Manistee Inn & Marina

We come to Manistee on a yearly golf/beach holiday and, this time, we decided to try an inn at the center of town with a Marina, just for the quaint feel. We know that locally owned motels and hotels can have unexpected shortcomings but this one had more than its share. Since we prepaid the reservation on line we felt we we're locked in so we spent the two nights there. If we had wandered in we would have passed. We were put in a room in the basement that they call their first floor. The hallway had a strong musty smell. When we entered the room it was warm and humid. The room had an older wall unit air conditioner running at the window but wasn't really working. We even turned it down to sixty degrees to just get a little comfort. The windows were the old aluminum frames that were hard to open and close. The older curtains didn't fit the window and when we pulled them back the rod fell out of the wall! You couldn't call the desk because......there are no phones in the rooms! My husband went upstairs and told the man at the desk about the rod. The inn is run by a married couple who live on the premises. He immediately came down and fixed the rod and was very helpful. The room was clean and the king size bed was comfortable. The inn is across an alley from a marina. This facility would probably be best served for fisherman who want to share a room to get in a couple of days of fishing on Lake Michigan.

Clean, Quiet, and Convenient. Desk and Maintenance staff, were ALL very pleasant and competent.

Nice location in a small town. Not too much to see, but the river view room was good. As always, refrigerator and microwave in room are appreciated.

Great location in downtown, staff were super nice. Rooms are basic. The non-smoking room I was in smelled like someone had previously smoked there (not too bad but I could tell). Price was right for a hotel that is walk to your destination/restaurant/activities locations.

very nice clean place to stay. would come back again next time Im in the area.

I liked staying here. It was clean and walking distance to everything downtown. Plus, it's right on the river. Very cool. There were bagels and cereal for breakfast and an open kitchen with microwave. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again if I'm in town.

Good location, people were very nice. The heater int he room was the only problem. The face on the heater was broken and in parts. It worked but in parts

Was stopping over for one night and found the room to be clean and comfortable. There aren't any frills but it serves its intended purpose. Also has a good location in the heart of downtown.

Enjoyable stay. Friendly staff. You can see the river and watch the boats pass by.

After spending the day touring the Lake Michigan shore and seeing many quaint towns with interesting locations, We hoped that this hotel would be one of those and ended up paying a little more. The location is on the river in an uninteresting town. Our room was nothing special with a view of the parking lot. The curtain could not even be closed and it was at street level. Felt that it should have been a little more special for the money.

we arrived late and left early - the lodgings were simple, but clean - staff was friendly

Good downtown location. Comfortable mattress. Soft water. Breakfast is inadequate.

We attended a weekend wedding at a beach house and spent 3 nights at the Manistee Inn. I would stay there again because of the location - walk to shops and restaurants and located along the river, BUT they have THE skimpiest, roughest towels I have encountered EVER. I can take small OR rough, but not both! One bed in our room had a plastic cover on it; the other bed did not? Why the cheapo covers? The beds were very comfy, but" noisy" and, of course, the sheets continually slipped off. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was bagels and cream cheese, dry cereal, OJ and coffee. Be aware the front desk is only staffed 9 am to 10 pm. Until the property manager intervened, a desk clerk told us on the phone we wouldn't be able to check in at midnight and would have to stay elsewhere, despite our reservations. Crazy!

Not what we expected for the price. Beds were worn out, stains on the chairs. Rooms could use a good face lift. Also no breakfast as advertised. Will never stay there again,or use again or book thru a certain company either!!! NOT WORTH IT AT ALL !!!!

The hotel was right downtown by the marina and had ample parking. Unfortunately, the rooms need updating. It looks like they are updating the interior corridors. Maybe the rooms will be next. The room was clean just nothing to write home about.
