My wife and i stayed here for a family conference that totaled over 200 people. The hotel staff was very well organized and very good at their customer service. I have been involved with many hotels in the States & some around the world and they are a top notch hotel. The meeting rooms were well equipped & the staff did an excellent job handling hospitality during our break times. The auditorium was first rate. They also do a great job of feeding a large group by offering many different rooms for dining. The hotel doctor was kept busy with the flu/sinus problems that were going around but his office did a great job of addressing our medical needs. Kuddos to the entire staff - you did a great job with our meeting. Our room was the basic room which was a bit small but it was very modern & well-equipped. I really loved the walk-in rain shower.

The Melia Castilla is a nice hotel with good facilities and a great breakfast set up along with a good location in Madrid. The floor we stayed on was old and tired and needed refurbishment. We found it easy to hop on the train and in a few stations be in the heart of Madrid.

All good except attitude of staff. Music far too loud, extremely loud, in breakfast area and while I was the only person there, my reasonable request for it to be lowered, was met with an aggressive, "no". Later spoke to hotel GM who appeared to handle the issue. I did not use the facility for the rest of my stay, so can't confirm. Voted with my wallet, and ate locally. Location suited us well due to family visit. Other than above (and one would hope exceptional) unpleasant experience, would recommend. Will return.

Massive hotel with bars and restaurants. I stayed on The Level on 15th floor with it's own reception and bar area where you can also have breakfast. Rooms are a good size with a drench shower and free toiletries.

The service was good and friendly; rooms are well appointed with everything needed and nicely decorated, so although they are not very large, they show a concern for travellers' needs. There are, of course, things that could improve. For example, there are kettles and tea bags, which is nice and thoughtful. But teabags do not get replaced throughout a guest's stay - how much can they save from replacing teabags, I wonder? No coffee maker, so if instant coffee isn't your thing, you're better off going to the café downstairs. The sunday breakfast / brunch was good enough (not extraordinary), good value if you request it in advance. Beds are comfortable and there is a nice choice of pillows. Rooms are well isolated from street noise, and the bathroom, although on the small side, is well designed and functional, with a great shower. Good internet, very helpful staff if there are problems making it work on a specific computer. The hotel itself is large, businesslike and functional.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a conference. I would highly recommend this hotel - my room was very modern, spacious, warm and light / airy. Lots of mirrors in the bathroom (!). The buffet breakfast was first class with a lot of choices to choose from and it is one of the highlights of my stay. All the staff were very helpful. The hotel is located within 20mins from Madrid airport which is very handy. Access to public transport is also great as the metro (underground) station is just 5 mins walk from the hotel - Plaza de Castilla. If you have a few hours to spare, just take the Metro Line 1 from Plaza de Castilla to Sol (about 20mins journey) which will take you right into the centre of Madrid. It just cost 1.80 Euro each way. Maps and directions are easily obtained from the hotel staff who were extremely helpful. Overall, I had a lovely stay in the hotel and the conference facilities was also first class. Would be happy to visit again with my family the next time !

Huge business hotel probably built seventies last century. Large and very luxurious in that time now ruined in many ways by passing years. Rooms are average in size and furniture with styling that will not make anybody happy. But bed is very very comfortable and offers good night sleep. Bathroom is old school and could be renovated but basicly very functionable. And I enjoyed my stay mostly due to a very nice and polite staff. All in all if not beeing architect or fashion designer guest will enjoy stay here very much. Pleasant and comfortable.

It is a usual trap: good reviews mainly from the satisfied customers who got the renovated rooms and some, random negative reviews which you ignore as exceptions. Don’t fall for this! Melia Castilla is a large hotel where you gamble between a nice room and a horrible outdated one. As you can guess, my experience was the latter - room 1444, floor 14 please AVOID. Terrible quality of an old room and worn out furniture, plenty of dirt, dust and various nasty marks on the walls, bedding and floor. At this price range, it is a pure rip off and a disgrace. Shame on you Melia Castilla. Thanks, but no thanks again.

This was our first time traveling to spain, we made it our destination and we read the reviews carefully. This hotel is big and in a decent location and very important for those of you, the public transportation is good if not Great .Busses run every few minutes and metro-bus(train) as well. DO NOT EVEN TAKE A TAXI “WILL BE EXPENSIVE” Just grab a map and explore Back to the Hotel: Get them to pick you up from the hotel Checking in took a few minutes, nothing big. Lobby looked modern and spotless Our Room was ok other than the view from our window was terrible. Rooms is outdated, small tv. Wifi worked well (hotel) Checking out “must read” We had an issue with our pick up at the hotel. Our driver showed up to pick us up, and for some reason front desk told him we had left. But in reality we were waiting in the lobby, still at the hotel. When my wife confronted the person in the responsible. He became rude and we got stuck waiting for someone to pick us up “Just make sure to be alert in the lobby if someone picking you up. ‘Cause apparently front desk they do this occasionally without asking the guests. And for this issue i give them 3 out of 5 But spain is a beautiful place we’ll be there soon. Not this hotel, somewhere closer But enjoy your stay in España.

Hi Actually it’s a nice old and fine located hotel. It’s my regular. However there has past months been a strong smell of paint in many rooms. “Best” option is to stay in non renovated rooms. Hotel normally manage to rebook you. Be however critical
