This hotel is terrible, the washroom is all mouldy and there are bugs in the washroom. The walls and ceiling can't block off any sound. I can hear a regular conversation in the room next door and walking on the floor above. The safety deposit box didn't work on the first night and it's still not fully working. It errors out 2-3 times before closing. I have 2 more nights in this hotel and I would not recommend this to anyone. Don't stay here and if you have to stay make sure it's not room 302.
Nothing to complain about. Good price and a great location. The hotel is a bit old and needs renovation. Close to everything in Madrid. The La Latina area is right outside the hotel. Perfect place for lunch and dinner.
It is rare when I travel in Spain with my partner to get anything other than twin beds. Therefore when traveling with a friend and specifying 'twin beds' on the booking you assume there will not be a problem. Never assume. With rooms at a premium throughout the city on cup final weekend, you do not want the awkward situation of a double bed in the room. Result? Complaint fobbed off, suggestion of discount ignored and one person alternating between the chair and the floor. Apart from that, the rooms were tired. The bed seemed quite old, the table in the room was scruffy and the shower lukewarm. Anything above £50 per night is too much for here.
This is a basic nice hotel. We choose it for a family trip (8 brothers and sisters) and enjoy our stay. Front desk staff is friendly, knows every thing you might need, including how to set up the cel phone for the wifi, which by the way also works fine. Breakfast at the restaurant is fine, they do their best with minimum staff, specially when a large group as we were comes to order several different dishes. There are many nice restaurants around and the HopOnHopOff can be taken near by (at 150 meters)
Jose Carlos is worth his weight in gold but is let down by the management. The rooms are clean but tired, our shower gave up, and there was no way the hotel staff could help as the place was full. The location is great, and the view from the roof is pretty good too
My husband and I stayed at HRC Hotel for a wonderful four nights last week and really enjoyed our stay. It location is perfect to take in all of Madrid sights and not too far from the Metro station... But what made our stay so special was Jose Carlos Monroy, The best receptionist ever! He made us feel so welcome and special. This hotel is so lucky to have him in their company. Thank you so much for your excellent customer service. We will definitely stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Madrid...
Stayed there for 2 nights, our room was small, with awful interior view, not very well isolated from temperature and noise. All pretty basic, but very clean. The location is awesome, walking distance from all. The staff, especially Jose carlos, was very attentive and a very nice surprise. The price is pretty inflated for a basic hotel and that's the reason for lowering the rate of this review.
This is an average hotel in a quiet area in Madrid but very close to the main attractions. The hotel is like 70s and the rooms have been slightly updated. Bathroom gives a funny smell. The location IMO is very good. It is really near the main sights (max 10-15 min walking) in a very quiet and nice residential neighbourhood. The main drawback is that the closest metro or Cercanías station is a 10 minutes walking, so not great if you have heavy luggage and plan to rely on public mass transportation. The best thing are the South-facing rooms in the 5th floor with terrace, with views of the city. Great on a sunny Spanish day. Staff is very hit or miss. Other than a very nice older guy at the counter and a youngish guy who was OK, the rest did not seem very friendly. Breakfast room did not seem very exciting; I would not take it (plenty of "cafeterias" in this area!) Overall it is perfectly fine if you get a good fare, plan to stay and move around most of the day (and ask for the 5th floor South facing rooms :) ) and you like to sleep in a "quiet" neighbourhood a bit away from all the buzz and noise of Central Madrid.
Generally, the hotel itself is fine. It's location is very good; near the restaurants, shops and bus stations (you can also get to hop-on-hop-off busses there). We were lucky to get the room on the 5th floor with terrace and amazing view of the city. However, the best thing that happened to us in Madrid, was that Jose Carlos Monroy (he works at the reception of HRC hotel) made us feel like we came to our best friend's home for a stay. We travel a lot and i have to admit, that the service of Jose Carlos is the best we've seen so far. He helped us so much with his advices about transportation, what to see, what to eat, how to spend less and etc. We didn't have to worry much about anything, since Jose Carlos was able to consult and help us with everything. Thus, he saved us lots of time, made us feel very special and took a great care of us. We noticed, that all other guests also enjoyed his company and help. Frankly speaking, if not Jose Carlos- our rating of the hotel would not be that high. So if you plan to stay in this Hotel - make sure you get to meet Jose Carlos, since he will help you save your time & money and will take a good care of you.
its a small but convenient hotel. The entrance lobby is not that great and gives you a service appt feel. not a very good first impression. the rooms however are much better. sound proofing of the windows is good.. our room had a nice view of the city.. the only con i felt was that the bed was too soft for my liking.. the other reviews suggested not to have breakfast in the hotel so we made a room only reservation. there are a lot of nice cafes within 400m radius so that was good for us. overall it was worth the price..
