Travelling with my daughter we had a superb stay in this hotel. Loved the 360 sky bar and the glass bridge. Breakfast was fab with lots of choice. Could not fault it at all and felt privileged to stay there. Well done Riu
I arrived on a Tuesday evening at around 11pm. I was told at reception that my room had been given away because I didn't arrive on Monday (which I was never intending to), there is no room available and I could look on Booking.com if there was anything else in the area. All this with an arrogant grin on his face! Colleagues of mine had their rooms cancelled as well without reason. I got a room upgrade as compensation for the error they had made. The upgraded room really was nothing special. The atmosphere in the hotel is horrible: staff is unfriendly and uninformed. Q: "Which floor for Room XXX, please?" R: "Don't know." I was part of a company meeting with at least 500 individuals, most of whom stayed at this hotel. Everyone of our group who I talked to disliked the hotel. I have stayed in Madrid many times: don't make the mistake of staying here. The only reason I am not giving it 1 star is that the room was quiet and had a nice balcony.
There might be better Hotels than this one, but This RIU location must be in the top five for the money. We love it for these reasons: great location, walking distance to most places to visit in Madrid. Hotel is either brand new or renovated, everything in tip top shape. Room and bed very comfortable ( got the king size). The 360 roof top bar is one of the best I have seen in the world with spectacular views of this beautiful city. Buffet breakfast is excellent not to say amazing. After such copious meal, we were good to have tapas late in the afternoon that serve us as dinner. With all of this, very reasonable pricing. The only possible critique is that the door to the room is not well sound proof, so you do hear some noise in the hallway. But we were on the 21st floor with low traffic so it was not a big deal. Definitely will go back.
Very good visit to this hotel and the location is also very good. Hotel is spotless clean and the rooms are very clean and smart. Only one complaint would be breakfast. Very very very busy and no control people bumping into you everywhere you walk nearly smashing your morning coffee out of your hand and the lack of replenished breakfast is slow. I don’t think this is down to the staff I just think it’s down to the lack of the staff. All seem very rushed off their feet and have too Much to do. Considering our visit was not in peak time I dread to think how busy this hotel could get. Apart from that everything else is really nice. Use the metro service it will save you a lot of money and time to go visiting.
Good hotel, good location (metro Plaza de Espana around the corner), great room with a magnificent view (20th floor) overlooking the Royal Palace and more. Fantastic 360 topfloor with bar and seats. Breakfast was good. When it is crowded it can take a while before you can take the lift. The room was good and spacey. Unfortunately there were no slippers and bathrobes. There was also no bottle of water upon arrival. They do offer coffee and tea on the room. We had a balcony/terrace. With the door open it is quite noisy from the cars and buses from the street. We had a great stay overall.
I am staying in the hotel for 2 days.Arrived for very important business meeting on my birthday October 30th and I have to stay for 2 days because of the flights. The hotel has very good location- in the heart of Madrid. The rooms are spacious, well equiped the bed & pillows - amazing &coffe &tea into the rooms ,very comfortable but I have some remarks- there is no body lotion in the bathroom and it's 4 stars hotel btw... If you want to have dinner at the hotel without going out it's implosible-there is no restaurant for dinner just snaks at 26 &27 floor. On my arriving I have filled some online forms which I recieved on my email so that to be part of Riu Plaza Hotels worldwide with some instruction and benefits if I want to be part of this family- discounts for the hotels of the Riu Plaza worldwide, birthday gifts etc.Today is October 31st and I am still waiting for my surprise for my birthday which was yesterday. Except these small details that are as bugs the hotel is amazig and I highly recommend it.The rooftop is so romantic day and night and the stuff is very friendly. The breakfast is ...I am travelling a lot, no stop, but what I saw for breakfast was beyond my expectation. I eat very little but the variety of food the hotel is offering for the guests is amazing.I can not number the variety of dishes but they are many-what you wish for is there. There is small details to be settled and the hotel is going to be perfect without remarks:-)
A very modern and superbly kept hotel in a great location in Madrid. We loved everything about this hotel and the 360 sky bar is the cherry on the cake. Although it can be quite busy and you wait a while for a drink the views across Madrid day or night are really a must. We liked the fact you could only use the lifts with your room key which added a sense of modern security knowing that so many people visit the hotel to go up to the sky bar. Our room was on the 17th floor and offered great views which were unfortunately let down by some works that were taking place outside. Despite this whenever we were in the room we found ourselves at the window taking in the views of Madrid. The room itself was very clean and modern, the only negative was at night the small time we spent in the room was that we couldn’t find a tv channel in English other than the news but this wasn’t too big a deal. The breakfast offer was fantastic and there really couldn’t be anything more on offer to guests, although it was always busy it was easy enough to be seated at a table. This hotel capped off an amazing few days in Madrid and would be our first choice of stay if we were to visit again. Lastly as it was my girlfriends birthday the complimentary bottle of red that was left in our room was an amazing touch to an already great stay.
in a very good location good facilities with access to top floor with a great view on Madrid. big rooms well equipped reach breakfast those who plan to visit Madrid, consider this hotel with good value for money
This is the first negative review I have ever been compelled to write. This hotel is very new but completely devoid of character. Check in was a nightmare and took a good 30mins in the tiny foyer. When we eventually checked in we got to our room which had a window that seemed to look into a stairwell (hard to tell as it didn’t really open). No natural light in the room at all or fresh air. Which became particularly problematic as the air conditioning has been switched off already despite the very warm weather which we only found out after queuing (again!) at reception to tell them it wasn’t working. On two of the nights there was some random banging that was so loud that it shook the bathroom and went on for a good 20mins. Reception were very confused about what it could be when I called and said it could be the air conditioning, odd when we had earlier been told it had been turned off! Very strange floor means the whole hotel feels cold and echoey. Not comfortable in bare feet at all and I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Breakfast food was good, and staff helpful, but again feels so corporate and cold. No care has been put in to the design of this hotel. Long waits for the lifts that don’t seem to come and oddly times you are crammed in to stairwells but other areas of the hotel overly large and empty. Overall a very strange experience and we absolutely would not stay in a Rui hotel again. Madrid is an amazing city that we loved. I’d urge you to stay somewhere else and enjoy it.
We stayed for 1 night in this outstanding hotel. The hotel is conveniently located next to the subway station plaza espana. The check in was smooth. The room was clean, modern, comfortable with an amazing view. You must visit their skydeck on the 27th floor to get a panoramic view of Madrid. The breakfast was included in the stay and was great with lots of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. The breakfast was a buffet one at the 4th floor restaurant. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid. You could walk to all the attractions.
