Rooms and building are very nice. But it is very far from Madrid. And there is no free breakfast, which I would expect when paying $130+ per night. Also the beds were 2 twins rather than 1 queen, and extremely low quality for such an expensive hotel. The rooms were super fancy but the beds had cheap, uncomfortable mattresses and very poor quality sheets.
Beautiful parador in a historical city next to the corral de comedias during Clásicos de Alcalá.
The hotel rooms are nice, but managing how to get the right amount of light where you want it is awkward, given the preset "settings" for light. In particular, low light or light only in the bathroom. Complicated is also the word for lowering the shades, internet, the shower, etc, it requires a lot of reading up on instructions before you decide to tackle those "complicated" tasks. The hotel is in a nice area and comfortable, but feels too impersonal in its vast expanses of nothingness.
Parador De Alcala places you next to Torre de Santa Maria and Colegio de San Ildefonso. This 4-star hotel has 128 rooms and welcomes guests with 2 restaurants, a full-service spa, and an outdoor pool.
Enjoy dining at Santo Tomas, one of 2 onsite restaurants. Order from room service to satisfy your hunger without leaving your room, or explore the hotel and get a beverage at the bar/lounge or coffee shop/café. Continental breakfast is offered for a fee each morning from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
The 128 accommodations feature dining areas. Flat-screen TVs come with satellite channels and pay movies, and guests can stay connected with free WiFi. Bathrooms offer hair dryers and free toiletries, and beds sport pillow menus. Minibars, free newspapers, and safes are also standard.
At Parador De Alcala, guests enjoy a full-service spa, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center. Self parking is available for EUR 14 per night. The 24-hour front desk has multilingual staff ready to assist with tours or tickets, dry cleaning/laundry, and securing valuables. Other amenities at this spa hotel include a spa tub, a rooftop terrace, and free WiFi in public areas.
