We needed to stay in Chester for one night, and the resort where we usually stay was sold out, so we didn't have much choice but to stay at The Windjammer. When you walk in the room, you swear there has been a time warp or something. I haven't seen that much wallpaper since the 80's! However, the room was spotless, even though dated, the bathroom was adequate, and the bed was super comfortable. I absolutely would not hesitate to stay here again. Perhaps putting a coffee maker in the room would be nice, since you have to drive to find coffee in the morning.
The room was not what I expected but there were some good points. The staff very friendly and helpful, the room spacious and very clean but neither of us had a pleasant sleep. The mattress was extremely hard, so much so I was in pain by morning. For a hundred bucks a night you would expect a coffee maker but no …..there's a Tim's a couple of minutes down the road though. Not even shampoo for the shower. Very old 20in TV, haven't seen one of those in a decade or more. The walls are not too well sound proofed, so hope for quiet neighbours.
The room has not been updated since the 70s. Listing says air conditioned rooms, our room had a fan, very misleading, temperature in the room was 30 Celsius. Water was brown and shower pressure was a trickle. TV was 19 inch and you could only get a few channels. Mattress was like lying on cardboard. I have stayed in a lot of dumps but by far this was the worst. I have never ever asked for a refund, but after trying to sleep for about an hour with the fan pointed directly at us, I asked for a refund. The owner/ check in clerk/ maid obliged after offering us another fan, which I turned down as the current one was just blowing hot air. Their listing needs to advice people that only a few rooms have air. $95 a night is way too much for this place, should be $50 a night. Unfortunately we had to drive back home because their were no rooms to be had. Don’t stay here.
Stayed at this location as the planning was poor. We did get some sleep but the walls were not that soundproof. Not much trafic in this time of year. This could be a problem in the summer when you want to open the windows. No AC. Rooms are quite dated, panneling on the walls , older carpets, older style tv.
This motel has been around for a very long time and it does look it. The owner was very friendly and his wife does a wonderful job of keeping the rooms very clean. The space is above average for most motel rooms which is very nice. Bathrooms are clean with nice clean linens. We will stay here again. Restaurant that used to be next to the restaurant is no longer open. Major disappointment as they had the best chowder!!!!!!!
Basic motel with a comfy bed and clean bathroom. Very friendly and kind staff. It was about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the centre of Chester, but considerably more affordable than and other accomodation in Chester.
We booked a room here at the last minute because all other places were booked. The room was tired and old looking. It had a good AC and a small old fridge. Had a decent sleep but would never go back or recommend. Would be a quaint little motel if it was updated!
This is a outdated but quaint and clean motel. The owner was extremely friendly and gave us good tips to see local sites nearby. The stars are the closest and brightest I have ever seen while staying here, and I have traveled all over the world. The rooms are big. Decor is from the 70's, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Cost was $127 for the night. Would definitely come back again and stay in.
This motel is very old but spotlessly clean and windows that open. Richard was very accommodating, even heated some scallops for us in a small frying pan.....thank you! Only negative was no coffee pot in the room
My family has stayed at the Windjammer Motel for our summer vacations for the last two years. On both occasions we have stayed for two weeks. This lovely motel has everything you could possibly need to have a comfortable and enjoyable family vacation. The rooms are roomy and extremely clean. The staff take considerable pride in insuring that the visitors are happy and it's like staying with family when we visit (Family, you WANT to be around) Yes, the rooms decor could probably use some updating, but it just adds to the charm. It is a MOTEL after all, not a HOTEL. We are planning our Chester visit again this year, and we are really looking forward to staying again at the Windjammer Motel
