us into NH hotel and I like the hotels, I must say. This one is in a side street, not too far from the centre. I value cleanliness and a good night's sleep. The NH Zurbano has both: I really appreciated the double windows. Two double-paned windows totally shut out the sound from the street and the hotel is in a fairly old building and thus noises from the other rooms are cut to a minimum. I have a feeling the breakfast in this NH is even better in the others. Loads of choice. What I really don't get about the NH chain is that they have the absolute best coffee machines (Jura) and put very average coffee in it. And Spain has some really good coffee!
NH Hotels are always well appointed, clean, and well located; but the one thing that makes these hotels outstanding, is their people. Always friendly and ready to help. From Mr. Juan at the door, to the front desk, to each of the nice waiters at the restaurants...all of them always go the extra mile. Several metro stations are within walking distance. Perfect!
Stayed at the Zurbano for a long weekend visiting friends locally. Slightly off the beaten track but close to metro, so great for getting around and lots of bars and restaurants close by to keep you entertained in the evening. It's close to the commercial district and as we expected there seemed to be a few small seminars going on in the hotel during our stay but never too busy. Top tip, skip the breakfast at nearly 19 euros there's some nice little Coffee shops offering much better value within a few minutes walk.
I' ve been there several times, not a single complaint! Position is very good near to the métro and in a nice and neat borough. Breakfast is just great with an high quality buffet at a very affordable price, and the waiters and waitresses are extremely kind and more than happy to help the customer. Big ten overall!
Very nice hotel with friendly staff. I asked for something on a high floor & we were given a top floor room with a huge balcony & double sink vanity at no extra charge. The breakfasts were delicious, with an extensive variety of choices. Beds & pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious & we loved the robe & slippers. The only reason I gave it 4 stars on sleep quality was due to the noise from the residents on the weekend. They like to party on their balconies until 2AM, so bring your ear plugs! We’d highly recommend this hotel.
It's a good hotel, and it's in a very central spot. Quiet because it's down a side-street, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was fine - sometimes the NH style is a bit gloomy - and they could use better lighting, but it's a minor complaint. The breakfast place is in a separate building, which is slightly annoying if you've got your slippers on (joke) but the breakfast is very good. Solid NH hotel. Absolutely fine.
This small hotel is very clean with spacious rooms. It is situated on a nice, quiet street in the business part of this lovely city. It is a couple of minutes away from the metro station, Gregorio Marañon. It is a bit cut off from the centre and having to catch 2 tubes at the metro makes it a bit of a hassle though. However, we used to look forward to the delicious, home made but professionally prepared breakfast that offered a variety of foods on the buffet table. The staff waiting on us at the dining area were very nice and professional in their work. Our thanks go to Carlos, Violetta and Ezequiel who always greeted us with a smile. Recepition staff would do better to be more fluent in English and smile more. We found Jorge, Juan and Elsa, to be very helpful though. All in all, if we were to visit Madrid again we would look for an NH Hotel that is closer to the centre.
