We spent 2 nights at a peak time during year-end holidays. Better than many other places, they welcomed us warmly and provided full wholehearted assistance despite our paying a very strongly discounted rate. The buildings, parking and surrounding country are very nice, recently and carefully refurbished with clean, airy and well-lit rooms. A bit cold in the night, requiring us to keep heating on most of it. Views are pleasant if dull - the location is extremely quiet, few hundred yards out of Fabbri, itself a tiny satellite village to Altopascio. It's in flat country if green with significant commercial and industrial development further out meaning the nice view of the hills is very distant. Breakfast is rich and very good quality, if based on sweets - cakes, pies, croissants and other pastries, with negligible savoury food. Great place to visit Lucca, walk a couple legs on the well-marked Via Francigena (either West to Lucca or South-East to San Miniato), Pisa and other nice villages and abbeys nearby. Some reading helps you get a feeling of when this was a very busy crossing of major trade routes.
Lovely house on the edge of town which is no more than a five minute walk away. Fantastic host, nothing was too much trouble, room was clean and comfortable, air conditioning was well appreciated as weather temperature was above average. Lovely swimming pool and garden area. Would happily stay there again as only used it as a one night on route stopover
We stayed here at the end of August after booking through Expedia. We arrived at 9.30pm but our room for the week wasn't going to be ready until the next day so after we were shown to our room for the night. It was a lovely, large room with a kitchenette and a large bathroom which would have been ideal for us (Mum, Dad & 9 yr old) but at least we got a look at another room. The next day we were shown to a smaller room but this one was ground floor and had double doors opening directly onto the garden which we ended up using all of the time. We had a large double bed and a fold-out for our daughter along with a secure safe, air con and a small fridge. The wifi was fast, free and reliable. The bathroom was small but the shower was good, we always had hot water and good pressure. The location is good, close enough to the autostrada to reach anywhere (we travelled to Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia, Florence, Modena, Volterra and Maranello to name a few places) but in the countryside so it's very peaceful. The B&B is a converted farmhouse and still retains a lot of it's charm and character. Our room was cleaned every day, we had a good supply of clean towels as we needed them. Breakfast was served from 8am and with a full day of exploring ahead of us we found ourselves the first there and waiting for it to be served. The choice was excellent with a good variety of Italian breakfast pastries, cold meats, yogurts, cereals and fresh juice. The pool area was clean and well looked after and a great place to spend a few hours soaking up the sun before an evening out. The pool itself isn't the biggest but adequate for the number of guests and there is a jacuzzi and a small play area too. The lady looking after us was lovely and very patient with our (very) limited Italian and our frequent requests for coffee! In fact I think our only niggle would be that we do like the option to be able to have a coffee when we want. This was only available in the reception/breakfast room and you couldn't help yourself so I often felt like I was bothering the owner asking for it. Saying that, we were charged at the end of the stay for the coffee we had had so I didn't feel too bad! We did feel as though we were staying in someone's home and didn't want to leave. Zero the dog kept us all entertained with his antics (such as one morning when he'd made it into the kitchen and was escaping with a string of Nutella sachets hanging from his mouth like they were sausages!). We will definitely return and wouldn't hesitate recommending this place to friends.
We attempted to stay here; however, due to a internet glitch we were unable to secure a room. The owners were extremely helpful in making sure we had accommodations for the evening. They found us a local hotel quickly and allowed us to use their facilities while we waited. They provided us the pool, a shower, snack and beverage as we waited. They even drove us to our hotel. Extremely nice and helpful! We look forward to staying here in the future with these lovely owners :)
Very nice place and easy to visit Lucca, Pisa and Pistoia. The garden is wonderful and the owners very kind and helpful. Extremely good experience!! We suggest it for a holiday in Tuscany if you are looking for peace and nature. We were there for three nights and enjoyed the place.
A presto
