Pavillon Winter Luxor

We had a lovely spacious room with a garden view in grounds shared with the Winter Palace Hotel which contain a good swimming pool and bar for drinks. Breakfast in the Pavilion was excellent but dinner in the main Winter Palace building, while adequate for carnivores, lacked enough variety to satisfy vegetarians. However the staff in both buildings were friendly and helpful.

We had 3 rooms for 3 nights here. Our rooms all had balconies with beautiful views of the courtyard and trees. Clean hotel. Clean pool. Only issues were with the fact that the hotel doesn’t restock the water in the room for free. They charge you for it. Normally, 4 and 5 star hotels restock the water each day. So without clarification, we were under the impression that the water in the room is free. We ended up being charged for the waters for each day in each room. Then, we also got a lunch charge that wasn’t our’s. When I got the receipt, the name on the receipt was clearly not any of our’s, and the room number was written in messy unclear handwriting. They did not ask us if this was our lunch, they gave us the charge without double checking - meaning anyone can write any room number on the receipt regardless of what name they put down and it’s not double checked when charged to a room. Other than this, the stay here is pleasant and the hotel is perfectly located.

It's getting harder to write reviews for here, we stay so often, for so long. That should be enough of a review to show we love the place, but I better write more! . We always arrive from Hurghada at around 09:30 so we take the early check-in option when we book. Glad we did! The hotel was full. Otherwise, check-in time was 15:00. Potential Luxor visitors need to start taking this into account – the place is not as dead as it has been for a few years. UK visitors may not be around much since the AI flights have not re-started, but hotels have gone out and got business elsewhere. All rooms look out over the gardens apart from a couple on each floor. Mrs eLaReF enjoys sitting on the large balconies at dawn and sunset, having a cigarette. (She only smokes on holiday!) Being there for four weeks, we did have to ask for more hangers for the wardrobe! A call to housekeeping sorted that out. Being Feb, it could be cool – Pool was lovely & warm! Pool Staff – We watched guests ask and saw them try to accommodate all their requests for sun/shade whatever. But I wish people would go first to their booth and sign in. Breakfast – the usual selection was available with a large enough spread of food to suit all nationalities. It was made harder for us since we were on a low-carb diet & I love the various breads available. We did get through a variety of cooked to order eggs in various formats. Pool Bar – They have a daily set menu, as well as the normal menus. We only used the normal since the daily meal included the verboten desserts! Sometimes we ate in the restaurant, under the fans and sometimes at our sunbed. Room Service – We used this quite a few times. They had new light bite items which were useful – Steamed fish and veg in a light curry sauce being ordered a few times. Corniche – We had friends staying in the Winter Palace so ate there a few times with them. Service was the usual high standard. Dinners were, then, usually followed by a visit to the Royal Bar until closing time. (Or we fell asleep, whichever was sooner) When we had breakfast the first day we had informed the restaurant staff about our dietary requirement i.e. No bread/cakes, no rice, no potatoes – especially NO FRIES (A room service private joke) and no beer. Word was obviously spread and other waiters we encountered were telling us! We would like to thank all the staff for their help in this. I still lost weight while there (12lb) which is not the norm! I was tempted by the food available though. Once again we had a very enjoyable, pampered stay. We felt that nothing we could ask would ever be a problem. Will obviously have to think up something more challenging for our next stay!!

This hotel is connected to the 5 star Winter Palace, sharing the pool and the restaurants. It is very comfortable and well located to get to the Luxor Palace and Karnak and not too far from the Valley of the Kings. There is so much to see in Egypt - turn a corner and something else fabulous appears. Just outside Luxor we drove amidst green irrigated land with the Nile on one side and a canal on the other to the Valley of the Kings. Past the green agricultural land is desert - amazing.

I love the peace and tranquility of the gardens of this hotel. It is centrally situated and Luxor Temple is a short walk away. The staff are helpful and courteous always. The rooms are very comfortable with balconies overlooking the gardens, the pool almost private. Lunches by the pool are delicious and the lemon juice cool and refreshing. Love this place.

A fine hotel with comfortable rooms, wi-fi and good facilities, in particular because it shares the garden, the swimming pool, the restaurants and the bars of adjacant Winterpalace. Breakfast was very good and price - for the comfort level - reasonable.

The grounds are clean and the pool area is tidy. In general, the grounds and the historic building are in good shape. The Pavillon, however, does not really give an impression of a five star hotel. The walls in the hallways and lifts are scraped and scratched and need painting or at least cleaning. The dresser and side tables in the room looked like they had been put together out of cheap plywood and were well on their way to falling apart. Ceiling tiles in the bathroom were worn and damaged. No air conditioning was available, since the ventilation system produces only heat during Winter, even on a very warm day. In contrast, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was well done. Moreover, the bed was very comfortable and the linens and towels were luxurious. The location is excellent. In the end, it wouldn't take much to clean this place up, give it some paint here and there, and fix all the (many, many) little broken things all around. But it would take an effort. While the garden, the pool, the location, and the nearby Winter Palace are all bonuses, I reckon that, all in all, I can't rate this particular place, the Pavillon Winter Luxor, at any higher than a Three Star standard.

We really liked this hotel. It was right in the centre of things but with a huge garden it felt peaceful by the pool. Nice room with a good shower. Free internet and breakfast. They made us a great breakfast box one morning. Very nice place to relax after sightseeing

We loved this hotel. The rooms were large and very comfortable. The hotel is part of the main Winter Palace Hotel and shared the beautiful gardens and pool. The staff are excellent and dealt with a temporary hot water problem in an exemplary manner. The food at the poolside bar and breakfast was very good. The hotel was also quiet which we really valued in such a busy city.

The internet might be slow, but it’s like that in the whole of Egypt. You do not have to pay extra for It. The rooms are large and the balcony just as large. To sit there in the early morning or in the evening is the highlight of my day. You do not get free bathrobe, but does the website site say you do? I always check that for any Hotel I go to. The room may need updated, but when did you decorate when you had no money to do so? What you do find is staff trying very hard to make your stay great, by working with the tools they have and doing a very good job of it. After all you’re not paying much for bed and breakfast. I recently booked a Premier Inn on a cheap deal £63 .50 a night with no breakfast. I like this Hotel so much that I have already booked for the coming Christmas and I know that I will have to pay for the Gala Night, but that is normal. It may not be normal for your country. Just like I did not find it normal that a microwave would be in my room in the U.S.A. The swimming pool’s staff are great. Just ask and they will help you to stay in the shade or in the sun.The gardeners work hard to keep the gardens to a high standard. Breakfast has a wide selection. Please go to any Hotel with an open mind and enjoy. I do and enjoy. them. If anything is wrong I say so.
