AC Hotel Atocha by Marriott4.0 out of 5.0

Used this Hotel as a base for day trips by train as it is a 10 minute walk to Atocha train station. This train station is for intercity trains, commuter trains and subway (we never used the subway). There are a couple of restaurants close to the Hotel however we tended to visit ones across from the Train station. Hotel is modern, rooms layout is a little different (glass shower in the middle of the room) room is outfitted with "modules" for storing/hanging clothes. Breakfast is OK with all of the basics that you will want (fruit, juice, cheese, bread for toasting and serrano ham etc). (Cold cereal more suitable for kids) Walkable to Parque de El Retiro, Puerta de Sol, Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real de Madrid (45 minutes) Fitness room is small with 3 pieces of equipment
The location is great because it is near the train station. The staff are nice. From the reception to the restaurant. Everyone was helpful. The bed and bedding are clean and comfortable. There are no coffee and tea making facilities. But there is a refrigerator. The air conditioning works well. The toiletries are adequate. Good quality. My complaint is that the toilet has poor ventilation. The shower enclosure is made of glass and is visible from the bedroom. This is nice for erotic fetishes. Or if one has a nice physique. But it's terrible for families. Or for anyone who does not like to be an exhibitionist. I may not stay here again because everything was perfect but I am uncomfortable taking a shower if I'm not alone.
1st time to try out AC Hotels which is part of the Marriott group. It is very good with fancy decor ( maybe like W ) and this place has a wonderful garden ( modern style ) and location is great. I am impressed...
We got lost finding the property from the Atocha Station since we can't find our bearing as our maps did not function well. It took us half an hour of walking and when we get to the property, we realized that the property was just 5 minutes away from the station. Check in was okay. Receptionists greeted us and welcomed us in. We were given a room situated in the second building. Getting to the room has an eerie feeling. We took the elevator down, walked through an indoor garden to get to the next building. Took the lift to the 5th floor. The property is maintained well. Unfortunately, the few basics were missing considering this property is a Marriott brand. No complimentary water, water kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, creamer, coffee cups, vanity kit and what not. Now it's morning, we can't even have coffee inside our room before hitting the showers. I hope they do something about this.
Modest business hotel in a convenient location near train station, buses and Metro. Rooms are large, quiet, and nicely appointed in a modern, trendy style. BUT they lack storage space, lighting is inadequate, and there's nowhere to sit. Staff is friendly but not quite on top of things. Breakfast is excellent.
In the first place I think this hotel is placed in a very good location. Very close to prominent places and just a 25 minutes walk to the Centrum ie Sol station. You have many good places to eat near by and the location is very calm and the taxis are always waiting outside. The airport was just 20 minutes away and easily reachable. I got a good first impression when I entered the hotel and it has a nice looking with small reception. The reception staff is quick in checking-in and helping you to reach your hotel room asap. In general the hotel is very clean and tidy. When I entered the hotel room I had a good feeling. It was small but elegant. The setup of the room is very minimalist at the same time very creative. For example the room did not have any closed cupboard but more of an open one. The small shower cabin was also very attractive and looked like an interesting idea. You have to stay in the room to understand how the small room has been placed with small cupboard and shower area however it does not look anyway make the room cramped but in fact these gives the impression that the room is big and spacious. I am observing new design ideas the more I get to experience such hotel stays. The room is self sufficient and I really enjoyed the beds and had a very good night sleep. If possible I would have wished to pack the beds home. It is just like I wanted, little hard and not too soft. Too comfortable sleep every night for me. The room lacks certain things like.. I could not find a coffee maker nor I could find any clock/watch to tell time. Most of the hotel rooms these days have this small electronic time visible in the tv screen corners which is very handy. When it comes to basic necessities the room did have the soap, shampoo etc and as usual the staff are very happy to supply you with dental kit or shaving kit etc. The room did not have an Iron board but could be brought to the room if required I believe. One thing I notice is how much similar this hotel is to my previous travel to Rio, Brazil where I stayed in the hotel Best Western Plus Copacabana. The interiors of both the hotel strikingly looks similar including the textured wall design in the lifts and also retaining the same soap/shampoo brands. It made me to wonder how these different hotel chains operate and could have same ideas. When it comes to Restaurants the hotel does have a restaurant and bar area and have some fixed menu to choose from which was pretty ok to me. The breakfast served in the morning was almost same every day however they did have a good spread of breads, fruits, yoghurt etc. I thought the breakfast was decent enough though its repetitive. I am a vegetarian and I was able to manage well during my 2 weeks stay. Even otherwise they do have a very tasty vegetable soup and could make some veg pasta on demand which were really good. The room service was quick whenever ordered. The staffs were always very polite and helpful and quite friendly which I really appreciated. The hotel did provide free wifi and it was pretty fast. The only glitch is that the password gets changed every 3 days however the reception was kind enough to provide with multiple passwords in advance. I am not really sure whether this hotel has any tie up with the Marriott group and why they have Marriott in their name. Because this is not any super luxurious hotel. Though I was initially expecting a very big hotel like any of the Marriott's worldwide this did disappoint me a little. Overall I felt comfortable during my stay in this hotel and sure everybody would feel good about this choice. If possible I would not mind coming back to this hotel.
Well located, only 5 min walking from Atocha AVE railway station. The rooms are modern and very confortable. Breakfast buffet is good with plenty of options and quality of food is very good ( fresh squeezed juice).
Poor is to be kind. I guess I was expecting everything to work for starters In a Marriott branded hotel. Shower did not temperature control. Actually pretty dangerous considering how hot it suddenly got. WiFi code give to me did not work. Luckily 4G saved the day. Bar closed at 11:30 sharp. It's obvious that systems there are based on their mode of operating and little regard for customer. I believe it is In a good location. Forget service. I checked out one day earlier, having made my observations clear to the desk staff. She consulted the manager who screwed me for the full price for day I was not there, with no consideration for their failures Avoid.
My wife and I spent the weekend there. Unfortunately I felt unwell and had to spend mornings in bed, being only able to go for a walk in the afternoon. Reception clerk offered us late checkout on Sunday at no charge. Thank you guys, keep up the good work!
I stayed here at new year´s, really convenient if you travel through Barajas airport, really easy to get by car. AC Atocha is located 5 minutes walk from the main train station. Rooms are tidy and clean, modern concept, comfy bed, no complimentary water or tea.. I really liked the breakfast, buffet looks amazing. I highly recommend breakfast. There is a bar/restaurant on the main floor, I had a cold sandwich which costed more than 12€, super expensive and non that tasty. The lamps were dirty, there was dust inside, which could fell into your plate, not nice at all.
