Mercure Madrid Plaza de Espana

Good location (just off plaza de espana), good housekeeping and comfortable bed. That it is for the positive points. On the negative side : room poorly designed and lacked style, noisy doors, room with very poor view, unexperienced check in and the feeling to hang around a youth hostel rather than a 4 star hotel. Although our experience was far from being disastrous, I would not recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed this newly renovated hotel near the Plaza de Espagna with all tranport options. The shopping area is nereby, aalso good proximity to restaurants. It has nice facilities, with clean rooms, friendly staff and a decent breakfast.

The hotel has a gr8 location, few ninutes walk to Plaza de Espana metro. Lot of the sights and restaurants are a walking distance from the hotel. The room was very clean and modern. The bed could've been better. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Among a Accor hotels chain , the mercure is an upscale good , well established and recently renovated hotel in a good location . Some may complain about the location but I feel it’s perfectly both close to and away from all the hustle and bustle of Gran Via . Courteous staff , really helpful . Rooms are upto date modernised with bluetooth speaker connectivity too ( in case you’d like to hear your own music ). We had an urgent need to extend our stay for more than 6 hours and they let us do so at a minimal cost . However being an Accor Group hotel , I would have expected a larger more diverse spread for breakfast as travellers usually look to have a good breakfast . All in all loved the experience at Mercure . Should I find my way back to Madrid I’d choose mercure over other places !! Cheers

Great hotel; modern, clean, bright with very friendly staff and great coffee at breakfast. Just a short walk to the stop of the open top bus which we used to get our bearings on the city. The eatery on the ground floor is an added plus... Overall very pleasant.

This was my fourth visit to this nice Mercure hotel. It has been recently renovated with style and everything is now in a good order. My room in the sixth floor was spacious, clean and very comfortable with a terrace. The bed and the bathroom were excellent and I spent 5 comfortable days there.Breakfast was simple but delicious. Of course the staff was also very professional and helpful. Thanks for them.

At the time we were staying in the hotel, it was being updated. They did a pretty good job as it wasn't too disturbing. The rooms were nice and modern. The breakfast was pretty good and the service was above average.

Madrid is an amazing city its my 3rd time in Madrid always different hotels, this time Mercure Plaza Espana. the hotel has amazing rooms and they are big compared to other hotels in the city, but when it comes to breakfast it is a disaster, the breakfast seems to be handled by the bar ***** (outsourced) it seems like that. the staff are unhelpful the food variety doesn't meet the hotel name. I recommend Mercure Plaza Espana to visit Mercure Bilbao Jardines De Albia and see how elegant it is when it comes to the lobby, rooms, bar and breakfast make it a benchmark and innovate don't imitate.

This is a nice new hotel, clean, modern and reasonably charged. However, I find the hotel a bit on the far end of the attractions and shopping area. Which means when you are done with your shopping or viewing of attractions, you have to walk all the way back the repeated route every day. Of course, this can be solved by taking the rather complicated subway especially for tourists like me who know little Spanish or get in a cab with a bad rush hours traffic in Madrid. All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you have checked the location. All the rest are of a very good standard. Mind you, one could hear the banging of the noise from the next rooms so if noise is an issue for you, maybe you should also reconsider.

Had a great time at this hotel. Location is amazing right in the heart of the city with everything at a walking distance. Many restaurants and pubs are just across the street. Had a lovely time here. We were four couples and were there for two nights in July'17
