Stayed 4 nights at the Gatsby, it a great easy to get to hotel with super nice friendly staff. Room was not very big but it was very clean with a updated modern vibe. You are close to all the lower neighborhoods with a lot of the best restaurants and bars in the city close by, it offers easy access to the subways and not hard to get a taxi. Not a very big place big place at all so you get the staff full attention. We had zero issue, room was cleaned everyday, water was allays hot and the AC was supper cold.
Let me just say after 12 hours of traveling, I was so impressed by the staff and the room at the Gatsby that I will be definitely revisiting and recommending this hotel. Anthony and Sam were so professional and helpful as they both assisted me with eateries and shopping suggestions. Also, they went out of their way to call and source information for me and my colleagues. Excellent customer service and great location. There was a Whole Foods across the street and about a zillion pubs and restaurants along the street.
First, I'd like to thank Peter at the desk for being so helpful. Because I intend to return to NYC frequently, he pointed out ways that one save when staying at The Gatsby (e.g., booking on TripAdvisor; with AAA; as a Choice Hotels member; and someday, as a senior citizen). On the day I arrived and again several days later (on the day before I left), the housekeeper on duty did a particularly nice job, even arranging the shower curtain artistically! The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars is because the days in between, another housekeeper forgot (?) to replace the towels I had used, leaving me with fewer and fewer towels each day. Nonetheless, the room while not extraordinary was clean and included a microwave and small refrigerator. The location is terrific. I look forward to returning.
Rooms are small but very clean, close to Subway for easy travel to Time Square & other Famous New York City landmarks! Hotel advertised free parking but the parking lot charged me USD40 for parking so parking is not free & USD40 after paying $189 for a small room is expenive. Staff were friendly!
I stayed here by taking a gamble on Hotwire. Turned out to be great! Very nice no frills hotel in the Lower East Side. You don’t need a fancy hotel to stay in NYC. The room is tiny as is expected in NYC, but it’s not like you need lots of space. I had a single double room. Bed was comfy, the bathroom was fine although there was a tiny portion of the ceiling peeling off. They have a small table and chair but not much room to do any work or eat there if one wanted to do so. Wi-fi connection was excellent. It was a little bit loud but not because of street noise (I live in a large city so I’m used to it), but because the hotel doors swing back and slams shut very noisily. You will hear this all night long with other guests entering/exiting their room. I suggest bringing earplugs. This place was clean and safe and in a great neighborhood. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, the subway, SoHo, Chinatown. Whole Foods is across the street. I would definitely recommend staying here or in lower Manhattan as it is generally less congested and busy. Still get to experience the best of New York without all the crowds in midtown.
Great room. Front desk were some cool people. Complementary water. Bed was comfy. Bathroom has a nice tub and great lightning. Room and bathroom were clean. There were great areas to shop and eat nearby. Would stay here again.
Good location between the East Village and Nolita. Clean and spacious, with surprisingly great water pressure. Rooms are recently renovated and have a modern feel to them. Great place to crash at night after exploring the neighbourhoods all day. Receptionists were also great with recommendations and providing helpful insights about the area.
We reserved a room for the day in the beginning of May. They gave us a room below the street level. It was small but clean. Front desk was very friendly. Neighbourhood seem ok. It is very close to Katz deli.
I stayed there for a weekend and it was very pleasant. Coffee offered in the lobby and the receptionists were so helpful and sweet. If I ever go to NYC, I'll most likely stay here again. Can't beat the price!
Clean, quiet (besides normal traffic) and comfortable. We made a last minute reservation here and I was really impressed and enjoyed my stay. If I'm ever in the area again I'd stay here. The staff was super friendly and helpful too.
