We had a quick one night stay. The room was fantastic, very clean and well presented. The beds were comfortable with the best selection of pillows. The shower was amazing. Staff were friendly. I highly recommend a stay here. Great locations for sight seeing
I stayed at this hotel for the first time because I had business in the area. I was a given a great discount online so I took it. The building is really pretty and my room, even though was located downstairs was sunny — it faced an inside patio. The staff was really pleasant and helpful, and I was always greeted with a smile on their parts. I assume my room was the cheapest, but it was spacious and clean. The only qualm I had was with the AC: I felt it didn't cool the room fast enough for my taste. Maybe it just me — I'm always hot! The location is perfect: central, but quiet, away from all the noise of downtown Madrid. In any case, I will most definitely come back if I find another one of those deals online.
great hotel, functional, nice design located in very upmarket area, near museums, parks and a great Tapas bar 50 m away called ANEL Had a quiet room at the back, nice rain shower and comfortable bed for around 100 euros per night. for the breakfast go to ANEL which has the toasted bread with tomato and olive oil for 2.50 euros,,,,,and excellent light tortilla...
We stayed in a Deluxe Premium Room for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is perfect and the building is beautiful, the room was very spacious and I would like to highlight the gorgeous bath in the corridor. We were promised to have some extra amenities which were not in the room but they apologized giving us a little bottle of cava. We also requested a double bed and we got two singles pushed together, that was the most disappointing, together with arriving quite tired at 3pm after walking all morning and finding out that the room was not made. One day we ordered food from outside and the delivery guy came directly to our room, they should have gave us a call first due to obvious security reasons. Last inconvenient issue is that this hotel does not have a parking and the closest one is quite pricey. Anyway we would give happy to give them another chance hoping that the staff is better trained next time.
I loved this hotel, couldn't fault it, except that the room decor was a tiny bit tired but that's being picky. Fantastic shower, enormous comfortable bed, interesting art everywhere. Quite a large room (105) with no outside noise whatsoever. The staff were pleasant and helpful, I liked their uniforms, denim shirts with a bow tie, girls too. Everywhere attention to how things look. Situated close to the galleries, a vast park and the airport bus.
The first thing this hotel needs to sort out is the address given; the hotel is NOT in Recoltos, it is at Calle Salustiano Olozaga. Having given the taxi driver the address in Recoltos, it wasn't a surprise when he delivered us some distance from the hotel, in fact to another hotel. A walk with luggage through the street in the middle of the night is not my idea of fun. The hotel works hard at being 'arty' and that may or may not appeal. The room was small and faced an inner well. The building is pleasantly old, but with the lack of sound insulation that can make one unpleasantly aware of other guests visits to their bathrooms. The worst feature as far as I was concerned was the designer had decided matching the doors of the roomy shower and that of the tiny lavatory opposite was the main aim. So both were loosely fitting frosted glass with no locks and no privacy. Mistake. As I have said, the shower is a great size, and the Grohe fittings raised expectations that bathing at least would be an enjoyable experience, even if using the lavatory was not. However, the plumbing appears to be one in which all rooms share the water supply. This at least is my guess as to the cause of water emerging from the gigantic shower head at temperatures that ranged between the Arctic and the dangerously hot. (It is also the justification for the amusing title of this review.) Eventually we gave up on the shower and used the handheld spray in order to avoid freezing or scorching, (if one acted quickly). The shower door, like the lavatory door, is, as previously mentioned, loose fitting with a plastic strip to keep the water in the shower and out of the room. That was not effective. Bathroom supplies included one small bottle of shampoo for two people, which was not replenished for our second day, and no hair conditioner, however there was a free razor. The staff that we met were universally friendly. We didn't have breakfast as the price seemed high, especially as other reviews were not complimentary. Additionally, whenever we visited the small bar/breakfast room, there was nobody there - either guests or staff. The hotel offers a taxi service to the airport for 35€. It may be worth your while to know that the city caps taxi fares between the airport and the city of Madrid at 30€, so you may prefer to get your own. The hotel is right to stress its convenience - it is very close to the city centre and various museums and galleries. We got a deal rate which made it more attractive than it would have been at the listed rate. I am not sure that I would agree it is a 4 star hotel, honestly I think 3 stars would have been a more accurate assessment.
Other than a good location this hotel is overrated. Room walls were dirty. Bathroom lacks of certain privacy. If you're a foreigner forget the TV, only Spanish channels. Asked for a full bed, got two twins. Booked an executive room, but had nothing to do with executive not with the picture of it. For a little bit more you can stay at better places.
Tais is an excellent hotel well located near the park Retiro, where you will go for a run in the morning.... The room are very well and the bathroom are big. The breakfast could be better organized with more resources when you have a lot of guest. But the quality of the breakfast is really great! So if you need to stay for business, choose this hotel, the train station recoletos is direct to the airport, this is perfect!
Great rooms with plenty of natural light . Well thought out layout . Rate was reasonable . Didn't need the F and B . Biggest plus is its fantastic location and it is uniquely quiet in a side street . Will definitely stay again
Nice artsy hotel in a central and neat area just north of retiro park. Room: We had an executive double room on the fourth floor. Friendly interior; modern but calm with light colors. It seems new despite some cracks in the sink and scratches on the walls. Our room was facing the inner courtyard. So we had fresh air and sun (in the morning) and it was really quiet at the same time. However, I expect the rooms on the lower floors to be a lot darker and smaller. Bathroom: Small open layout bathroom; which means there is only a light glass door separating the toilet from the rest of the room! I did not like that there was not much space to put your cosmetic bag; and virtually NO space or hook to put your towel on. However, the shower is great: really large, with handle and rainshower, and has the highest water pressure I ever experienced in a hotel. Breakfast: Very friendly staff during breakfast! Breakfast is not provided as buffet but at the table; includes bread with spread, cheese, ham, freshly prepared scrambled eggs, fruits, sweet pastries, juice and coffee - for 12€ per Person. Security? Two days after check-in, I asked for a second key card, and the lady just gave it to me - without even asking for my name or ID. Even when I asked whether she needed my ID - she said no. Moreover, generally anybody can just bypass the reception desk and go to the rooms without even being seen (due to the layout of the entrance area). Overall, I would definitely book it again due to the location and the value-for-money!
