We very much enjoyed our recent stay at the Hospes in Madrid. The location of the hotel is just perfect, located at the Puerta de Alcala just across from the entrance to the Retiro Park and a 10 minute walk to the Prado. While our room was on the small side, it was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly in the hundred degree Madrid summer heat. The bathroom was commodious and had an excellent rain shower head. Staff was very helpful, especially when we arrived at the hotel by rental car. They came around the block and assisted with our bags and then drew us a map to the In-town Hertz rental return at the Atocha train station.
If your staying in Madrid for business, pleasure or shopping, you will never find a better place or location. Excellent Staff great rooms everything you need for a 5 star stay you'll get at this place. My absolute favorite Madrid Hotel
The people of Madrid just seem to be some of the friendliest and most welcoming we've met. This was true also of the staff of Hotel Hospes Puerta de Alcala. It was probably one of the biggest hotels we stayed in in our month in Spain. We were welcomed with an upgrade to a very spacious room, which was great as we were staying a little longer in Madrid. The hotel restaurant is excellent - it seems to attract locals also, not just hotel traffic - which I think is always a good sign. Madrid is more expensive than other Spanish cities (we found) so expect to pay more everywhere. The location of the Hotel was great - we were quite over seeing "monuments" so being on Plaza Independencia allowed us to walk around beautiful parks/garden and wander the old city. Wifi works well, and although we had a few problems getting the key to work (perhaps user error) we really didn't mind leaving it at reception - we always found we could get it easily enough. I would definitely stay again, and was impressed enough that we would also stay at other hotels within this group - hopefully they'll be just as good.
From start to finish our stay was fantastic. They helped us navigate the city and really made the stay interesting and great. Our room was very nice and clean. The old school key was not a problem for us as we just left it at the desk when we headed out.
I had visited the hotel 6 years ago and now decided to stay for one night with my mother coming back from work in London. I was happy with this decision. The room was impeccable, not one sign of tiredness, the high ceilings, the wooden floors, the ,marble bath and wonderful shower. Our room overlooked a private courtyard so it was very quiet. Loved the location on Puerta de Alcala! but again, it is the people who really make a place special. In this case it was wonderful ILIA, who showed us 3 different rooms at the booking process and also welcomed us as family on our check in day. It is hard to find such genuine and service oriented people! GRACIAS Ilia for all your help and friendliness. Well done Hotel Hospes for keeping great staff!
From the moment we arrived at this hotel the service was second to none. We were given a room on the top floor at the back of the hotel with no view but away from the hustle of the main drag and got a great nights sleep. Iilia was the perfect host and we were given a welcome glass of wine each and there was nothing that was too much trouble, perfect location with the hop on hop off bus right outside the hotel. The park across the round about is just amazing. Next time we are in Madrid the WILL be where we stay without question.
This hotel might look good in appearance (decoration) but it pretends to be something it's not. It has the most inefficient staff that takes hours to check you in and out. They promise upgrades you don't need while making you wait, instead of having your room ready when you need it (isn't that 4-5 stars?). The rooms are nice but the door locks are confusing and in bad conditions, plus the keys are a big "ball and chain" to carry around. I'm not leaving the key at reception...what century are we in? Restaurant staff is rude and care more about appearances than serving food. They even charged me more at the hotel as they had a really inefficient system for checkout, which couldn't be solved in time so I could leave when I had to leave with my bill ok. I would never go back. Been there two times. The second time I remembered why I hated it the first time. Really, hotels and service are really low quality these days, Anyone states themselves as 4-5 stars. Who is watching the customer, its debit card and its personal items?
Another good stay at the Hospes Madrid, this time for my partner’s birthday. The hotel staff were as friendly and helpful as ever and really made an effort to make our stay and my partner’s birthday special. We had a duplex room which was very nice, only issue was the hanging space, it was very small under the stairs and I had a few long dresses that I had to hang on the curtain rail instead! This is probably my fifth/sixth visit to Madrid – and although I am slightly tempted to try somewhere else next time just for a change, I would not want to be disappointed because the Hospes hotel and it’s staff is so wonderful and in such a great location. I am looking at a stay in Mallorca soon though and I am researching the Hospes there currently. Thank you!
The best review I can give is this is a repeat stay at Hospes Puerto de Alcala. I truly love this hotel for many many reasons. It has a special feel to it, and ALL of the guys who work at the front desk, are like old friends and everything is done with class, speed, and style. It would be difficult to mention one name; ALL of them work closely as a team to ensure a delightful stay. We stayed in a deluxe Alacala room on the 3rd floor and I requested the exact same as last time and it was granted. The room has a upmarket, romantic feel and very comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and the view out the large doors on the street made it feel just right. The room was also spotlessly clean and really nice bath products. The team also helped me with per-arrival dinner reservations at some of the more popular restaurants. I also want to say the breakfast was also excellent and the staff was very attentive. And finally, the location is perfect. In a very nice neighborhood, and is across the street from the Retiro, 5 minutes walk to the Prado, and about 12 minutes to Puerta de Sol. I highly recommend this hotel. It is a hotel I will return to again and again each time I am in Madrid. Thank you again and see you again soon !
My wife and I had a fantastic 3 night stay here. It is very centrally located. The service at the hotel was great - Julio at the front desk was exceptional. Really anyone we dealt with was very pleasant to work with. Rooms are really nice and very quiet. Highly recommend.
