This is a perfect hotel ! Located less than a minute walk from the opera Metro station, and 5 minute walk to all the great Madrid central spots (Plaza Mayor, Plaza Del Sol, Gran Via, Royal Palace...). Hotel is warm and welcoming; very modern design; rooms are very clean and stylish, very comfortable bed and funny/innovative room amenities.. Hotel staff is very friendly, professional and speaks excellent English. We booked the room via "Hotels Tonight", got a relatively small room for a couple, but spent only one night in that room..got a much bigger room for the rest of the stay. Recommend to add the breakfast deal ("Beat breakfast in Madrid" - according to Daniel from reception - who was 100% correct!). All in all - an amazing hotel, will definitely return... Thank you for making our holiday in Madrid even better.
Our two week trip to the Madrid area, allowed us to stay in two different Room Mate Hotels. We stayed in the Room Mate Mario for four nights, and similar to our experience with the Room Mate Laura were not disappointed. The staff and hotel were amazing. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very large. The hotel is a great location, near the opera, Royal Palace and Plaza Major. Thankfully we took advantage of the free rental of the wifi hot spot ($70 Euros if it is not returned, to assist with navigating through the winding streets of this part of Madrid. In addition, there is a laundromat across the street, which turned out to be invaluable. Diego, who works the 3-11 pm shift, went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. No matter what questions or concerns my husband had, he was eager to please. In fact, when my husband informed him of our intent to stay in the Room Mate Gerard in Barcelona, he immediately offered to call the hotel and secure a room with a bigger bed. Just be warned that because the hotel is in a touristy area it can be noisy at night.
It's always a pleasure staying at Room Mate Mario. It is so conveniently located and the design is amazing. The breakfast offering is great and the room itself, very comfortable. Last but not least, the team is wonderful, they were so friendly and caring. Definately do recommend !!!
Charming, intimate and comfortable hotel in supreme location. Impeccably clean. Staff is your family. Natalia in breakfast area is like a mother in the house, caring for all! Front desk staff is genuinely interested in your comfort. 5 stars all around!
PERFECT location - right next to Royal Palace and Opera House and no more thatn 15 minutes (at most) walking distance to EVERYTHING. Subway is also about 30 seconds from hotel. The room was clean, staff was very friendly, morning breakfast was good and it was an all around great experience. Tad noisy in the halls if you are a very light sleeper, but i am from NYC so it was not a problem for me.
Wonderful hotel, room was ready for arrival at 11am on a Sunday. The room was spotless and cosy. The breakfast was plentiful great presentation and lots of choice, you can really see the love they put in to the breakfast. I was greeted by the lovely Sylvia, she even called me after check in to see if everything was to my liking. Diego and Daniel were also very helpful as everyone I interacted with at the Front desk. I can't wait for my next visit to Room Mate Mario, my home in Madrid!
What is there not to like? Great, helpful reception staff always willing to advise and reserve wherever and whenever, clean rooms, good breakfast, excellent location. Would definitely use again if going to Madrid. Loved the city (after 30 +years of last visit).. buzzing yet relaxed... great food,,plenty to see and enjoy... the Retiro, the art, the palace (free after 4pm)... and of course, if have time, the area around. Segovia!!!! trains running as they should (even if train station is miles away..2E on bus to centre or 8E in taxi (shared between 4 is a no-brainer).
Staying in Room Mate Mario has been a great experience, this gorgeous hotel is located a few steps away from the Spanish Royal Palace and the main areas in the Spanish Capital. I will always remember this hotel because of its staff......
We booked a short trip to Madrid and wanted to stay in the heart of the city, this is very well located a minute away from the opera house and a few mins from the royal palace. You can walk to great bars and restaurants within 10 minutes. We walked to all the tourist areas but the metro is a minute away and easy to use. The hotel staff are really great, friendly and efficient. We booked an executive room which means you have a Juliet balcony looking onto the street. The street can be a little noisy and we travelled a little off season. The room itself was adequate and clean good for a short stay the only thing to mention is the bathroom being a frosted glass cubicle in the room and the hand basin on the other side of the room which is a bit strange. We have been married for a long time so not too worried about this but not all would be comfortable with the arrangement. I am not sure if the bathrooms are all the same so check beforehand. We included the breakfast which is very good value, simple plentiful and fresh. The dining area is fairly basic but perfectly fine. This not a luxury hotel but for the cost and where it is located I would recommend. Just check the bathroom set up!
As having stayed at another Room Mate hotel in Amsterdam, which was just short of awesome, I suppose I my expectations were a little high and I was disappointed at first with my room. It was rather small and dark, with no view to speak of (one floor up, facing other windows.) However, it was nicely designed with cute touches (jelly beans, tote bag to borrow, Room Mate toiletries.) The bathroom was modern/new with a bathtub. There was a closet with some drawers, not just clothes hangers. But I would say the room was more just a place to rest in - felt a bit like a dorm. I didn't spend any real time in the lobby, but it looked cool and the staff was very congenial. Pleasant breakfast room with lots of food. The location was perfect. Quiet area but also very near palace and a pedestrian street/shopping zone (Calle del Arenal) that will take you to Puerto del Sol. There's a grocery store right next door, and taxi stand/metro stop literally a minute's walk. Also, a Burger King, which as an American, I appreciated when I needed something to drink with plenty of ice!
