AC Hotel Atocha by Marriott4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is of a high quality with quiet rooms and a convenient location for a break from train travel or to stay in central Atocha. The location is fantastic to avoid use of taxi's or public transport if arriving or leaving the Atocha station. We had to connect at Charmartin station which is about 30mins by taxi or 50mins by direct train. At Atocha station, this hotel is literally a 5 minute walk down (or up) the back stairs (behind taxi ranks) - don't go the long way! It also only about ten minutes to a central business district with plenty of restaurants, cafes and the like close by. 15 minutes walks you to the big park, "Jardines del Buen Retiro" complete with rowing pond (feed the fish popcorn...) and plenty to see and relax around. The breakfast is very good with plenty of space and outdoor seating available with a private courtyard. The only oddity is the see through shower, but if you've seen the person you are sleeping with naked before then it really is no problem. Or watch TV:)
Very quiet room (separate building, 5th floor, facing the garden and Atocha station - very quiet), spacious and with good aircon and good water pressure. The mattress was not a comfortable quality and the bed was only 190 cm long. The area is quiet with some tabernas close by. Breakfast was insanely expensive at the hotel but there are several sandwich places around the Atocha station – the best being Subway (salad is a rare component in Spanish sandwiches)
We had a good one night stay with two rooms. Our rooms were very quiet with no noise from close by Atocha station or surrounding roads. Our rooms were relatively spacious and modern. Showers were glass walled and exposed to room... It was slightly odd set up. Breakfast buffet it hotel restaurant was pretty typical for Marriott in Europe, good but a bit pricey. We would stay again.
As a regular customer and ‘Platinum elite’ Marriott member, I expected a different response to 100% expense charge when I had to cancel the stay on the day of arrival. They prefer to apply the procedure (and charge) rather than have some attention with the customer. Disappointing experience, I will not be staying there again.
Spent a week's vacation here in March. I really liked the hotel. the rooms were spacious by European standards. The shower was huge, but don't share this room with someone you aren't intimate with, because the shower is in the middle of the room. Vanity area was basic, and there was just enough storage for our clothes. The location is absolutely great. The AC didn't blow much air but did keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Street noise was a bit of a problem. Hallways were very dark. The location was great and close to various tourist sites, the Metro, and the train station.
Nice room quite spacious with comfortable bed, chairs and desk. Bathroom actually had a bath which we like. Our room face the main road and we did get some traffic noise, I guess the side rooms would be quieter. We were quickly checked in on arrival. The location of the hotel is particularly good if you were arriving by train as it around a five minute walk. Slightly further out from the main sights, but this gives you better access to restaurants that the locals use.
I have stayed for several nights at this hotel. The first impression of the hotel and the room was very positive. Everything was in an outstanding shape. The rooms are very stylish with the glass shower in the middle. The only, limited minus, is the background noise from other rooms, the water run, and from the the walkway. It was easy to hear if people are talking outside the room. The location is very good. Short walk to metro or many restaurants in Atocha. I can highly recommend this hotel.
I spent 6 nights at this hotel, my boyfriend had a business trip in Madrid and idea was that I tag along and work form the hotel. - Room was quite big, and it has proper working area -Wifi was good and included in the price -Room has contemporary design with a lot of glass and metal. Color scheme, light installations and a bit tinted windows made the room rather dark. - Actually the whole hotel is dark with strong neon light installations to make contrast. First impression is good, but it's not really pleasant for longer stays. It's very strange designer choice. - Everything was clean and well maintained and service was professional (props for the staff) -Hotel restaurant was alright (ok breakfast, ok lunch) - Good location O yeah, shower has glass walls, so have this in mind if you're sharing the room. The actual toilet is separated, and not visible (otherwise it would be the end of the romance for my boyfriend and me :) ) Would I stay here again? Service was good and it was cool experience once, but despite that, I would not. It is too dark.
A very convenient location at a great price. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. The shower on display makes it a bad place for families or friends, but the rooms were good sized. I recommend this place for value and location.
We liked the AC Hotel Atocha especially for its location. Lot of eating places around, very close to the main railway and subway stations. Also not far from the city's sight seeing spots like the museums and palace. The rooms were very good and also the service. Few small observations, we didn't get room upgrade in spite of our platinum membership, also no other features / facilities were made available to recognize the status. In that sense, we had better experience in other cities. However nothing to complain, overall a good experience !! Thanks you Atocha !!
